Thanks for sharing 👍. When I dipped my toes into investing in the stock market 10 years ago I made so many mistakes and stopped. I'm a bit late in the game now, but I would like to learn more from you and build a strong portfolio for myself going forward.
MAN - I wish you would have told us about the presentation file at the BEGINNING of the video! I typed everything out by pausing the video... Great information though. I'm looking forward to hearing more details about how you determine Intrinsic value. Thank you!
Valuation is one thing a lot of people miss, especially when it's about high-dividend paying companies, forgetting that high dividends are sometimes for supporting the stock price of under-performing companies. I have a good portion of my portfolio in dividend and growth stocks, and I've realized up to 20% over the last six months. It's yet about a strategic approach, rather than running after 'hot' stocks or high dividends.
As a soon-to-be retiree, keeping my 401k on track after a bumpy 2023 is a high goal. I've read about investors generating up to $250k ROI in this present sinking market; any suggestions for increasing my ROI before retirement would be greatly appreciated.
A lot of folks downplay the role of advisors until being burnt by their own emotions. I remember couple summers back, after my lengthy divorce, I needed a good boost to help my business stay afloat, hence I researched for licensed advisors and came across someone of utmost qualifications. She's helped grow my reserve notwithstanding inflation, from $275k to $850k.
'Sharon Ann Meny' is the licensed advisor I use. Just research the name. You’d find necessary details to work with a correspondence to set up an appointment
One of Joseph’s best qualities is his humility and eagerness to learn from others. This is a masterclass in how to generate alpha in the stock market. Great video.
I didn't start out as a dividend investor, fortunately my 401K was in growth mostly and even though I had a modest salary for most of my life I just kept my mitts off of the retirement account. Now I rolled it into an IRA and bought dividend income stocks. I wasn't able to compound dividends over the course of decades, I just got here by market growth. Now I'm making $62K per year on $600K
I don't invest with the thought of whether something is hi-yld/hi-div growth. I just buy quality companies and ETFs and do so on the individual merits of what I am buying. I am nearly 58. Your portfolio yields more than mine and admittedly has a higher div/grth rate. Most of my dividends come from my Roth IRAs. My taxable accounts are slowly catching up to dividends produced from my IRAs while my IRA dividends are also increasing annually.
If one is in their 40s and just started investing (have 401k from work). Should they just focus on growth etf since it will be too late for them to see real benefits with dividends?
I wouldn't say early 40's is 'too late' for anything related to investing. If you have at least 20 years left to put money into the market then I think growth is a nice way to lean. I think value/dividends is good to have at any age in any market. I do both. The best part is I still enjoy my life while I do this. Travel, and only buy things I love. It's often wise to get with a pro F.A for the best investment style considering your situation and circumstances. I did with about $210k in the wake of the pandemic, and seeing what could happen made me want to prepare myself to be able to weather another financial storm should it ever arise, today my portfolio is now valued at approximately $2.3 million.
I’m trying to get an advisor for guidance but it’s harder than you think. Anyone who is fee-based is hard to find and usually have a heavy workload. Would you be comfortable sharing a recommendation if it’s not too much trouble
Oh very well then, conducting due diligence on Lina Dineikeine should suffice. She has established a notable reputation over time, and her system is acclaimed for its outstanding quality. Good woman!
What a master class. This is the video to share with your friends and hope they pay attention. Your most thorough video ever on how to find good companies and you've made a lot of great ones.
It is a great video on how to find good companies. But which is a better buy - a great, fancy popular car that everyone wants to own or a normal, overlooked one? You can't answer thst question, because the best buy is *entirely* dependent on one thing that Joseph did not talk much about - how much you pay. Valuation is literally everything. Everyone wants to own large, predictable, growing, cash-generating businesses. You don't beat the market by doing the same as everyone else. What generates higher returns that isn't just luck is entirely what you do and see differently that is also right. This is a great video about finding good companies, but that doesn't help much in being a good investor.
This was an eye opening video. I've read about operating leverage and organic growth from papers and such, but I don't think I have ever realized how important these factors are when trying to find quality companies. You just put it into words so well that everything clicked. I have been "value investing" for a while now, trying to estimate the intrinsic value and only investing in what I feel are undervalued stocks. I have thought to myself that I have been smart in my investing. My problem is that I have not really focused on quality as much as I have told myself. My analysis on the quality of businesses has been pretty much only qualitative. Like "this is a fairly large company that has had a decent CAGR..." and so on. The examples you gave on STABLE FCF/per share, organic revenue growth and operating leverage really got me to understand the quantitative ways to analyze quality. I thank you for this incredible video explaining your philosophy, it is extremely valuable.
Nice overview. Wish you sort talked about how industry matters as much as market share in Buffetts approach. Its why he has AXP, MA, V and COF, and AXP is a much larger part of his portfolio than V or MA. Its also why ADP, PAYX, PAYC and PCTY have all outperformed despite the larger two losing market share. Theres industries that Buffett has stayed completely away from, and some he buys parts of the whole industry like payments and banks. If an industry's current cash flow yield and/or its future growth is larger than the market, a whole industry can outperform despite a company losing market share. Especially when it has low levels of reinvestment and high total shareholder return. Also just for clarity, Berkshire owns part of Citi lol I dont want to come off wrong here though, this is by far the best overview of Buffett's approach I've ever seen on RUclips. The idea of investing a significant sum of money may be both thrilling and intimidating. There is potential for considerable wealth increase with the correct strategy. How can one take advantage of compound interest and potentially grow your retirement savings/net-worth to about $3M over time?
the strategies are quite rigorous for the regular-Joe. As a matter of fact, they are mostly successfully carried out by pros who have had a great deal of skillset/knowledge to pull such trades off.
Even with the right strategies and appropriate assets, investment returns can differ among investors. Recognizing the vital role of experience in investment success is crucial. Personally, I understood this significance and sought guidance from a market analyst, significantly growing my account to nearly a million. Strategically withdrawing profits just before the market correction, I'm now seizing buying opportunities once again.

I agree with you. I started out with investing on my own, but I lost a lot of money. I was able to pull out about $200k after the 2020 crash. I invested the money using an analyst, and in seven months, I raked in almost $673,000

I think investors should always put their cash to work, especially In 2024, we'll start to see more market diversification. I'm hoping to invest about $350k of my savings in stocks against next year. Hope to make millions in 2024
Since risk is at an all-time high right now, perhaps you should be a little more patient and return when it has decreased. Alternatively, you can consult a trained financial expert for strategy.
Yes true, I have been in touch with a brokerage Advisor. With an initial starting reserve of $80k, my advisor chooses the entry and exit commands for my portfolio, which has grown to approximately $550k.
Angela Lynn Shilling is the licensed advisor I use. Just research the name. You’d find necessary details to work with a correspondence to set up an appointment.
Like Warren Buffet said, dividends are only good if the business you’re investing into can’t make good use of that capital. So if you’re trying to invest into businesses with actual growth, looking at dividends is a waste of time. Why are you investing into a company if they’re returning capital to you because they think you can make better use of it than they can. It’s not much different from bond investing. The way I see it if you have a million at some point, that’d be enough to create a portfolio that would pay you between 50k-70k in dividend income.
It's not difficult, but you have to learn and handle. Another thing is that if you can't manage your home, maybe you shouldn't invest on your own. If so, you should hire a CFP to help you diversify your assets to include ETFs/index funds/mutual funds and stocks of companies with consistent cash flows, rather than betting on penny stocks.
A lot of folks downplay the role of advisors until being burnt by their own emotions. I remember couple summers back, after my lengthy divorce, I needed a good boost to help my business stay afloat, hence I researched for license advisors and came across someone of due diligence, helped a lot to grow my reserve notwithstanding inflation, from $275k to approx. $850k so far
Over the following 3 months, I want to increase my reserve from $280,000 to at least $550k. I would be grateful for any advice you can give on how to accurately predict the market and how to diversify and balance my portfolio in order to accomplish my goal.
Thank you! Excellent! Also many other of your updates! I listen to them when I'm cleaning or cooking where no thinking is needed and which I find otherwise so booring 😂. Still, I often forget to like them. ❤
I agree with everything in this video. The reasons on when to sell are 100% how i handle them too and i also had to sell some companies because i overlooked something that i did not see when i made that buy.
I just want to say thank you for sharing your playbook on how to invest in the stock market. A bunch of these super investors just give out tidbits of valuable information here and there. You feed us the information by the bucket. Can’t wait to finish college to implement this strategy.
That is why I have my interests set on key sectors based on performance and projected growth to my 7 figure portfolio. They range from the EV sector, renewable energy, Tech and Health alongside coins, and gold. I'm also working on an investment plan that includes AI looking into Nvidia, MSFT, Alphabet stoccks among others with my FA, Anna Rounds Fay. It's been a year and half of steady growth...
many individuals miss out on gains due to actually NOT being in the market and waiting for the chance of a crash. Perhaps it's wise to do both partially
I like most of your picks and philosophy. Would you call Netflix monopoly-like with so many competing streaming services? Will pricing power be maintained over the long term?
Intrinsic value comes from reinvestment of the retained earnings at high returns. Compounding. If you buy a bond which gives 10% interest and you can reinvest the interest every year in a new bond at 10% yield you make obviously much more money than if you cannot reinvest the interest or at a lower yield such as 5%. The same effect happens internally in companies. They just do not invest in bonds but in real life projects and business opportunities. Stocks are in a way like bonds which automatically reinvest the interest, just the interest rate is not fixed and the investor has to find it out /project it by analysis.
Amazing video, A friend of mine referred me to a financial adviser sometime ago and we got talking about investment and money. I started investing with $120k and in the first 2 months , my portfolio was reading $274,800. Crazy right!, I decided to reinvest my profit and gets more interesting. For over a year we have been working together making consistent profit just bought my second home 2 weeks ago and care for my family.
I’ve been forced to find additional sources of income as I got retrenched. I barely have time to continue trading and watch my investments since I had my second daughter. Do you think I should take a break for a while from the market and focus on other things or return whenever I have free time or is it a continuous process? Thanks..
@@ReginaldsKeiths Taking break may not be the best approach if you ask me. This is where an AI comes into the picture. I barely have time to trade myself as my job swallows up most of my time. A licensed CFA whom has made me over 5 figures in profit in less than seven months, handles my investments. I could leave you a lead if you need help...
Great video! Would have liked to hear more about position sizing as this is an underrated but very important factor in building a successful portfolio!
From my analysis on Warren Buffett I learned that he believes in "diworsification". Meaning that you should diversify up to the point where can comfortably track all your companies
I love the point about long runway for growth in total addressable market. Good way of wording something that I value. Think of growth in this way while looking for opportunities to forgive recent reductions in earnings and cash flow. It can help one buy growth at value valuations. If Mexico is in recession but has a healthy population pyramid for growth relative to the rest of the world, consider looking for an ETF. That’s a long runway for growth. If internet advertising giants are down in 2022, in a still increasingly online world, consider it a gift. Ad downturns end, and the digital runway is long. If cars are starting to use more silicon carbide microchips for powerful reasons, and there’s currently a downturn in auto sales overshadowing the long term story, consider this to not be financial advice.
I recently bought some recommended stocks, but now they’ve dropped to penny stock status. With the market tumbling, soaring inflation, and banks going out of business in the last half of 2023 and this year, I'm worried. How can rapid interest-rate hikes benefit a value investor, or is it better to avoid stocks for a while?
I agree. Even with great opportunities, we should proceed cautiously. Seeking market analysis or advice from certified market strategists is important.
Absolutely, having a solid plan is crucial. My portfolio has doubled since early last year. My financial advisor and I are working towards a seven-figure goal, though it might take until Q3 2024.
I think being consistent is key, specially if you have age on your side (just being younger) that’s worth way more then what you put in the market. I’m up 18 percent that past year. Look for deals when you can and let your un-invested money build up if you feel you can’t find any deals. Or just invest in a basket like VTI and do the same amount each month than forget about it. You’ll do fine just by doing that alone.. that’s what I do for my ROTH IRA and it’s been great ever since I started due to the average growth of the market year over year.
Hi Joesph, great video! I'm trying to apply some of what I learned in this video to "grade" my portfolio is before I make changes to it... The problem, though, is that its hard to go through the financial statements and use the correct numbers for some of the metrics that you use. For example, cash flow per share... what is the top-line number that you use before you divide it by outstanding shares? Is it "cash flow from operations"? Maybe in the future, if you are looking for a video topic, I think that a great video would be a break-down of how you go through a earnings statement to determine each of the criteria that you use for stock selection and portfolio management... A lot here, sorry.... I guess you just make it look easy... Thanks, John
Thank you Joseph, your videos and analysis have informed my decisions to invest in Costco, Visa, MasterCard, FICO, Netflix, Amazon and Google. It's these longer form deep dives on several great stocks that I find particularly interesting and valuable, especially for beginners such as myself. Keep up the great work, and congratulations on the growing portfolio returns 👍
Hi Joseph, question on INTUIT in the long run with lower population growth and automation replacing jobs do you see any risks with individual tax payers reducing usage of things like turbo tax etc limiting future growth of this stock? Just a thought. Appreciate it!
@joseph first thank you for the quality materiel of your channel. Always valuable advices! I do manage a concentrated portfolio of extreme quality stocks from my point of view. We share some love for a bunch of the same companies except one my top holding stock since the last decade that you don't have on your radar: ATD (trade on the TSX) Alimentation Couche-Tard. Would love to hear you on that star company that had always crush the market with top tier metrics and management team!
I have a question. When it comes to "monopolies" isn't it risky in a way? It takes a long time to get there and once they do then everyone wants to buy them...then once you're at the top isn't it possible for more and more business to eat small chunks out earnings? Tesla for example.....they were the leaders in EV's but now over time other companies are taking over the EV market slowly. Thoughts?
Hey Joseph! I appreciate your insights on not selling out of fear during a decline, but I'm curious about your thoughts on selling during an incline, especially when there are signs of market excesses. For instance, we're currently seeing the Buffett Indicator signaling significant overvaluation, the Greed and Fear Index indicating extreme market greed, and an inverted yield curve warning of a potential downturn. Additionally, factors like soaring P/E ratios, speculative trends in crypto, meme stocks, and NFTs, along with optimistic expectations of the Fed cutting rates, are prevalent. Do you believe it's still value investing to sell when Mr. Market is offering unprecedented generosity, and how do you navigate such situations? I'd love to hear your perspective in one of your videos. Cheers!
Let's take a moment and appreciate Joseph's dedication to teach us and make this wonderful presentation. Many would charge thousands of dollars to sell it inside a private course and he gave it for free. Thank you Joseph!

Indeed, this is truly a masterpiece video by Joseph! Share it with your family and friends! I'm a big fan of his "compouning machine" strategy for growth.
One of the real benefits of having a strong portfolio is that you want your portfolio to have the compounding effect; it isn't necessary for each company in your portfolio to be a compounder! For instance, Buffett uses his insurance companies as cash cows to then allocate capital to growing businesses!

I agree with you. I started out with investing on my own, but I lost a lot of money. I was able to pull out about $200k after the 2020 crash. I invested the money using an analyst, and in seven months, I raked in almost $673,000
Please will you be kind enough to share the details of the man that helped you?
Thanks for sharing. I curiously searched for her full name and her website popped up after scrolling a bit. I looked through her credentials and did my due diligence before contacting her. Once again many thanks
I’ve been looking to switch to an advisor for a while now. Any help pointing me to who your advisor is?
Angela Lynn Shilling is the licensed advisor I use. Just research the name. You’d find necessary details to work with a correspondence to set up an appointment.
I searched for her full name online, found her page, and sent an email to schedule a meeting. Hopefully, she responds soon. Thank you
This is such a well-reasoned guide to sound long-term investing. Thank you!
Stumbled upon your content recently. Love your work. Appreciate you sharing this with the public!
No way I just watched this video at no cost. Thank you!
I work with Olivia Rene Reyes
She actually appears to be well-read and educated. I just did a Google search for her name and found her webpage, I appreciate you sharing
I honestly think McDonalds applies to a lot of this. Im curious as to your opinion on that stock.
That's why he has Texas roadhouse and Chipotle
They have better metrics and more room for growth
@@MrDenjok Im not so convinced thats entirely true.
Thank you! Excellent! Also many other of your updates! I listen to them when I'm cleaning or cooking where no thinking is needed and which I find otherwise so booring 😂. Still, I often forget to like them. ❤
Thank you, Joseph. Sincerely.
I agree with everything in this video. The reasons on when to sell are 100% how i handle them too and i also had to sell some companies because i overlooked something that i did not see when i made that buy.
This was great! Thank you for taking the time to putting this together. Really high quality
This video is your best work yet. I'm impressed how you can continue to improve your videos
I just want to say thank you for sharing your playbook on how to invest in the stock market. A bunch of these super investors just give out tidbits of valuable information here and there. You feed us the information by the bucket. Can’t wait to finish college to implement this strategy.
This is a goated video on stock selection, philosophy, and analysis. You sir are doing gods work.
Joseph - Brilliant stuff, really enjoyed this. My question is how would you screen for stock selection based on your highlighted points here?
That is why I have my interests set on key sectors based on performance and projected growth to my 7 figure portfolio. They range from the EV sector, renewable energy, Tech and Health alongside coins, and gold. I'm also working on an investment plan that includes AI looking into Nvidia, MSFT, Alphabet stoccks among others with my FA, Anna Rounds Fay. It's been a year and half of steady growth...
Geez, strong performance in 2024. Kick down those Wall Street doors
many individuals miss out on gains due to actually NOT being in the market and waiting for the chance of a crash. Perhaps it's wise to do both partially
did a quick search and found her webpage. I must say her resume is pretty impressive.. will be writing her too
I looked up Anna Rounds Fay on the internet out of curiosity; she has a strong résumé

What a great and valuable video. Thank you very much for the content.
wonderful video Joseph! thank you so much for the education.
Thanks for the copy of the presentation. You are teaching me a lot.
Really like your line of thinking and profound analysis ! It makes total sense.
Great video!
I like most of your picks and philosophy. Would you call Netflix monopoly-like with so many competing streaming services? Will pricing power be maintained over the long term?
*I watch so many Carlson videos its not funny i searches his name and it was posted 2min ago lol, keep this amazing content up*
Intrinsic value comes from reinvestment of the retained earnings at high returns.
Amazing video. Thank you for such great content. 🙌
Oh please I’d love that. Thanks!

thank you. have you considered searching for high quality compound machines outside the us market?
True quality video. Financial education at its best.. Great work Joesph
Portfolio management truly underrated
Great video! Would have liked to hear more about position sizing as this is an underrated but very important factor in building a successful portfolio!
From my analysis on Warren Buffett I learned that he believes in "diworsification". Meaning that you should diversify up to the point where can comfortably track all your companies
@@TheCashFlowCompounder Good point! Thanks for sharing!

High quality content... Good stuff.
Can you share details of your advisor? I want to invest my increased cash flow in stocks and alternative assets to achieve my financial goals.
Thanks for sharing. I searched for her name and found her website. I reviewed her credentials and did my research before contacting her. Thanks again.
Thankyou so much Joseph. Very insightful great video.
excellent video. easy to follow for a beginner like myself. thank you!
Thank you Joseph, your videos and analysis have informed my decisions to invest in Costco, Visa, MasterCard, FICO, Netflix, Amazon and Google. Will qual trim ever have a DCF tool built

Great vide. Maybe the best I've ever watched in your channel!
Thoughts?
EVs never made money for most manufacturers
Cheers!
Very good video! Greetings from Germany. One Question: How is the free cashflow yield linked to the annual return... I dont unterstand

Great videos man ! What do you think of Nvidia ?
The compounding effect is showing!
One of the real benefits of having a strong portfolio is that you want your portfolio to have the compounding effect; it isn't necessary for each company in your portfolio to be a compounder! For instance, Buffett uses his insurance companies as cash cows to then allocate capital to growing businesses!
@@TheFoodFundThat way you also do not ever get in a rush to sell in order to materialize profits.
