Great little experiment. Thanks. Others have already commented on measuring water absorbed with weight, but another follow-up would be a dip test or roll off after 5 seconds or so. One of the way to protect from water is moving it away. Kind of like how some tires keep traction better by channeling or "removing" the water from between it and the road. The logic being water can get "stuck" on, say roughout thus it has time to absorb than smooth. It would be interesting if the waxed flesh performs more like a waxed surface or roughout.
I was thinking the same thing about weighing them. It would be a test that you would have to have an initial weight. Then every hour and see how it changes. I will consider doing that and getting back. Weathershield is a much tougher leather and would be a better choices for the elements.
I have predator orange in urban drifter. I dont see that leather as a dressier leather. Too me a dressier leather you dan polish and make it shine. Just my thought. Honestly i would like 3 more pair of Nicks in different leathers i love mine!!
I'm wondering if it would be possible to weight the leathers then suberg the leathers for 5 hours then wipe them off and weigh them if that would give some good data almost seems like preditor orange is the most water resistant which is very interesting i have water shield leather thought it was the best for water
Good info, thank you. I'm surprised the drop of water didn't just evaporate long before 4 hours or so.
Thanks for the test! I'm having Nick's Officer in brown waxed flesh. Never had my feet wet , even when washing of mud by water :)

predator leather has a wax layer on top, that probably helped the test
Great video! Thank you.

I wish I knew which leather/kiltie was which that you were talking about. Over time you can connect the dots.

Thank you for doing this.
