The record is well worn. It's hard to fairly assess the performance.

Almost unrecognisable from the fast hot version by Sydney Firmans BBC band

This song was composed by Willard Robison, and his version (backed only by his own piano) is the best. But this is a quite nice dance version. Incidentally Robison came from a family of ministers and wrote this song as an attack on all the nasty people in the 1920's who were calling jazz "the devil's music" (sound familiar?). I'm only sorry this record doesn't include a vocal, because the lyrics are beautiful: "Just like a string bean needs a pole/You need good music to brighten up the soul."
