Can confirm the Lahar K is fckn loud. Guy at my local range hand one on a 13.7" 5.56 and It almost sounds the same as unsuppressed on short barrels (IMO). Speaking of cans, I've been running the SC 36m on 5.56 and I kinda have started loving it more than my RC2...surprisingly. No idea how quite it really is (I run a 416) but with the 5.56 internal flash hider endcap it actually sparks less than my RC2 (under nv). Being able to toss it into a shorter config is also pretty freaking sweet.
I wanted to love my HB due to the cash I dropped on it. It went back to Q TWICE for same failure to fully seat a round issue. They sent me a new two piece BCG that “fixed” the problem. Sold it
I really want to add an ODB and WB to my collection. I run a lot of SF cans and it might be nice to not get gassed the fuck out all the time. Granted, there are lots of factors, but I feel I need a good flow through can and CAT just vibes with me.
still gonna get gassed out, you really only avoid it with hux cans, which have virtually no gas blowback and are the quietest to the shooter in the free field (indoors or near a berm the sounds gonna reflect a lot more than traditional cans causing it to seem as loud or louder) the CAT ODB on 5.56 has very little backpressure while being super quiet the WB has a lot more backpressure and noise but is still gonna be more pleasant than a Surefire can, just not by anything extreme if I had to guess So if you shoot with ear pro on, Hux all day but if you play with subs or want a can to shoot without ears in more situations, CAT beats most if not all of the crowd, just still gonna have some gas
Do it! You’ll be happy. Swapped to a odb on a kac 14.5 after a few years running a rc2 on that gun. The odb is noticeably flatter shooting, less gas blow back, and I really like the rearden mounts. A lot of folks mention sure fires carbon locking but I never really had issues with that personally. Would always take the can off before it cooled down fully so that probably helped avoid it. Going forward I don’t think I’ll be buying cans that aren’t hub compatible I want to be able to try new mounts and muzzle devices as they become available. One of the main reasons I kinda got turned off from huxwrx when the flow series launched was not wanting to go get invested in another proprietary mount system. I like the rc2 but it’s old tech at this point better options are out there. Cat is doing really interesting stuff and their inconel cans are tanks. Personally I find them to be a great value when you see other options like kac and surefire well north of $1500. Huxwrx is around the same price but I prefer inconel over steel if I have the option
Start with the ODB. See if you still want/need a WB. ODB Ti HUB for me on a 16” doesn’t crack 400 degrees with normal fire. If you are mag dumping regularly, consider the 718 inconel. As mentioned here, ODB is low backpressure (lower than a Velos LBP) but not as low as the old OSS Helix cans. Edit: 16” 5.56

I tried to talk my buddy out of a Trash Panda for his Sugar Weasel, but he was convinced Q rifle needs Q can. I actually think the TP is a better 5.56 can than 30 cal. Now that I built him a 7.5” 300blk, he is looking for a dedicated 300blk can. He has shot my ODB and Enticer S on that rifle along with the TP. The ODB edges out the Enticer S (AGB) with the TP a distant third with 220gr subs. I still think DDC is making some of the best high value cans out there, but if you have the budget for CAT, it’s a no-brainer for me right now.
Randomly…. Out of all my 30 cal cans… I prefer the scythe. Waiting for a heavier use version then I’ll speak on it. But that can sounds amazing with 220’s and 110’s

I mean, everyone knows the Lahar 30K sucks. The regular Lahar 30 is way better. Even when I use it on my DI 5.56 and Spear LT it performs well for a 30 Cal can.
