Plays like a Zombie game compared to Half Life 2's exploration theme. Valve doesn't know what made previous games successful. And no, I don't care for VR. The fact that this game depends on a gimmick like VR to be relevant is indicative of its shallowness.
I swear they seem like an obsessed cult at this point. Doesn't help they have a superiority complex and seem to just have so much contempt on "flat screen gaming". I sometimes get the feeling they're bitter about the fact that VR didn't take off as the "next evolution of gaming" as they were expecting. It remains a niche gimmick despite Alyx releasing 4 years ago and there still haven't been a major VR exclusive game like it.
I am not playing flights sims because I do not have HotAss controller, same with racing sims - using pad or keyboard instead of racing wheel is just wrong. With this game, it is not designed around flat screen gameplay and experience without 6dof motion controls and head tracking. Play if you want It will affect only you not VR players, because later on you will feel that the game was bad.
@@juu226 Flight and racing sims have varying degrees of how sim they are. Obviously you're not getting the full intended experience without the necessary peripherals, especially with the more niche titles that focus on complete authenticity, but don't pretend a large chunk of the core gameplay is lost on non-specialized peripherals. Assetto Corsa is completely playable and even competitive with a gamepad thanks to mods and tweaks. Microsoft Flight Simulator is very casual friendly. Even DCS is serviceable with a gamepad and keyboard together. You claim it will affect non-VR players but the VR enthusiasts here are hellbent in discouraging people from trying this, why do you people care so much? Let people decide themselves if they will think it'd be a bad experience based on their choices.
@@Nachy Basically I wrote same thing, don't know who are those "you people" and I don't care if someone will have inferior experience, it is their choice like mine chosing not to play flight sims without HotAss, I tried MFS on gamepad and did not like it.

Even my 13400f has a slight bottleneck with my strix 4080 super even in 4k but not much. Not like this lol I have to say your bottleneck isnt horrible at 4k. Cant imagine 1080p though lol. Ouch
This abomination should not exist. This is how you ruin a masterpiece. A quest 2 is listerally $200. Such a shame that someone spent how much for a 4080 and yet is too cheap to add a $200 Quest 2 to play an absolute masterpiece.
It really should be played on the format it was designed for, its going to be too easy and the depth of actually feeling like you are in the world is stripped away with a flat screen. That being said if you are unable to use VR or just cant afford the headset i suppose you could play it this way but dont expect it to wow you or be a difficult game.

Looks like it would be perfect in VR
By the way I have ultra settings on my 2060 with 70-80 fps :)
How funny that this card can do a lot of
dayum
still waiting for valve to put this out for non vr user if yall are lazy to make a 3 then at least make this available to other platformstoo :(
Everything looks so small on this side of the screen.
and its on sale too 😃
This makes you appreciate HL2
How?
@@youdonegoofed because graphics in hl2 are still pretty nice looking and hold up well
@@TemSuitButOnRUclips Time to take off those nostalgia glasses, investing in a pair of actual glasses wouldn't hurt either.
@@youdonegoofed it could be that, but you gotta admit the game still looks great
@@youdonegoofedsorry but I’m gonna to have to disagree I don’t have that much nostalgia for HL2 but the game is still rather good looking today. HL1 looks like absolute dog shit now but still is so much fun to play.
У современных геймеров, какие-то проблемы с внимательностью! В самых элементарных местах, не могут найти выходы и решения, а многие вещи в виде магазина, пропускают, хотя лежит рядом с патронами, которые игрок подбирает.
the bottleneck is insane , i suggest you upgrade your cpu to amd latest 7800x3d or intel 13th gen
if intel 13th gen dont have problem with half life
12th gen is enought
This really showcases just how AGONIZINGLY slow you really are moving in game.
Like, I love the game a lot, but couldn't they have added a sprint? Jesus...
Why does 8k look to real? Fake almost. It's odd and can't explain
I prefer to no play if it's not in VR. This game was perfectly designed in every aspect for VR.
No shit sherlock
Sooooo Alyx is Episode 3 dlc?
Alyx would be Half-Life 1.5, the events in Alyx happen between HL1 and HL2.
I think we have given vr enough gimmick
I tried a VR at a store and hated it, felt weird, and hurt my eyes. Got to try this...
It’s called motion sickness I think
So without the VR facade it actually looks rather shit.
no way! a game which it's main selling point is being a VR experience is not so good without it? how could one imagine that!?
Wow, this is terrible copmared to the vr version
Can this be played on the steamdeck
@@cenichi The steakdeck IS a PC....
yes
First of all, i don't understand why. Why do we try to play the game that was designed for VR in flat screens. Second of all, i have no idea how you will solve some puzzles in this game because they work good only in VR
it's mostly bc frustated people who were expecting a HL3 but had to deal with a VR spin-off game instead (+ poor people in third world countries)
@@Polengueif there very poor I don’t think they’re Nokia can run this.
needs a mod to make it more harder since its a VR game first
В этом моде очень кривое передвижение, постоянно обо что-то спотыкаюсь, втыкаюсь в невидимые препятствия и т.д.
Is this mod complete?
I mean, it looks playable, but it's far from the fear and fun of actually being in the world of half-life.
just get VR its worth it trust me
no.
I can't believe we had to w8 for a freaking mod... Valve could've of easily made an official non vr version so annoying.
? That would have been pretty dumb on valve's part
No RTX, not 8k
a 4080 with a 10700f....? bruh why; I have a 4070 super and a 12900k and the 12900k limits it at times.

Movement looks iffy
Because its a mod, the game is meant to be played in VR, it doesnt make sense at all playing it like this dude, don't judge if you have no idea, it makes you look like a mongolic.
For me it’s the reaction of the hands and arms, it doesn’t feel hefty enough when guns are firing

This game is meant to be played on VR, it makes NO SENSE to play it like this, all the movement, reloading interaction etc is made by YOU with the headset and the controllers... how are you so dumb?
Vsync is on
This feels so wrong
They should've made that from the beginning. I was so angry when they made a VR only HL game.
If it doesn't do something different gameplay wise it wouldn't be Valve
Man dropped 1k+ on a gpu but cant upgrade that cpu LOL. Shame man.
A poor mans Alyx experience.

Maybe he is poor, but he has a kind soul. All those rich ppl who like to show-up are disgusting
VR fans in the comments scrambling to justify their overpriced toy now that people can play this regularly. Love to see it.
you can get into VR for way cheaper now than it was back in 2016-18, you can find used quest 2s for like 200 and run this game perfectly fine on a 1650 and above. So idk what overpriced means to you this mod was out during release so its not a new thing
@@aqilardi5266 You can find Quest 1s for about 100 bucks, those will still give you a good PCVR experience.
Its always funny to see people having no idea of vr. Well, if you wanna miss out on an awesome experience.... you do yours ;-)
Lol, don't cry
VR is so cheap nowadays, wdym, lmao
Lol, turn off vsync to see max fps
If you have an 4080, why the f*ck you desactivate the VR Mod?
Holy crap does this player suffer from chronic reloaditis - shoot 3 shots from the pistol, reload.
In VR you had to manage ammo, all the half-spent magazines are waste!
I only Using, Max Payne Sound Patch, and Requiem Avenging Angel From GOG.
The Rest many Shooters From 1997-2009. All Original ISO, No Digital Plattform.
You Should never Using Mods, this is Stupid
Plays like a Zombie game compared to Half Life 2's exploration theme. Valve doesn't know what made previous games successful. And no, I don't care for VR. The fact that this game depends on a gimmick like VR to be relevant is indicative of its shallowness.
VR bros mad in the comments as usual lmao. It's also funny how this mod doesn't even remotely affects them, yet here they are seething and crying.

Ouch bottleneck 4k and still dropping down to 87 utilization yeah. Thamk god these gpus are good enohgh to do 4k so we dont have to worry as much about the cpu. Even my 13400f has a slight bottleneck with my strix 4080 super even in 4k but not much. Not like this lol
I have to say your bottleneck isnt horrible at 4k. Cant imagine 1080p though lol. Ouch
It is running in 8k check the title
It's not bottleneck it's just locked to 60 FPS.
@@valentinvas6454 Well, it would be locked to 60 fps if it didn't drop into the 30s every time something explodes.
Pancake gamer
Big framedrop every time an antlion explodes. With this game being originally for VR you'd think it would be optimized.
Doesn't make sense to play this game without vr LOL
This abomination should not exist. This is how you ruin a masterpiece. A quest 2 is listerally $200. Such a shame that someone spent how much for a 4080 and yet is too cheap to add a $200 Quest 2 to play an absolute masterpiece.
It really should be played on the format it was designed for, its going to be too easy and the depth of actually feeling like you are in the world is stripped away with a flat screen.
That being said if you are unable to use VR or just cant afford the headset i suppose you could play it this way but dont expect it to wow you or be a difficult game.
ok and?
@@moenesca If you play it without VR it will just be a sub-par half life game
@MasterMark5 ok and? you are assuming that people who wanted this mod care about it
