dude you have a gorgeous room...it's got that old school dark basement yet somehow still a mothership vibe...much more prevalent 20 years ago...I miss those days...recording and mixing was a living, breathing thing back then...the digital era has brought it's own benefits but does not retain the soul and mystique...it's sort of analogous to aviation...back in the day when every airliner had a smokey, whiny jt8d strapped to the back of it and several hundred switches in the cockpit, it just exuded nerdy excitement...nowadays you can practically fall asleep next to a departing airliner and some guys even fall asleep while flying them!

Thank you so much for these videos with you actually working the SSL desk. There is so much of things to learn from these type of videos. Don´t take these 3 latest videos off cos i will be returning to these SSL vids to learn more and also to show things to my music making friend too, like how the SSL still outshines even the digital DAW programs, just by signal routing alone ,hahah.
Keep up the good work,James dude and GOD bless you and the family,Amen

Extremely informative! Even without a desk as flexible as that SSL, your detailed overview is great as an example of how to set up a rock mixdown. Many notes taken! Thanks!

Again if you have the highest end PC (costing no more than $700 at base if you shop), then add the inputs etc, you can actually mix well over 300 tracks. More than 100 with loads of plugins (except for the worst hogs) Set up right, you'd be surprised :-)

Hi James, Can you tell me why each channel strip on your console appears to have a second fader above the main one? What are they used for?

Nice room and setup , I just hope it's acoustically treated and neutral , cuz if it's not , it just makes all the equipment in the room useless.
