If you hadn’t covered back opening you could store a 6 ft folding table. Useful occasionally for big sorting or with quilting

Thank you for sharing! You guys amaze me number 1 how well you work together and number 2 how well you do a job! No sort of kind of doing something. You put so much thought and detail into your projects! I’ve been married to my husband for 35 years and there is no way I would ever attempt to do this with him.
Your project is fantastic! Well done!
I always thought you did your diy’s in your kitchen lol. I would freak out thinking about your poor kitchen counter tops! Thank you again for sharing!

I love that dead space behind the unit. Attaching the bead board with velcro would give you a completely hidden safe space to conceal valuables, like an emergency bottle of wine.

When I put new counters in my kitchen five years ago, I went with Ikea countertops. Did not regret it at all. In fact I wanted to change up my craft room two years ago and put ikea countertops in there as well. I used Alex drawers and I too had a small gap at the end. YES, It has been my Cricut mat storage area for a long time now. 😍. Lol great minds!

I love hearing this!! Glad your countertops are still holding up. I can't wait to redo our kitchen after seeing how nice this turned out. I almost went with the Alex units. Like the idea of having them on wheels so I could move them around, but this built in had worked great so far!

    Your project looks perfect.
Really appreciate your time sharing the entire process. This was very helpful to me. I have a dedicated space in my work area that I plan to have as one of my work spaces. I have been looking for some time for the right piece to buy.
Your idea is perfect........I can now choose a combination of pieces that will be custom to my space. The entire build looks so easy and I love how yours looks.
The tip to add the caulking using two strips of tape.......valuable.........I usually do t like using caulk as it never looks “ neat “.........however this way gives a nice clean line!
The space for your cutting mats............love it. I have several cutting mats and that space .........yes indeed winner😊
    🥰🥰🥰

Coming right along and looking beautiful. Love the tips on building the base away from the wall to fit a larger counter and the painters tape caulking tip is amazing. My father is a retired builder in St. Louis and can caulk like a rockstar. He has tried and tried to teach me how he does it free hand. But, I am not confident enough and think the tape will give me the confidence. Thanks for sharing! P.S. I enjoy it when you include Brian's construction tips and tricks.

I’m driving 3 hours to the nearest ikea and as a birthday gift , I’m going to get some things to organize my craft room .I’m so tired of the cluttered, un organized mess and the “ make do” sort of organizing solutions I have now.
I want something that I can move to another house if needed, versatile ( so I can organize a variety of items) . I want my craft room to look like I designed the whole craft room at once , rather than piece and patch, with Hand me downs , and cheap plastic bins and drawer units from Walmart that dont work well for organizing my items and break easily. I so excited! This drawer unit looks like it might work for me.

I love the floral print on your floor runner. I am puzzled why you felt it necessary to anchor the drawer unit to the wall. You're not sailing away on a stormy sea. That stuff won't move around until you want it to, not unless you have poltergeists. I am a firm believer in casters and coasters under furniture so that cleanup, repair, paint, remodel, and move are easier to do. Love the countertop, but I'm doubtful about using drawers that deep in a craft room. I've been using thrift dresser drawers in my basement for tool storage (hammers, screwdrivers, chisels, tape, paintbrushes, etc). The shallow drawers work best for me to keep things sorted, accessible, and visible at a glance. The deeper drawers tended to disaster. That was partly my fault because I filled them. The dressers made of solid wood with tongue and groove construction have held up. The composite particle board units fell apart and need to be replaced.

I been into these dresser for the past 32 months it ghis was my vision. Did you purchase the cabinet separate because I know they do. Because all my option is either the the 12 drawers or the 8 drawers what was your estimated price for the unit you build just idea drawers
