Same, I really hope it ends up with at least as nice an interior as the cat and ideally has a similar flight feel (though if we could get some vtols in the front that'd be great)... But i also want the cat to get a cargo grid rework when it eventually gets its modules
@@eggyrulzwish you could lower the floor of the cargo modules to ground level. That would move them out of the way of the catwalk while also making it significantly easier to load. You'd also be able to load and unload vehicles that way.
Im sitting on a C2 and a C2 -> Ironclad upgrade. If it's worth it then I'll apply the upgrade. In the meantime i have the C2 without big money tied up in the Ironclad. Can always melt the upgrade if it sucks.
@@justinjacobs1501 The only issue i have with that, is that the cargo grid would still be the worst one in the game... i mean you basically need a mathematics degree to optimize the box layout in that stupid grid
I wasn't sure if I really wanted a MPUV Tractor, but man is it useful to have in your hanger. Great for flipping vehicles that spawn upside down, moving the ATLaS around instead of having to walk it across an XL Hanger, etc. In EPTU I have been using the Tractor on the Polaris to hold and run my boxes for gear as well as components, on and off the ship since it is hard to get smaller inventory items on and off when docking is your only option. The ability to snap storage boxes and components to the underside is awesome. If only we could get a Garage door opener for the hanger bay...lol.
This is a great video. I love my Polaris. The only thing I will say that is when you’re doing cargo hauling at ground locations, you have to be careful even with support players can come and start grabbing your cargo out of your ship and your hanger. I spent like 20 minutes one day, trying to knockpeople out. They were trying to steal my cargo with boxes. We’re actually all hitting each other with the cargo and I finally just got fed up with it.😂
Has CIG made it to where we don't have to keep someone in the pilot seat so that our ship doesn't get stolen or does 1 person always have to remain in the pilot seat to protect from pirates
The Caterpillar could be vastly improved with one change... Make the floors of the cargo pods into elevators that lower the cargo to the ground. It solves the clearance issue on the left side, makes it possible to load ground vehicles, and would make loading and unloading so much easier. I also like the mental image of standing on the catwalk watching the cargo drop down to ground level.
they are going to re work the cat soon and the door were going to lower to the grounded but due to time back in 2016-2017 the did not get too it and the cat well get mods for it as well, the ship should have tracker beams... but well see what CIG does with it when they work on drake ships once more.
Shame all the Herc's have become rocking chairs when you open their doors. Thanks to that, had to use my Caterpillar loaner for Save Stanton. The Ironclad can't come soon enough.
Great video! I was hoping it would make a great secure transport. And yes I am not melting the Caterpillar. Once it gets modules it will be the best ship in the game.
The cat ain't got shit on the polaris when it comes to space looting/piracy. I literally parked an atls in the upper hangar, and looted some insurance scammers straight into the top hangar. Dropping stuff to the cargo bay was an issue, so when I landed on gh, I just shot all of the crates from the upper deck out to the side. It was funny, but easier than getting your stuff caught on the railing or the loading bay doors in the cat
The caterpillar was a nightmare for me to load and run cargo with. It’s a nightmare to load it by hand and it’s a nightmare to unload it even if you autoload it sometime the boxes get stuck the Zeus CL is even more of a nightmare.
As a Cat owner I feel offended :P she is perfect on loading unloading even solo. I actually have a little method to the madness by now and that speeds everything up wildly :D
24 X 24, that's not just fast for hand loading, auto-loading will be depending on how many boxes you need it to move for you rather than how many total SCU, 24 boxes for auto is also fast and cheap. so basiclly, Polaris' cargo bay loading is one of the best cargo bay design in this game, probably the best.
the first thing you said about the caterpillar almost made me disagree with you to the hilt but current game play you are fairly correct. there may be advantages to both currently 10 year or sooner from now the railen and the caterpillar will be the 2 fastest load unload ships in game. the caterpillar can have like 50 people loading it either from ground or better yet space but when you cant carry the largest containers in any orientation it really has its limitations. unfortunately for a railen ship i wonder if its forced to remove contents from a human 24 container to 3 8 scu xi containers??? what a pain to pirate with a railen but if you have xi containers for a railen there is no faster option the only reason an iron clad would work good is because your bay is so large you can just toss the load to a messy pile and organize it in quantum otherwise a ironclad would be 1 of the slower options
Why I'm waiting for the Ironclad, to be a big armoured cargo ship.

@@private_citizen Yea i plan to stop my ccu chain at a caterpillar until the ironclad releases and i can test fly it

the Perlaris can actually hold double if use top hangar for the big containers you just need to use a argo tractor shuttle to get them out and in
I can't be the only guy to use the MaxLift to toss boxes over the top.

WHERE DA IRONCLAD AT
Hey there fellow space nerds

I think starlancer Max is also good pirate ship if we want to steal big boxes quickly.
Great tips! Thanks for sharing! 👍👍
My biggest ship is my reclaimer. Don't think I'm ever gonna have a polaris but thanks wookie for the video!
Shame all the Herc's have become rocking chairs when you open their doors. Thanks to that, had to use my Caterpillar loaner for Save Stanton. The Ironclad can't come soon enough.
That’s fixed in 4.0 fortunately.
Love it, great little video. I want a Polaris even more now. Lets hope things smooth out for the new year and 4.0
Great video! I was hoping it would make a great secure transport. And yes I am not melting the Caterpillar. Once it gets modules it will be the best ship in the game.
People have managed to fit 2500scu and more, by using the argo cargo to fill the hanger

I've never heard anyone pronounce SCU as a word! I've always said it as S-C-U.

Whats cargo?... oh, you mean "carger"?

Curious what everyone thinks about the Carrack vs Cat now that the pods open on the carrack?
Ooooooh. I like this plan.
Just an indication that the cat needs a cargo refactor.
Wookie you GOTTA play Hardspace: Shipbreaker, I swear that game was made for you.
oh I already have lol
In time the fuel, repairs and ammo for the Polaris is going to be a LOT more expensive!

as of right now I have all 3 of those ships, cargo ant going to move its self now.
I laughed at the idea of owning a Polaris (for me) but now I'm wondering about the possibilities.
hello, fellow space nerds!
Man didnt think about this i should of kepted my polaris and get the tractor mpuv
C2 is king.
It'll work until the put the fuel prices back where they are supposed to be. lol
Make one trips until the fuel runs out. Park the polars, Claim a new one. Scrap the old one with the Reclaimer. Prolbem solved....
@@vonrosphe3098 until claiming doesn't refill the fuel tanks. Like I said, it'll work until CIG fixes the loop holes.
And suddenly the prospect of applying my Perseus CCU chain the rest of the way seems much more appealing…
Polaris is the loaner for a perseus!! So no need 😊
