This collection was a bit obnoxious, but still far more interesting than any of the sweatpants and hoodie oriented millenial athleisure fashion, with buckethats and bumbags could ever offer. The 18th century has so much variety - even within one decade, and has alot that can be seen even in modern clothing today. And styles that can be reinpreted in variety of ways by talented designers. So saying it has been done to death is a bit like saying pants are so last season.
really super easy. you just sit down. probably about mid chair instead of all the way to the back of the chair so the so side pockets can sit properly. but the whole thing was very structured. there were just panniers under it. panniers are only sticking off of the hips, not the butt. and if it were the crinoline or the bustle, it would simply fold up as you sat. modern people really know not a thing about fashion history or all the undergarments women wore for decades.
brilliant! i love everything about this show! yes, i would wear any of these looks! the prints and the color plalate are beautiful but the looks are a little tough. im inspired and will be trying to make some of these myself. (sadly i cannot afford the originals)
Are you going to tone it down a little ? Are you really going to have under wire skirts like that and multi tiered cake dresses with all that under wiring ? I think if you just imitate the prints, color combinations, and tone down the actual shape ( take out the structure beneath ) you could have quite a "commercial" looking dress, which would look great. Still a very striking look though. All the best in your sartorial adventure !
Loved the pure extravagance of this! Some of the trains looked like duvets, like you could lie back in it and already be lounging in bed, with your bag doubling as a pillow. But I have to say, the girl galumphing at 8.27 really pulled me out of the dream! I loved the pouty makeup and ribbons on the neck. Super marie antoinette
