Question: Amp Repair Guy. Have you seen or done Tom W8JI modifications to the 30L-1 were he runs just two 572b? The mod is fully reversible and do to the high voltage that Collins runs the 30L-1 the performance is increased. I have a 30L-1 and would like to have this mod done. 73 Joe
No, not something I would do 572b tubes are cheap when a customer buys with my dealer account and gets the dealer price. With only 2 tube filaments loading the transformer filament winding vrs 4 ,you are going to have more voltage on the filaments. This will lower the emission life of the tubes. Just pay the extra money
