A friend just sent me this. Thanks for the kind words! I do a lot of teaching and dissecting of others players solos in this way for students. It’s a trip to see someone looking at my playing in the same way. If you ever wanna do a live to discuss approach or talk about a solo like this send me a message!
It's really hard to quantify just how THICK your tone is live. I was genuinely concerned my wife was going to be spontaneously pregnant by the end of the show.
@_johnny_99_46 Man you rock, I love the tone you have. I wish I had heard about you a lot sooner than the new C&C record. Love the playing, hope to see you live some day
John, it was not easy to find out your name searching "city and colour guitarist". I'm a massive Dallas Green fan and I saw you guys in Los Angeles last year. Now I am a huge fan of John Sponarski as well. I was just listening to the last album and realizing what a big part of the sound of these songs and the album as a whole is coming from you. Dallas is a great guitarist but your playing takes this music to the next level and it's hard to imagine what it might sound like without you. People often talk about how Mike Campbell always played the perfect part for the song, not really standing out, just playing exactly what the song called for. I think the same could be said for you. They really need to do a rig rundown with you!
The mix was incredible. Surprisingly this is one of my least favorite tracks that was done and I feel like there’s other songs where the band had a chance to shine more.
Michael, thanks so much for getting this reaction on the channel. The whole concert by City and Colour is very good. If you have a chance to check out another track, the last song "Bow Down to Love" has some interesting guitar work. I think you would like it.
I think he’s been touring with this group for a while now. Got to go backstage a year ago and hang with them all, incredibly talented and friendly guys. Cant wait to see them again!
God bless the sound engineer. This show blew me away, had tickets to see them and vinyl on the way after a few minutes. When I need a break from computer-made-music, that's my go to for emotion. Knowing the entire album was written after/about their manager who passed during Covid... punch in the gut.
Saw City and Colour in Los Angeles last year and damn near had a religious experience! Probably my favorite group right now, and Dallas is definitely my favorite singer.
Doesn’t get much better than this performance by one of the most talented musicians in a generation and a band perfectly suited to the songs. Thanks for dropping knowledge on the ins and outs of the techniques!
The first time I ever heard City and Colour was on a compilation album it was a song called sleeping sickness off their first album and it's just Dallas and his guitar and his acoustic guitar playing is phenomenal
Dallas Green is so underrated. Been a huge fan since early Alexisonfire days. I end up in a MySpace Transmissions rabbit hole every few months. Phenomenal artist - great take breaking down this video!
I have been hoping you would eventually come back to City and Colour!! Awesome you picked one my fav performances to listen to!! You gotta check out some of the other songs in this performance - out of the park good!!!
I love the "you don't really need to think about it that hard, just play the notes in the chord as the come by." Way too many people get hung up on modes and scales, just play the notes in the chord as they come by and you'll sound fantastic.
For a while the guys playing with Dallas as City and Colour were mostly members of a band called Cordovas and those guys have been doing more as a band so I have to guess that's why there were changes within the band
I love your videos, I feel like I learn so much!, I was wondering if you could analyze a guitarist called mk.gee, he has a similar vibe to dijon and has an amazing sound and talent and it feels like he does something different, idk how to explain it, sure you would love it . I recommend the song "Candy" and the just released "lonely fight"
@Adamjmckay I'd love to get his insight on their song Fight from the Road Apple's album. Some of the best blues/rock I've ever heard. Gord kills it as usual, but Rob and Paul are at their best
Hey, I hope you are well. I visited your RUclips channel and checked your content. You are doing great work. I also checked your thumbnails which are just OK. I can make them more professional and eye-catching so you will get high video CTR. If you are interested then let me know. I'll also offer a free thumbnail design to get an idea about my work. Looking forward to chatting with you. Regards, Mubashir Murtaza

Please tell Dallas We need more music from Him. The Last Album was Lit.... Love from Malawi.

@@Cmoore718 Thanks!
This whole CBC performance is sooooooo good!! On repeat while i'm working. Big fan of Dallas Green!
The mix was incredible. Surprisingly this is one of my least favorite tracks that was done and I feel like there’s other songs where the band had a chance to shine more.

Weightless is one of many gems on that record. Hello from Canada!
I think he’s been touring with this group for a while now. Got to go backstage a year ago and hang with them all, incredibly talented and friendly guys. Cant wait to see them again!
I’m seeing him in November and can’t wait!

Saw them live this summer in their hometown of St Catharines ON, and they did not disappoint - AMAZING!!!
YES. Thank you for reviewing this Michael, I've been waiting a long time
City and Colour… sweet! His most recent album is so good. As was the most recent back with the boys in Alexisonfire
Doesn’t get much better than this performance by one of the most talented musicians in a generation and a band perfectly suited to the songs. Thanks for dropping knowledge on the ins and outs of the techniques!
Yes!! I have been a fan of City and Colour for a decade now!! Great stuff!
Fantastic! I grabbed my guitar!
Never heard of them but love the music!!!!! And the lesson is great as always....
The first time I ever heard City and Colour was on a compilation album it was a song called sleeping sickness off their first album and it's just Dallas and his guitar and his acoustic guitar playing is phenomenal
Always happy to see Canadian content
I saw them in Feb-March and they were amazing. Dallas is an incredible singer
There are no coincidences , I just stopped opiates and the "walk away from pain" blast out of his song. Perfect timing Michael. TY for the turn on!
Stay strong!
Dallas Green is so underrated. Been a huge fan since early Alexisonfire days. I end up in a MySpace Transmissions rabbit hole every few months. Phenomenal artist - great take breaking down this video!
Thankfully some of the 'lighthouse in the dark' energy that we lost when Gord Downie died was passed along to Dallas.
Just another talented CDN😊

one of my favorite songs of theirs!
Just saw them in Portland, ME - so good, badass band.
I believe that is Johnny99 on guitar...a much in demand session player out of Vancouver. This whole set for CBC is fantastic
Z
Johnny lives in Toronto now, but yes super talented! The whole band is next level
Great song fantastic voice.
Saw him a few weeks ago at The Lyric. Spectacular show
City and Colour? INSTANT LIKE
Dallas is so underrated and a lot of people don’t even know who he is
Easily one of the best live shows I’ve seen lately with the new album.
For a while the guys playing with Dallas as City and Colour were mostly members of a band called Cordovas and those guys have been doing more as a band so I have to guess that's why there were changes within the band
Just like the Bahamas video, you gotta think the Canadian taxpayers for the amazing sound at CBC studio. Money wealth spent.
Hipposonic Studios in Vancouver there. Bow Down to Love was my favourite.
You have to do Bow Down to Love from this set!
You should listen to Alexisonfire - Counterparts And Number Them!
Listen to You+Me. He’s just so good! Never fails
Dallas is classic
God the talent
Surely someone's requested some Alexisonfire on guitar gate!
If no one else has, I'll request that too!
Please do more city and colour and explain the guitar behind it. Check out "bow down to love"
Always love your guitar breakdowns. Hope you go back to Opeth - Windowpane live lamentations dvd to see your take
Lucas imbribia blows everyone away, your to easily impressed my friend
Now you have to do a video with him in Alexisonfire!!!
Yes!!
Which album was this song released on? I can’t find it. 😢
Little Hell 2011. One of my fav Dallas songs.
Cool. Reminded me of the Cult a lil bit, and normally I would not say that about Mr. Green.
Phil Keaggy "Amazing Grace" E-Bow Demonstration
Michael, if you have a hair on your butt, you will react to Phil Keaggy "Amazing Grace" with e-bow. I saw Phil live in Tyler Texas in 1985 or 1986.
Have you ever done a tragically hip video?
@Adamjmckay I'd love to get his insight on their song Fight from the Road Apple's album. Some of the best blues/rock I've ever heard. Gord kills it as usual, but Rob and Paul are at their best
Just recommended you check Dallas out on another video not realizing you’re a fan already lol
City and colour is my favorite he is absolutely insane.
Bow Down to Love was my favorite performance from that set list on the CBC: ruclips.net/video/tEg5D9dWX-Q/видео.htmlsi=IOZB62r-vjxu4IiI
Do some a Phish jam
his new lineup? this video alone is a year old
D minor. Its the saddest of all keys.
you don't even know which note they are playing and you call yourself a teacher. You don't do ear training don't you?
feeling good?
Michael how many prs do you own ,????
