I finished Origins a few days ago for the first time and now I’m nearly done replaying City and honestly Origins was way more enjoyable to me. The story, the setting, the boss fights, the Batsuit and the performance for Batman were excellent to me. It’s probably blasphemy to say this but I loved the angry and slightly unhinged Roger Smith’s Batman. Conroy holds a special place in my heart but I loved him more for the animated series.

      Wholeheartedly agree.
Conroy's performance in the original BTAS is an all-time classic. His range was incredible but he was monotone after that, which only truly worked for old man Wayne in Batman Beyond.
Origins' voice cast was fresh, yet fit so well, particularly Baker sounding almost identical to a prime Hammill.
Although different to Rocksteady, the atmosphere, look, and music in Origins captured the essence of Batman.

I started running through the closed alpha test of Suicide Squad today, so this vid is very appropriate. It is kind of crazy how much people crapped on Origins and even Arkham Knight, vs how loved they are now in retrospective. Speaks to the toxic negativity that surrounds many releases these days, and people wonder why we don’t get sequels to some beloved franchises. I’m not surprised WB looked at the vitriol surrounding those games and assumed no one wanted another Arkham game. Those games are fantastic though. And Origins had hands down the best boss fights of the series. That one especially really needs a remaster on current gen consoles. I had to play it on PS Plus streaming (at like 620p) last year when I ran through the Arkham games again.

  • @AxelOwnz

I love Origins and hate that it has never been remasted or included with the others. I played it when it came out and I love it just as much as the others. Combat was just as fun, the city was bigger, and I love the winter/christmas setting. I would totally buy a remaster if they ever did one. Until then I guess I just have my 360 copy to use on my series X which is perfectly fine.
I have Blackgate too. Got it as a Christmas gift when it came out. I don't think I ever finished it. I just didn't really care or have much fun with it. If I tried to play it again I would probably bust out the PSTV.

I'm currently on the firefly section of the game. It's so insanely good to play to this day. Only this things I hate about this game is the glitches. To this day I still have the shock gloves glitch that doesn't let me do ground takedowns when free roaming. And when I take down a thug and don't properly finish the animation the thug will get back up immediately and hit me from behind as I try to ground takedown another thug. Really annoying 💀

Matty my man, we could be brothers. Thank you so much for making this video. Arkham Origins is absolutely my favorite and I was feeling a little left out today with everybody talking about the trilogy. And also my favorite time in gaming that I miss the most, and that I'm actually kind of reliving right now is that era with all the licensed games that would have multiple versions on multiple consoles. Right now I'm playing a bunch of superhero games and I'm making sure to play there portable counterparts as well and I found that some of them are as good as the main game and sometimes even better even better because they're completely different

  • @Goldnfoxx

Except for 1986's Starflight, Akrham City is my favorite game of all time. Arkham Origins took what City did, gave us more of it (and as Knight proved, I was NOT ready to move on from the formula these two games put forward...STILL not), expanded on it, asset-flipped it, and turned it into a seasonal must-play game for me. And I'm still royally pissed off that we never got a follow-up to it. So much story was teased and then just left on the table: Enigma becoming Riddler (which could stand to be the best story this series had to tell if handled right), a large mystery surrounding Bane's involvement, following up with Shiva, and potentially a chance to use a bunch of Batman's lesser-known foes rather than return to the same guys the way Knight did. Origins also had the best Mad Hatter stuff, and Deathstroke material by FAR. Roger Craig Smith and Troy Baker turned in _excellent_ performances; I still remember being completely unsure if they'd gotten Mark Hamill back for Joker the first time I played it because of how close Baker got to Hamill's cadence at times. The lack of follow-up is just money left on the table.

@@Full_Send_Gaming right. My concern is it's thought of as a lesser game for some reason. Not that it wasn't part of the trilogy release. It holds up incredibly well especially on pc. Especially if you have an Nvidia graphics card you get all these cool physics like every individual piece of paper having its own physics and the smoke deformation. Also the visuals and atmosphere is just insane in this game it didn't have the same grittiness as City and Asylum but I don't understand when people say it looks worse because it definitely looks way better. And this last part may be subjective, but Origins also have the best batsuit aside from maybe Arkham Knight suit

  • @briantidwell651

The reason for the underrated nature of this game is the overall feel of the combat… On the face of it, it seems like the newer studio, just copied and pasted the combat system from the OG trilogy, but they didn’t…. What we ended up with on Origins was basically facsimile of the original combat system (same button presses) but there was definitely something funky about the latency of each button press… I couldn’t pull off combos even half as easy as in the original trilogy… everything else in the game was fantastic though

I loved the enemies on the roofs and how the fists don't make a color flash when you punch. Those are my only concerns with Arkham Knight. Origins isn't horrible, but the issues are prevalent enough that it would need some major fixes before getting a re-release. The challenges in particular are poorly-implemented and sometimes nigh impossible, especially since they have to be done in a specific order. (See especially that "four exotic takedowns" challenge in Worst Nightmare, which cannot be performed in most locations and which can be easily thwarted by both fussy requirements and uncooperative enemy patterns.)

But the first two are Devil May Cry games (DMC4 & DmC: Devil May Cry being seond and first respectively) but the sheer nature of those two games make them extremely replayable. Arkham Origins was a good game! Definitely doesn't deserve the hate it received. I wish they would do a remastered for this game

I honestly believe that if someone started a poll asking readers, viewers, gamers, and random fans if we believe and want a remaster of this awesome game, the answer would be definite landslide "YES" we do want a remake/remaster, that Warner Brothers would not be able to ignore, a poll on RUclips or well respected game or media giant where we can all vote.I wonder if the problem just lies with licensing issues or other reasons, I know the remasters are only the Rocksteady games and "Origins" is WB Montreal ,but something needs to be worked out ,I'm not the biggest fan of remake/remaster but if they were to pour in some love, sweat & tears this game would be a massive hit for Warner Bros that they simply cannot ignore, at this point they're just leaving big money on the table and would be foolish not to make.

Earlier this year i played this game for the first time and expected a drop off from the core 3 games, and that is not what i got at all. It is completely on par with the rest of the series and dare i say i enjoyed it more than asylum. Its also beautiful on PC

It's funny cuz Rocksteady acts like it doesn't exist. But they use Firefly & Deathstroke from this game and put them in Arkham Knight as if it was all tied together. Meaning it does exist. So the fact that they didn't release these all together just seems like ego at the expense of the consumer. And the Mr. Freeze DLC was really good.
It's backwards compatible on the xbox but it's not available in the store.

Definitely an *Arkham Origins* enjoyer here!
My biggest issue was dealing with the fact that no, I wasn't really going to get Black Mask as the Big Bad, but after that disappointment was over I learned to love the game all over again.
I became a big Roman Sionis fanboy thanks to Jeff Matsuda's *The Batman* 2004-2008 cartoon that aired when I was a pre-adolescent, Black Mask [voiced by my man James Remar, who also played Frank Gordon in the live action show *Gotham* , Peter Gambi in the live action show Black Lightning, Hawkman & Shadowthief in the JLU cartoon, Two-Face in the Batman:TBATB cartoon, Icicle Sr in the *Young Justice* cartoon, Silver Monkey in the weird 3D show *Beware the Batman* , and Warden Cole in the live action show *Human Target* , who popped up a couple times in *Arrow* ]
Anyway, Matsuda's Black Mask only had 2 episodes dedicated to him, but they were some of my favorites from the whole show...
Then in 2010, Roman Sionis got a full episode of *Batman: The Brave and the Bold* dedicated to him, [voiced by the one and only John DiMaggio], so I became even more interested in that film.
I was an adolescent at the time, I already considered Batman to be my favorite super-hero but I hadn't have the time/funds to dive deep in the comics (plus I lived in France, where the issues were more experience and the translations weren't always great)
so I mainly relied on the live action & animated movies for my DC fixes, plus all the great cartoon & tv shows; I was a kid when *Batman:TAS* came out, and one of my favorite gifts on birthdays & christmas were the VHS with episodes of Batman:TAS in them, and of course the animated movies, and Batman Beyond...
But I'm not here to talk about that!
I also love *Origins* Deathstroke, because the live action tv show *Arrow* had its second season starting out in October 2013, and Origins also came out in October of that same year, and spoilers alert........
That second season was the one in which Deathstroke (played by Manu Bennett) was the Big Bad, and his armor looked a lot like the one from *Origins* !
The joke at the time was that the armor was too bulky, and looked like something put together using hockey equipments
In subsequent seasons of *Arrow* , Slade's armor did seem lighter, and when his sons Grant Wilson (started of in *Legends of Tomorrow* season 1 and ended in *Arrow* season 7) + Joe Wilson [they don't call him Jericho in the Arrowverse, just Joe] in seasons 6&7, they also had decent DS armors+masks/helmets.
But hey, before them the only live action Slade we had was the one played by Michael Hogan from *Smallville* season 10 (2011, just one year before *Arrow* season 1 came out), that almost everyone hated at the time (because actor too old & too short & no costumes & got one shotted by Clark Kent anyway) even if I thought he was kinda cool thanks to his badass metallic eyepatch fused to his skin, that was neat. But that was still when costumes superheros in live action were lame
And sure, later live action armors that Slade would wear in the show *Titans* (played by Esai Morales) or in the DCEU (Joe Manganiello) would look so much better, streamlined, you could actually buy that one could move unencumbered in those.
The *Titans* one and the *Justice League: Snyder Cut* one both took inspiration from 2 iconic looks of the DS armor in various comic books & cartoons.
    WAR DC

  • @Noliving

I think it is correctly rated, the environment is essentially a straight copy of Arkham city, same with the Riddler challenges. The only thing they did for a change was the Crime Scene Investigation and adding a quality of feature of fast travel. Positives for it is a good story and better boss battles, relative to Asylum or City they did not really do anything much to advance the Arkham franchise in terms of gameplay. It also has more technical issues than the first two games, especially on the PC. I just finished playing it for the first time on the PC and I had to reinstall the game twice due to files being corrupted, thank god I was able to back up my save files.

Boss fights were so hard in this game, the amount of times I have died fighting was so annoying but also so much fun. The story was really good and I wished if it was even longer.

I legitimately don't get the hate about it back then.
It has its flaws but I had a blast with it from beginning to end.
Also, the cutscenes were so well-made, and loved how brutal Batman was with everybody.
I would easily take this one over Asylum✊

Arkham Origins reminds me of Ben Affleck and Andrew Garfield. At the time people hated them and criticized them, then after some time went by you realize they were actually kind of the best iterations and not as bad as you thought!

I really don't understand why they not release it for the next gem consoles? Like you said, we got the Switch release, we got the remastered versions for the PS4. But the origins game STILL remaining on the PS3/360 platforms. It's time that we get a remastered origins for PS5/Series S/X and PC. I played origins for the first time a few months ago, and I absolutely loved every minute of it. This game deserves the same treatment as the other games.
The only thing I need to admit, and I guess many people as well, that Batman Origins should have been released on PS4 and not PS3/360. The frame rate on PS3 is so terrible, it's unplayable. The only platform to play this game smoothly is on PC.

I enjoyed Blackgate on 360 but I refused to buy Origins when a dev said they would not patch major problems but only release dlc.
In other words they were only working on something they could sell, not something free.
Maybe they released a needed patch eventually but by then I was not interested at all.

This gonna sound crazy but I didn’t even know origins was a game till like 2019 then I got the 360 version and popped it in my Xbox one at the time and fell in love it’s honestly my 2nd favorite of the Arkham games it’s a shame they haven’t remastered this yet because it fully deserves it and I’m glad people been coming around on it especially more so with the new suicide squad game coming that honestly doesn’t look that good I just hope it flops and then they remaster this hidden gem or even make a sequel to it

    • @jimmythegamer2231
      @jimmythegamer2231 11 месяцев назад

You shouldn't hope the game flops, that's incredibly stupid. It would be better for everyone if Suicide Squad ends up being good. Sure, it will probably be bad, but if it doesn't flop and it's actually a lot better then it looks, that would be great.

Back when it came out, I very much enjoyed it and I really liked the story. So when I see Warner Bros constantly ignoring Origins, I’m always annoyed. But I’m glad that Rocksteady acknowledged Origins in Knight
