Saw a 12C at COTA yesterday that’s been meticulously maintained with 40k track miles on it. The car runs 2:18’s all day. The new owner of your 12C is a good friend. Great job guys.
He really seems to know the car well. Having someone like that spell out all the issues before you buy an expensive car is invaluable. I had a PPI done on a 430 and it probably saved me a small fortune.
Sean did my PPI and was great; he knows these cars really well. The PPI allowed me to negotiate on the price since I was going to fix the issues. Had my 2014 12c spider for about 4 months and love driving it, it's an absolute blast.
It's always a treat to see someone like Sean working there craft and knowledge. These early cars look like a great candidate for Antigravity batteries.
McMedics are awesome guys and truly know these cars inside out. I've met Kevin who is very close to where I live and have been to their ATL shop. It was thanks to Sean's videos online of him sharing what to look for, his experience of owning a 12C for over 4 years, that gave me the confidence to buy my own 12C and I've loved every minute of it. Have the PPI done, call the local McLaren dealer with the VIN and ask for the service history, and do your own inspection. After that, just make sure you stay current on the maintenance like any car, and enjoy the smiles per gallon. Thank you for sharing!
Man I need to find a guy like that for Porsche’s he’s so detailed I love it. I called a couple independent shops near me for ppis and they didn’t rub me the right way but went with one and they didn’t even bore scope the car even tho it was a common issue on that year Porsche.
No pain no gain.... that Mclaren is certainly going through years of hardwork hard drive and weather whatever storm...Dan you and your team can do wonders and nail these issues without much trouble....greeting from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia....
You can 100 percent match any paint if you go to a good shop, you use a spectrometer and an existing panel. Those Metallics would require a blend but today there are so many oem metallics painters are getting used to them
I didn't expect him to have that much knowledge honestly. By the end I expected him to call the worker that originally assembled the car and ask why he missed a bolt 😄
PPIs are definitely a necessity for any and all super car purchase! And the Dealers of these super cars should all be required to take the time and learn everything about the car they sell, which they can simply do from being involved and asking questions about the car during a PPI just like what Dan did in this video. Kudos to Dan!👏👏👍👍😎🏎Because there are just way too many buyers of these super cars nowadays that are way more knowledgeable about these super cars than the Dealerships that sells them.
To my knowledge, the difference between the windshields is not spider vs coupe, it's whether you had satellite radio equipped from the factory. The extra antennas in the windshield are needed for satellite radio.
The engine bay always gave me the impression of "do not enter"...it was great having the undercarriage panels and wheel wells removed to see a bit of it's insides...
really enjoyed this video - thought it was great to watch his PPI and the results, now the BIG question is - do they do Lamborghini? and if not can they recommend a trusted company that does??? thank you!
This was a GREAT video! I learned a lot about these cars. I am considering one of these or a Gallardo or a 430. Ferraris are just so high $$$ right now and as far as the fun factor for the buck I can't justify the extra $30-$50,000 more for the 430. Struggling with the decision. Keep educating us fellas!!
PPIs can be fairly expensive on higher end cars, but they can easily pay for themselves. I live in Wisconsin and dealers here are required to do them, but you can't trust them, I've seen so many falsified.
@@normalguysupercar Ok...do you still do the buying consult/shopping...say someone comes to you saying I want a 458 or a 570 will you go find one or are you too busy?
@@normalguysupercar honestly most ppl don't care or would never know about 90 percent of this. I'm not sure all these little things will even decrease the value.

@@normalguysupercar in the end it made a little more sense because you were selling and don’t want to surprise the next owner. I did the same with my Porsche 928. Felt good!
I would not buy any McLaren unless McLaren Qualified - way too risky. A guy in our exotic car club has one of these and just dropped 30K on a repair to the suspension.
@@normalguysupercar McLaren Qualified means you get a warranty - so no out of pocket cost if one those ridiculous high repairs happen. People severely underestimate McLaren repair cost for the most simplistic repair. I love McLaren but without a Qualified warranty - that is no for me. As soon I locate a 720s in the color I desire and Qualified I am buying. Most McLarens can be Qualified at any dealership if they past the inspection. The mp4-12c may not be eligible anymore because of the age. This guy is offering a great service and I will hire to inspect my upcoming purchase.
What if I told you the things you see as warranty claims are inflated, or even misdiagnosed? Example, the warranty for 1 year on this car is $7,000. Let's say in a worst case scenario the DLD was bad. That's a $7,000 job for me, but it's a $14,000 dealer job. Very rarely will you spend $7,000 on a repair with me so you'll always come up cheaper than the warranty cost. Even if you had a worst case engine out cam phaser replacement at $10k, that's way less than 2 years of warranty. To have a legitimate $30k suspension repair, he had to have had a P1 or Senna, and even that is stretching it to full retail and milking labor.
@@McMedics Fair enough. I always figured they were adding the Mclaren labor and parts tax. The qualified is usually around 5-7 a year depending on the car. I am always quoted different prices. I will definitely reach out when I found the 720s I am wanting. I appreciate your expertise and knowledge. For so long there was not an ability to have independent Mclaren service.
