My mother and I attended this show. We held hands and cried during this song.
As we left the hall, we went in opposite directions having driven separately.
I remember turning around to see her exit the glass doors across the lobby.
A strange feeling came over me and I shook it off.
2 nights later, she passed away at a young 68. One hour after we said " I love yous" on the phone.
    Sudden and without warning.
    Cherish every moment.
We see Celtic Woman every time round and feel doubly blessed to have shared those moments. ❤

I love how this song begins with just one voice, then grows by adding harmony voicals, then a fiddle, percussion, orchestra, choir, and bagpipes. Celtic Woman has always been amazing at taking a show from a single voice to a theater filled with sound. A well deserved standing ovation.

I could never get tired of hearing their voices. Thank you for sharing your voices for us all to enjoy. My mom spoke of you all a few years ago. We have always shared taste in much of the same music. I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into when she told me about Celtic Woman. She was changing and growing more with her taste in music.
I was thrilled with what I found.
I just lost my Mom Dec 3. This was the final song that I chose to play. It speaks so much of what I know she would say.
Here's to you Mom! May you find the peace that you were seeking there at the end. I wish that you were still here. I don't know how to live in a world without you.
    It still doesn't seem real.
    Thank you again

Laurie Yordy No, it's a wake song 'sung' by the departed person who is saying goodbye to the loved ones that he is leaving behind. It is tradition in Ireland to have 'a parting glass' (a last drink) with the dead person before sending them off on their journey beyond.

    LYRICS - The Parting Glass
Of all the money that e'er I had
I spent it in good company
And all the harm I've ever done
Alas it was to none but me
And all I've done for want of wit
    To mem'ry now I can't recall
So fill to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be to you all
So fill to me the parting glass
And drink a health whate’er befalls
And gently rise and softly call
Good night and joy be to you all
Of all the comrades that e'er I had
They're sorry for my going away
And all the sweethearts that e'er I had
They'd wish me one more day to stay
But since it fell unto my lot
That I should rise and you should not
I gently rise and softly call
Good night and joy be to you all
Fill to me the parting glass
And drink a health whate’er befalls
And gently rise and softly call
Good night and joy be to you all
    La La
But since it fell unto my lot
That I should rise and you should not
I gently rise and softly call
Good night and joy be to you all
So fill to me the parting glass
And drink a health whate’er befalls
And gently rise and softly call
Good night and joy be to you all

It isn't too much to see them all smiling. These smiles are *genuine*, and they smile because they truly enjoy what they are doing. I have never seen another group really like performing and interacting or involving the audience the way Celtic Woman does. It makes going to their concerts that much more enjoyable. As a Christmas present, in June, I get the incredible privilege of meeting them in-person, so I will be the one who is "too smiley".

AC4 brought most of us here it seems.
The feels man, the feels. Assassins creed has been diving deeper into the Templar/Assassin story for a few games now, to a point it's almost been becoming inaccessible to new players.
AC4 was great because it was a story, plain and simple, about a man, his family, and the friends he lost because of his reckless ambition. It's about realizing the cost of greed, and discovering the things in life that are truly worth holding on to.
Its a story we can all relate to.

Edward was a real pirate until the end, he sacrified everything, and did horrible things because he thought he'll get an incredible treasure. His own greed is the reason he lost all his friends. He had to lose everything to become a new man. As Ezio, who lost everything to discover there was more than his own person.

I have since heard it done live three times by Celtic Woman (the 2nd time, I actually got to *meet* them in-person back stage). While this is recording of the live Believe concert is good, hearing it done live in-concert just completely blows you away. In only a few more weeks, I get to hear them again from almost dead-center in the 2nd row.

John G., I had practically every album the Clancy Brothers (and Tommy Makem) ever made and could sing the words and melodies by heart, even some of the Gaelic songs. Around St. Patrick's day I went with friends several times to see and hear them live at Carnegie Hall in NYC. I loved them, and wish they were still around. They were much more authentically folk singers with their simpler, rougher, more "authentic" versions of Irish ballads, sea chanties, songs of rebellion, drinking songs, etc. They ended every concert with "The Parting Glass." But that doesn't mean that I don't love the Celtic Woman too, with their highly arranged, orchestrated, harmonized versions of Celtic music. Despite their quite different style, I find what they do quite beautiful and often thrilling. There's room in my life and in the world for different approaches to beauty, as there's more than enough ugliness around.

This is the first time I have heard this tune, yet, after years of listening to Celtic Tunes, it still has a haunting beauty to it, one of the reasons why I feel Celtic Music, along with Classical and Opera, are still the best Music Genres around.

From Wiki: The "parting glass", or "stirrup cup", or "le coup de l'étrier" was the final hospitality offered to a departing guest. Once they had mounted, they were presented one final drink to fortify them for their travels. The custom was practised in several continental countries.[2]

their harmonies remind me of a harmonica - and i know that sounds stupid, but when you play a harmonica, everything that comes out fits so well together, because all those notes come out from the same instrument. and when they sing together, it doesn't sound like one voice trying to fit with one voice - it just sounds like one pure sound. there's a unity to their singing that i don't think i've seen equaled, and i think that's really cool.

Thank you for sharing the Celtic Woman's amazing rendition of this song.

Celtic Woman did nothing to decrease its beauty. In fact, since then, I listened to the other versions and while there are some really good ones, I still tend to like the Celtic Woman version the most.
