@@davidvargas1070 that's her point and the point of his character. He even realised it in season 6 when he left them even though he wasn't actually going to die. Men holding their feelings and thoughts in are the problem for society, they lash out and destroy anything good around them because, ironically, they're too weak to face the demons in their mirror and force other people to do so through their actions.
They both do that in this conversation.... Secondly how is he lying? A person is under zero obligation to tell others what they think. Your mind is your own. Fyi in this scene she is a spy and is trying to gather information that, if she gets, will probably lead to his death.... So.....no, do not tell people shit you don't need to.
@@bobcougar77 absolutely not the case. No man is an island and Tommy is the perfect example, he destroyed every decent connection he had for the acquisition of power for the sake of it. @@veryfitting you're right, there are made-up gender roles, especially for young men today. Well, gotta clarify that one, there aren't even roles, but rules to restrict boys and men in their masculinity, such as "be vulnerable" and it's ok to cry" etc. I don't want to say that your dad is wrong for opening up. i respect his choice, and I hope for him he took the right one. If he wouldn't have done that you said you would be angry and frustrated with him. Well, this one on the other hand is your choice and as much as I would respect the choice of your father about talking or not talking I would respect your CHOICE of reaction, not necessarily your reaction. If you happen to be female, I very likely would respect even your reaction itself, cuz it is a female reaction and there are things about men you don't understand and you don't even have to understand. but if you are a man, then I would very probably give you the same answer I gave to the introducer of this thread: Man, do not open up to somebody if you are not 100% sure that it is necessary. Only do the things necessary for you and your family (which for a man often isn't done by showing true weakness or emotions). That doesn't mean you shouldn't show emotion, just choose wisely to whom you are. Someday, you will understand. Oh, and btw: If somebody holds something back from you that doesn't always mean that this person is selfish. Usually in such a context certain things are purposefully held back to make something sure or to prevent certain things from hapening, and very often a man who does hold back emotions wisely does it for everybody else except himself. For you to claim that everybody has to show you always their true emotions means not giving a fuck about everybody else, which by my definition is selfishness. Think about it.
@@omarbradley1272 I'm inclined to agree with almost everything you've said. In the case of my dad, him opening up is how our relationship has matured. To hold back usually leads to snapping from people, it's basic psychology tbh and to say that holding back in touch situations is a masculine trait is the problem that has created a lack of deep connection between men. I'm a man and so is my dad but seeing him cry when he's sad allows me to cry and be strong enough to do so with him. It is a weakness, in my eyes, to hold it in and pretend like you don't have negative emotions. The rules are changing and they should because, guess what, the data proves me right. There's less domestic violence the more the couple open up honestly, there's less generational violence between the father and the child too.
