Simply profound, exquisite music. Buxtehude's remarkable. Alleluia!
Para mi ; la única versión creíble e igualmente culta , bella , y espectacular......! Gracias One and Only.........etc..
Fascinating! Very good content, TheOnlyAndOnlyZeno. ☺️
Thanks very much - more to come every day :)
I just realized that it bears a strong resemblance to the passacaglia in Händel's Suite in G minor HWV 432, only in the style of Buxtehude.
Bears resemblance to the ‘Alleluia, Amen’ section of ‘Zadok the Priest’ as well
It is the same harmonic progression - I don't know whether it has a name but it's the circle of fourths.

My favorite Hallelujah/Allelujah. And the best performance on RUclips. But Zeno, is there any chance you might score some of Michel-Richard Delalande's sacred pieces? I want to leave you a link but it might be forbidden so here's what's available - and remarkable at that - especially the historical French Latin pronunciation of Hallelujah which sounds like Ah-leh-lee-ya to me. Regina Coeli S53/De Profundis S23/ Cantate Domino S72/ASV Label/Ex Cathedra Chamber Choir & Baroque Orchestra/Jeffrey Skidmore. Perhaps made in the 1990s?
I have heard of that composer, but not looked too far into it, I will definitely consider doing scores of his someday, but it won't be for a long time to be honest.
I have abandoned Zelenka :O
for now... to work on almost 15 unique romantic and modern symphonies, of which almost all are massive works over a hour, almost 2 hours long. I need to dedicate nothing but time to them otherwise I will never finish them.. so expect some very large works soon! And not just symphonies.

What a odd choice that C# at bar 186. I wonder if it is an error and was meant to be a Db.
Yeah that should definitely be a Db. I would be surprised if Buxtehude would write a C# and C natural together in the same grouping.
@@sameash3153… sounded fine to me.
@Jasper7182009 C# and Db are the same notes. The error wouldn't be heard. It's a notation error.
The reason we consider it an error even though they sound the same, is because Buxtehude is conceiving the Db as the upper neighbor, that is, the note ABOVE C (while C# would be merely an altered version of C). The melody has a "mi-fa-mi-re" type of movement to it. Therefore, the upper and lower neighbors should be different "letter names". Db-C-Bb, not C#-C-Bb (which also mixes accidentals).
fantastic!
