The worst part so that there are some actually interesting ideas here. Like the branching paths that let you deviate from the story to add replay value and see what you can do differently. Unfortunately everything else about the game is just as poorly held together as a walker’s decaying body
Man seriously on both of your comments. Such a bummer because if this concept could have gotten in the hands of the right devs we could have had a great game. Idk maybe because I loved TWD I’m just a little more disappointed
A walking dead game where the choices you make actually influence the story is a million dollar idea yet somehow AMC keeps selling the rights to the team who will do it the cheapest, not the best.
AMC has dropped the ball constantly with TWD IP and somehow people are still surprised when they do cheap bullshit like this, they fire people constantly, do we not remember what they did to Chandler Riggs (Carl Grimes), because I do, he explicitly said he didn't want to leave the show, he was forced to, and a popular theory is that they didn't want to pay him an adult salary. AMC is a cheap ass company that got lucky with TWD and stole the entire show from the original writer. Every single flop decision they make doesn't surprise me, and Telltale was a god damn miracle to them, and they even fucked that up too.
The problem is Game Mill Entertainment and their in-company policies, no doubt in my mind. I'd bet they have poor communication, a leadership team that's fully invested into new games and new projects and not patching existing problems, huge crunch, and always looking for new IPs to make cash grabs with. The whole company screams a specific type of leadership vision that's so toxic to both the games themselves, the people working there and the industry.
NO the problem is the fanbase that buys every game that gets a trailer You all Pre ordered THIS game and you got THIS game so dont cry if you pre order it
The most baffling part is that this is a very clearly unsustainable business model as it is because what they make back is mere pocket change compared to what it took to make it even if it maybe took a year and a half for this one and rise of Kong
@@sonicartzldesignerclan5763 I'd agree that is true with big studios and IPs like CoD, Pokemon etc, but not here. Most of us laughing at Gollum, Kong, Quest for Balance and now Walking Dead didn't buy any of those games. I know I didn't.
The concept is cool. The Walking Dead storyline but you can actually make some changes to the canon. But as soon as it was said that “Gamemill” were making this game, it was dead on arrival. Also don’t sleep on the Telltale Walking Dead games. Those are fantastic! The only good Walking Dead games are by Telltale, after that series, it was all downhill from there

Im glad you made it clear that is not the developers fault, it falls on the publisher. They control the budget and time. I wont even be surprised if this was made in less than 12 months.
I see everybody hating on the devs or the publisher but I see nobody hating on these “Big IP” for selling their product without doing any sort of due diligence and simply trying to make a quick buck. I mean honestly look at how many cash grabs The Walking Dead has had with the 5+ games and about 40 spin off shows. The games are trying milk money but don’t forget, so are these IP.
Could have been amazing with the right amount of time In development, and I hate to say it, maybe a different team, and or budget. I’ve had telltales in my back catalogue for about 3 years and I’m just now playing it and you are right it’s absolutely phenomenal
This game would’ve been amazing if it was actually given proper care and attention… Being able to choose your own path and alter The Walking Dead’s story sounds absolutely amazing!
Man, I was hoping this would be fun! Did play The Walking Dead Survival Instinct recently. Low Budget too, but this one was a blast. The game has a decent story. There is a pretty good variety with weapons and equipment that can be found. The systems of saving people and sending them on supply runs offers some replay value and also the map gives you the opportunity to decide how you want to play.

What depresses me, is that a “the walking dead” game could work. If a company actually put some work into it. But the companies that take the step to make the walking dead games minus tal tell all suck.
For me, my favorite TWD game is Saints & Sinners, but since it's a VR exclusive, it might be less known. However, this game's just phenomenal ; definitely one of the best VR games out there : the gameplay makes your survival thrilling and the story changes depending of your actions (which quests you want to do, if you want to kill NPC's or not, you basically choose to either be a saint or a sinner... hence the title). It just delivered the perfect TWD experience as a VR game. It would be great if we've had that to flat-gaming too (even though the Telltale games had great stories, there is something to do in the gameplay department)
would it be possible if the walking dead destinies add more seasons in its game? like i know how horrible it is but i can't get it out of my mind if it will add more seasons in its game as an additional content or dlc.
What I did not like is that Andrea wasnt in the game, and Curtis is not there either, so the real problem there is that you are forced to kill Maggie, Beth or Carl. Andrea's sister or Morales or Carol's husband are acceptable maybe but not Curtis or Andrea because they are very relevant to the story.
I can't really be mad at this game tbh. it's so hilarious. I don't even think it's bad anymore it's just HILARIOUS. I keep laughing when watching it I just can't be mad I don't know if its weird to think that.

I haven’t played this game yet and so far I’m not impressed with everything I’ve been seeing about it. The only question I have is could this be a relatively fun game that someone who was a fan of the show for the first few seasons to play after work for a couple hours each evening just to see how the story can change. I’m talking straight up guilty pleasure like how we used to have an arcade experience where you have crap going on that you’re at a disadvantage immediately, but the chance to see alternate scenarios from the show being the only real real reason to play the game

Yup. I fell off hard after ssn6. I couldn't forgive that cliffhanger. They were already on thin ice with me with how they did the dumpser dive fake out, which could have been an easy fix, had they just had another character witness Glenn fall, and have the camera behind the character witnessing it from a distance, so the audience sees what that character sees, and from that characters perspective, as well as the audience, it looked as if Glenn was killed. Simple. What you don't do, is break the fourth wall by having the camera deliberately trick the audience, making me go "oh there was no reason for the show to take that perspective other than to trick me," which pulls me out of the show and makes me realize there is a cast and crew and director there deliberately tricking me with stupid boneheaded decisions. And that cliffhanger totally sucked out all of the dramatic tension and emotion that that scene should have had. It wasn't the fact that it was a cliffhanger in and of itself, it is that they chose a clliffhanger over a good and comepelling scene. They ruined it. I didn't give a crap who died after that. I half heartedly tuned in for episode 1 of ssn 7, but didn't watch from then on. I had lost faith in the writers. It was so not needed, especially with how great the ratings were. That just is not how you film a scene like that. Oh yeah, we are talking about a game. My bad. Guess I have been holding that in for a while. Lol And damn, this is, in theory, the The Walking Dead game I have always wanted. Getting to wander around recreations of the shows environments and living out 'what if' scenarios. Damn.

I thought this was a top-down/isometric shooter so I excused the Low Budget graphics/models since you'd never see them up close, but holy hell I can't belive they went with a third person camera.
The second I saw an ad for it on Facebook and I saw the character models I knew it would bomb. Such a shame. I love TWD. And I wish we got something with the choice like this to change the story, but also something more triple AAA.
@@knavenformed9436, it was made by different teams, but published by Sony. Still, Days Gone is underrated and it's style is very much like Walking Dead.

Nice to hear someone talk about how good season 1-4 was of the show. Peak television was the governor showdown. I fell off at ricks last episode. AMC is just greedy now.
My guilty pleasure game is TWD Survival Instinct 😅 I can agree it's objectively bad but damn for a 5 hour game it's a FUN kinda clunky and I still remember it fondly
After REDFALL got dragged over the coals and made fun of by everyone for the static cutscenes, for GameMill to release a huge IP like the Walking Dead with the same exact static cutscenes you know they absolutely didn't give a sh*t about this game or their customers.
If this was actually done right I would have like to see this expand to other franchises. What if Luke joined the dark side? What if Spidey sacrificed himself in Endgame?
Why do you guys never blame the developers and the publishers? Both are clearly at fault. They only release atrocities. Im an engineer and when a project is a failure it is always the fault of both parties, so giving these people a pass just allows them to not improve.
This COULD be true, but it's definitely on a case by case basis. I'm in Product Management and I've definitely seen situations where a poor product was released because executives or 3rd parties mandated an unrealistic schedule and scope and the dev team did the best they could.
it's a cool idea, but other than the game being bad, to be honest, they picked the wrong seasons for this "what if this happened instead" mechanic...the earlier seasons was way more person vs zombie like you said. but wouldn't be better and more tense to introduce something like this in the Negan era? imagine playing as Negan and making choices. Imagine making choices in Alexandria with Negan as a prisoner (or Negan taking Rick as one, instead?) what if you made choices that extended the war?? makes weapon variety make more sense, too. even making a game based on the newer spinoffs would be better with new zombie types in the canon. or even this idea but like, Fear the Walking Dead instead...I want a canon where Nick lives, genuinely one of the best TWD characters made. anything other than making a video game in 2023 based off seasons of the show that aired in 2010...
No Man's Land, a mobile game from 2015, remains the best TWD game based on the show. Also, Saints and Sinners Chapter 2 released on PS4/PSVR1 the day before this bomb dropped.
Here's where I *do* blame the developer: If you have a year or two years for a dev cycle.... MAKE A GAME THAT YOU CAN COMPLETE IN A YEAR OR TWO YEARS. Even AAA devs with tons of money have trouble doing sprawling branching path epics. I absolutely guarantee you if you gave the TWD license to some indie devs and told them to make whatever they want as long as it fits the IP and is done in a year, you'd have some amazing smaller-scope games.
I enjoyed the game. I definitely had to use my imagination but it was fun. Every movie or TV game is usually of poor quality. Everything said in this video is completely accurate and the problems with this game are ridiculous but in my "special" mind i found it entertaining to look for the next flaw in the development and laugh because it's actually funny. I'm not sticking up for the game or would i recommend it to anyone. I did enjoy my two play throughs so far and I'm happy with the purchase of the game. It's definitely not for everyone. Great video thanks, it's the best on the subject I've seen and sorry you didn't like it the game.
I agree I was excited for this game initially because of the concept of it and I still love TWD today, I started a rewatch recently in preparation to binge thru the new spin offs, didn't bother with Fear and the other ones they were god awful, but the new ones definitely have gotten good good reviews with characters I care about, but this game tho really seemed promising... Until I seen it was published by Game Mill and that was all I needed to know 😅 They didn't even do anything interesting with the gimmick it was going for because everything basically happens the same as it did in the show but with swapped characters. Hell Shane wears Rick's murder jacket too

I can’t for the life of me understand why no game developer can nail The Walking Dead. The fandom is there; the characters are established, the plot and side plots are already written, the lore is inherently interesting, the actual actors have shown they will work on side Walking Dead projects, etc. But low and behold, every time we get a game out of it, it falls flat. I just don’t fucking get it. Tell Tales game was and is good but it doesn’t quite scratch the itch we want out of an actual Walking Dead game.
I don’t know about you guys, but I really loved the survival instinct. Maybe that’s just kid me talking and I haven’t played it in years but the game honestly was pretty good from what I remember.

TWD and Invincible is great! But by this logic you can see things a lot more clearly!
Both these shows have many great scenes with lots of buildup… but they also have a lot of boring filler!
Great idea, horrible execution. Why can’t we get a good TWD game based off the show?!
The closest we got is state of decay 2.
Cuz the zombies dont run
I thought this was a top-down/isometric shooter so I excused the Low Budget graphics/models since you'd never see them up close, but holy hell I can't belive they went with a third person camera.
The second I saw an ad for it on Facebook and I saw the character models I knew it would bomb. Such a shame. I love TWD. And I wish we got something with the choice like this to change the story, but also something more triple AAA.
Imagine if the team behind The Last of Us made this game…👀🔥
Or Days Gone
@@alonemax2912 or state of decay
@@alonemax2912
Both are made by Sony's studios
@@knavenformed9436, it was made by different teams, but published by Sony. Still, Days Gone is underrated and it's style is very much like Walking Dead.
So I am curious, not that this is an issue or anything I'm a fan of both your channels but this I'd a recent game, so hiw do you determine what game is covered on this channel and which is covered on your other channel? Again just curious
Nice to hear someone talk about how good season 1-4 was of the show. Peak television was the governor showdown. I fell off at ricks last episode. AMC is just greedy now.
And i am still crying that maybe we never gonna get a new Telltale walking dead game. What a timeline to be alive.
My guilty pleasure game is TWD Survival Instinct 😅 I can agree it's objectively bad but damn for a 5 hour game it's a FUN kinda clunky and I still remember it fondly
Just wish it was backwards compatible for the Xbox One.

After REDFALL got dragged over the coals and made fun of by everyone for the static cutscenes, for GameMill to release a huge IP like the Walking Dead with the same exact static cutscenes you know they absolutely didn't give a sh*t about this game or their customers.
Did you say Avatar is a bigger IP then King Kong??? Um... no!
I recognize that background music for this video but I can't place it... what's it from??
Was anybody expecting their games to be good in the foirst place?
Until I seen it was published by Game Mill and that was all I needed to know 😅
They didn't even do anything interesting with the gimmick it was going for because everything basically happens the same as it did in the show but with swapped characters. Hell Shane wears Rick's murder jacket too
If you haven’t, you should play twd: Saints and sinners. It’s really a dope vr experience of twd.
Looks fun to me. When it inevitably goes on sale, I'll pick this up.
Game Mill strikes again.
Maybe early access mode would have helped. Everything seems so underexploited. Otherwise, it is a very good game for 2006.
The Walking Dead: Destinies does make the idea of a "what if," The Walking Dead story sound a lot of fun.
What im schockt why is nobody talking about the fact his Favorit game of the year is life of p. THE RPG GUY and starfield came out and baldurs gate 3 maybee the best ratet game ever. And your Favorit game of the year is a souls like clon number 27. the game was fine like many souls likes but its the Definition of a week long playthrough and probebly never thinking about the game ever again
to be fair the devs do pick the contract and agree on time. Maybe not the dude who 3D models characters but the studio for sure does.
Greater games have been made in less than a year by one developer
These “Cutscenes” make me wanna cry ngl lol
2023 was like "Hey gamer.." ... "yeah you!" ... *poops in hand and throws it bullseye in the face!
Tell Tales game was and is good but it doesn’t quite scratch the itch we want out of an actual Walking Dead game.
i think a walking dead survival open world mmo with rpg mechanics would fit the best
I don’t know about you guys, but I really loved the survival instinct. Maybe that’s just kid me talking and I haven’t played it in years but the game honestly was pretty good from what I remember.
Nice video man respect you massively keep doing what you’re doing 🎉😊
I really just don't understand why we can't get any good TWD games except Telltale and Saints & Sinners, like IMAGINE a TWD game like State of Decay, it could be sooo good, I don't get why nobody is doing it. State of Decay 3 better have a Walking Dead DLC
State of Decay 2 has been out for years. They're continuing to update but I doubt they'll create any new DLC. Did you mean State of Decay 3?
@@ThinkerT oh yeah lol my bad, typo
So, Gollum, King Kong, and then this game? I really am beginning to suspect money laundering within the company.
I don’t know how this company got the ips for Kong Kong, Avatar, AND the Walking Dead!
This game with more time and budget could have been ine of my favourite games ever
If they had telltale made this game, would’ve been a masterpiece
Dude the characters look like Hobbits when compared to their environment like the hospital for example. Rick was like half the size of the door.
It's crazy how we just got a company that randomly started trying to pull this stuff like it's 2003 again
I feel bad for the devs BC it sounds as if they were kinda passionate about this game but they didn’t get to realize that vision in time.
How did they get the rights to this franchise name
12:08 That some early 2013 era of ROBLOX type of gunplay!
Im surprised we dont have a anti game awards at this point like
Worst game of the year
Worst monetization
Worst e Sports team
Worst audio and stuff
I've never laughed so hard until gamemill came around. After gamemill apologizes to people for ripping them off, I'll like to thank them for all the laughs.
They can’t keep getting away with this! I refuse to believe that this game company is profitable and making money for the sales. There has to be some back room conspiracy theory for this company to keep surviving and putting out this low quality garbage.
Rockstar, please make the open world TWD game just like RDR2...
12:11 he's flexing on us about how much of a gamer he is
its gonna be my some kind of guilty pleasure,i like how we can choose and can alternate from the original story.
that is the only thing that i like from this game.
