    Auf ein Video von dieser Strecke mit diesem Zug habe ich schon lange gewartet! Super, dass Du dieses Video gemacht hast. Der ICN ist eigentlich mein Lieblingszug und auf der Strecke St. Gallen - Zürich kommt dieses "in die Kurve liegen" speziell zur Geltung - fast wie in einem Flugzeug! Herzlichen Dank!!!

    Has Talgo, which also has some sort of tilting mechanism, ever been tested in Switzerland? And if so, how did it perform in comparison with Pendolino? Asking because I've recently read that the Germans are going to replace the ICE T (which is based on Pendolino) with Talgo.

    • @RailwayEmotions
      @RailwayEmotions  2 года назад

      Talgos used to run in Switzerland a while ago, but they only had a passive tilting system for comfort reasons and were always pulled by a locomotive, thus we're not any faster than other trains. It's not comparable to the ICNs active tilting mechanism that leads to higher speeds.

  • @JC-ik6vr
    @JC-ik6vr 3 года назад

    Brilliant video - many thanks - just one question... How much time has been cut from the journey from St Gallen to Zurich (and on to Lausanne) by these new trains? I appreciate the increase in comfort, and probably power efficiency etc from the new trains, but really what is the benefit time-wise?

    • @RailwayEmotions
      @RailwayEmotions  3 года назад +1

      I don't have exact numbers, but all these small adjustments allow for half-hourly or hourly connections on bigger stations and a well-working integral system. This is the main goal.

      @Bellator-dk1bg 3 года назад +1

  • @briancooper562
    @briancooper562 3 года назад

    Because the train body tilts, does the cab units have two snow ploughs? One on the body, which tilts, and is part of the 'aero' and another on the leading wheel bogie assembly as the body plough will leave gaps to allow for tilting.. Does the area round St.Gallen suffer 'lake affect' snowfall. An increase in snowfall due to wind crossing the Bodensee lifting moisture which turns to extra snow?

    • @RailwayEmotions
      @RailwayEmotions  3 года назад +1

      There is only an aerodynamic "plow" on the body itself. No idea regarding the snow, St. Gallen is a bit higher than most cities and probably gets more snow anyway.

  • @dixiedean1955
    @dixiedean1955 3 года назад

    I must admit I was a little surprised by how slow a speed these trains are allowed to go. The occasional curves must be quite restrictive. In the UK a lot of EMUs are now permitted to travel at around 170 kph anywhere that's reasonably straight. I guess the curves we have must be less tight. Could someone tell me how speed is indicated, I couldn't see any signs?

    • @RailwayEmotions
      @RailwayEmotions  3 года назад +1

      140+ through towns and cities is not what I would call slow. Signal distances also limit the speed. It is shown on a tablet or paper charts that we carry with us.

    • @dixiedean1955
      @dixiedean1955 3 года назад

      @@RailwayEmotions I guess I particularly meant the stretches of quite straight track in the countryside, but even compared with the UK some of these were relatively short. Do the charts you have "move" as you travel, or do they just mention a location and you have to know where that is?
