Plenty of subtle flavour here. Love the sound of the loco systems winding down at the neutral sections, also love the way you were regulated through Oerlikon to keep you moving and slot you in behind the train from Schaffhausen/Stuttgart. Thanks for sharing \m/
A very interesting line this, with the feel of a single-track branch line but served by double deck InterCity trains. Particularly interesting in the Snow. You can certainly see the gradient climbing out of Kreuzlingen.
I was looking at the scenery running in the snowy landscape, but when I saw the video of entering the tunnel in front of Zurich Airport Station, I felt as if I had seen the scenery of this line before. The scenery of that route (? May have been part of this line) I had saw before was not the snowy season but the green season. Thank you for the wonderful video!
I also find it interesting that there's a passing loop at Berg (15:10) and then there's another section of double track beginning about 30 seconds after that. That looks a newer section that was put in more recently? Also interesting that we were routed on the right-hand track on that section.
Very interesting and enjoyable cab ride. The snowy terrain makes a nice change! With the introduction of the Double Decker EMUs for InterCity services as well as the modern rolling stock, you hardly get to see the old Double Decker IC 2000 coaches anymore. Modernization is nice but sad at the same time. Also one more interesting thing I noticed was the train besides you on PF 3 at Winterthur. It arrived after you and departed barely a minute before you. And then you caught up with it at the airport too. I checked the SBB timetable. At Winterthur if you were the 12:01 IR75, was that by any chance the 11:54 IC1 to Geneva which was running late? If that is the case, then the IC is also supposed to have a halt at Oerlikon, is that why you were slowed down before Oerlikon, since it must have taken its halt on the platform ahead of you? And after that it must have taken the Weinberg tunnel to get to HB underground platforms and you were switched to the Wipkingen Tunnel behind the train that came from the Schaffhausen line? Just having a whole lot of speculation here but I found it all very interesting.
The IC2000 are still in service and will remain the backbone of our long distance route rolling stock, the Twindexx were just newly introduced to some lines, like the IC1. The IC1 was running late, which is why we went slowly out of Winterthur. The slowing in Oerlikon was probably due to the IC1 in front, but also the Intercity from Singen/Stuttgart was running two minutes late, you can see that one coming in from the right. It shows that every minute counts on our heavily used network. And we still reached our destination with only two minutes delay.
Thank you for your great videos. One thing I have wondered about is what the flashing white light on a pole means. You can see this at 8:19, 8:40, and again at 9:08. The 9:08 light seems to stop flashing at 9:18, right before the train reaches it.
They show that the following level crossing is properly closed and safe to pass. They do not stop flashing, but are LED and therefore not always picked up by the camera.
What happened to the lineside transformer buildings? RhB have a few left in the Inn valley ,so does SBB (station before Thun southbound is one) Usually a square plan, 3 stories high, sometimes 4 sides pyramid roof but dependent on local area designs. I assume with progress in reliability and efficiency they where destroyed to recycle the electrical materials inside? Knocked down rather then trying to get the equipment through a small door or a hole in the wall. Now using sub stations and lineside switching grids?
Helo everyone, good evening! I tell the reason, y i searched this video! Unfortunately my brothers live in Ravensburg now! Ravensburg is in German. In this february i was operated with prostate cancer unfortunately. It's august now, but 100% that i couldn't go 2 visit them in this year! But i hope that i WILL go there in da next year! But unfortunately it's 2 long by car! So iwanna fly and i'm searching the perfect airport n da perfect soulutions to go to Ravensburg n or Winegarden, or 8n german Weingarten!
So how many ex CIWL carriages do you think now reside in Swiss railways sidings? Are there enough to make up trains of the pre 1940's? Some may exist in there post 1940.s guise as CIWL successor company(s). Mitropa(1925), DSG and TEN, Or its competitor TEE. Could be difficult to run commercially as some US company owns the rights to the graphic/colour combination. Could be a charity/demo/publicity running of a train throughout the Swiss network.
Btw question: How is it possible that RE 460 and IC2000 go to Konstanz in germany while the vehicles are not equipped with PZB ? As well as we saw a german signal at the exit of Konstanz
V means Vorwarnung, so the signal after the next one shows red. It's only used on those very short signal distances, because showing orange only one signal ahead would not be enough go come to a stop.
. Gruß aus Holzdorf (Sa - Anhalt )
The quality of this video is really bad. It's pixelated to the point that the tracks one meter in front of the engine is just convoluted blob of randomly moving pixels.
Well the quality is indeed not the best, though it's not pixelated, but more of an unclear image due to the camera itself. If you have pixels, then that's something on your side or you didn't use the HD stream. On the other side @railway Emotions. If you would make a lokalhelden donation for a new, cristal clear 4K camera, I would love to give something towards it :-)

Excellent video. I love how the train is regulating the speed in the Zurich area, chasing the green signals.
I really enjoy the glimpses of every day life in this video, like the couple at 7:21 walking hand-in-hand in the snow. Nice.

I absolutely love the GTO converter sounds on Re460 😍
A winter wonderland thank you cheer's bob from hot & sunny sydney.
Wie immer ein professionelles Video. Danke.
Amazing.
This is as epic as adventure can get. Thank you
Thanks for this, a monochrome Switzerland is quite a change.
Super, great! Take there to work.

The double track after berg is only a few years old and makes the route a lot more flexible in case of minor delays.
Love watching your videos. Dave from Philadelphia Pa, USA

An other good cab ride in Switzerland I been on that service IR75 but I caught it between Zurich and Luzern in 2018
Endlich neues video!!!
1:22 ->1:30 These sounds :D :D
You can hear it twice in the video, will you find the other one?
@@RailwayEmotions At the other electric section with 'smiley' button of course :D But i don't remember the timecode :/
@@RailwayEmotions the one before Oerlikon station.🤗 Also, when you lower your pantograph, does it mean the engine of your train switch off?

Why do you never show date of your videos, map and technical information about trains ?
So how many ex CIWL carriages do you think now reside in Swiss railways sidings? Are there enough to make up trains of the pre 1940's? As well as we saw a german signal at the exit of Konstanz
Konstanz is obviously fully equipped with ZUB.
@@RailwayEmotions Okay thanks, i didn't know that ZUB was working with german signals as well ;)

V means Vorwarnung, so the signal after the next one shows red. It's only used on those very short signal distances, because showing orange only one signal ahead would not be enough go come to a stop.

Super Mitfahrt. Vielen Dank.
Is this route serviced by DB or SBB?
100% SBB, however the german infrastructure is obviously kept in shape by DB.
😎👍
Neue stimm vo SBB isch richtig müll. Alti stimme isch geil gsii, vermisse si jetze scho 59:00

You tried loading in the 4k version of the video? I don't have such bitrate-problems
@@nasim_png What 4k version?
The quality of this video is exactly the same as all others. Either RUclips or your PC don't like grey winter landscape.
