If your idler bearings are dry , you can replace the bearing with a common kia / hyundai bearing , you just drill it out / grind off the back etc drill and countersink to 12mm , bolt them on loctite on nuts etc
The pulley's for the GL1100 are identical btw. Mine were in worse condition than yours!! You made quicker progress with yours than I have with mine even if your technique was not up to your usual meticulous standard imo!
This is what I choose todo,,, the Kia /Hyundai bearings look so much stronger and generally better then the stock items,,,and if you cannot see them "what the difference"
Thank you! Great material - this is what small and big problems actually look like when making seemingly simple repairs. All the best, best regards.
Glad to see you posting new material. I have a 75 and find your videos a fantastic resource. Keep posting.
I have a 75, 78, and 79. This is good information. Thanks.
Good to have you back on the GL1000 project. I am following along whilst restoring my own 1976 Goldwing. Looking forward to the next installment.
Interesante reconstrucción ,no sería mejor cambiar los tensores ? Un saludo desde Colombia
I’ve got a 77 I’m about to do the timing belts on, so this was very helpful. Thanks!

Good luck with the build! I went for Avon Road Riders 2
Not stripping the engine then?
No need to strip the engine as it runs and has reasonable compression and runs through the gears ok.
