Half of my family from Syria (I am Canadian Libyan) ....Syria is wonderful country to live especially when it was before war 2011...I believe they are settled now. Also Tunisia is great place to live. You will live like a King even if you earn minimal 30000 USD per year. My home country Libya is as expensive as North America but I do agree with you about Afghanistan.

Lol, I understand your surprise! It’s definitely not a conventional choice. Thanks for your input-always good to hear different perspectives. If you have suggestions or thoughts on more typical retirement destinations, I’d love to hear them!

It is not so simple as it sounds. I give you my example : I was born in an Eastern European Country, and moved to Italy for work reasons. I am in my 30s. now. As an immigrant, you don't have access so easily to well paid jobs. So if you don't have a high qualification like : engineering, medicine or similar, your income at least when you start, or after you graduate will vary between 1500-2000€ at best. But the more you go to a bigger city, the costly will be to live. The rent (1 bedroom apartment) will take 50-60% of your income. Adding gas to your car and bills, will take up to 10-15% as well, so you are left with 25% income for food and other expenses. Assuming the average of 1700€ monthly (if you're lucky) that will make you save like 100-150€ max, if you struggle hard. But you still need to live, socialise, integrate, and feel part of the community, you cannot just work. So tell me, how the hell you can save 300-500€ month, when you are at the beginning of your adult life, when you have the most expensive period, especially when you want to make a family? Would you go to live in Iran, Syria when they are fighting each other and among themselves in the name of God? Would you risk your family?. This American Cult of financial freedom, makes me sick. They give you a demo, in order to sell you an online course, and if you fail, it's all on you. I find you people as disturbing as Pick Up Artists. We, in Europe, see things differently. We already know if you are not from the middle class, you cannot invest seriously, in order to see true results.

Thank you for sharing your personal experiences and the challenges you face. It’s incredibly important to recognize that financial advice often doesn’t take into account the varied and complex situations people like yourself are in. The reality of high living costs, combined with the hurdles that immigrants often encounter, can indeed make the concept of financial freedom feel distant or unrealistic. Your perspective is a valuable reminder that one-size-fits-all solutions don’t apply universally and that we need to consider a broad range of experiences when discussing finance. It’s clear that context matters greatly, and your detailed example helps illustrate the stark differences in economic opportunities across different regions and for different people. Thank you again for adding depth to this conversation and for reminding us of the importance of inclusivity in financial discourse.
