Despite the crack and repair, I think it still sounds quite amazing! Would love to hear it on some modern equipment somehow and use an equalizer to bring out the bass, treble, boost or lower other frequencies. Danse Macabre has always been one of my favourite compositions.

I appreciate the kind comments about the record. 14" Pathe Records are very hard to come by. The buyer worked with me on the purchase price of this record, knowing the condition and the uphill battle I would have to repair this record and make it playable. Originally it would not even track with the crack--after the repair you hear the result. The Victor VI --and of course some original Pathe Phonographs are the only way to experience the original "feel" of the recording. The Dual Mainspring and the fact that this can play a 14" record is a miracle. The size and weight alone are a challenge. To find an adapter and quality original Pathe Sapphire Ball Stylus is challenging. To hear them at all is a miracle--it survived and can still be heard 110 or so years later. As far as the sound reproduced on this video. I am a purist. Hearing the sound as it was originally heard by the original owners is something I like the audience to experience. I am sure all the modern equipment today could extract every ounce of sound from the record and eliminate all the noise and etcetera. And I know that has been done tens of thousands of times on youtube in other videos. I enjoy the composition as well. Thank you for your comments.
