Yeah I would honestly say it stopped being about story with number 2. Since then it's been about that cash cow but that's the way of the world in our current system erm
the yellow banana tick-tacks were fun the first time. but we really didn't need them 6 more times. the worst time was when the tick-tacks tasted like fish (The Lorax)
I feel that Scarlett Overkill was honestly cool when I was younger and the only reason I watched the movie over and over. I think if they brought her back for the inevitable Despicable Me 5 💀it would make sense and would be interesting.
I feel like the first movie was kinda peak(it was my childhood so ofc I have that bias), and everything slowly but surely degraded as the minion side plots started to take over the entire movie 😭
you already know minions is a terrible movie when ME of all people was bored out of my mind watching it first time around (im 14 rn so y'all can work out how old i was when the movie released i dont remember when it did)
I personally never really understood the obscene hatred towards Minions 1 and 2. I mean, what exactly did you expect? Lol, they're Minions movies. Literally no one should be going into these films for the story. They're solely meant to be mindless fun, and as far as mindless fun goes, at least they're creative with the humor and scenarios they put the Minions in. These films at least know what they are and don't try to pretend otherwise, unlike Despicable Me 3 and 4 which try to be something they're not and absolutely fail at it. And unlike the Minions films (which have sparks of creativity here and there in their looniness), Despicable Me 4 is as creatively bankrupt as this franchise gets. That being said though, this was an enjoyable ranking to watch, and I respect your opinions regardless. 👍
My ranking is Despicable me 2 in last. Despite me 3 5th Minions Rise of Gru is 4th Despicable me 4 is 3rd Minions is 2nd and the OG Despicable me is 1st.
You honestly seem like someone really damn fun to drink with. Feels like you'd go on nerdy tangents and I'd love to see drink you do something like this. Drunk movie rankings, with the Brainless Mastermind
You might not see this, but I am begging you to react to the Descendants 4 soundtrack. The songs sound so weird and the plot and writing is a nightmarish fever dream.
I personally hate prequels because they literally tell children evil so cool. Like the only way a prequel to Despicable me could've worked was to show how Gru was mistreated by his mum and then throw the monions in somehow, I don't know. But like... the first prequel was just everything evil and evil is cool and the film closes in the worst "and they found the most evil boss yet" (or sth like that), like wtf is this message? And then they decided they would destroy the original film's message and Gru's arc even more with the 3rd Despicable me. The second prequel was also terrible. Like, I think both prequels should be just deleted or somtheing. Like they make no sense. And the second one makes no progress in Gru's backstory. Like did you forget about it, that he kinda became bad because his mum just couldn't care about him despite himm trying so hard? Like, I remember some friends came up with going to the cinema to see it and when I was watching it I was like "there's no way this is real". Like, nobody was really likeable there. I only liked the main minion tiro in the first prequel, because they did show some empathy and... humanity, I guess. The second sequel just got deeper into making evil seem not only good, but somehow... good now? Like, they don't even feel like a children's movie. Also, I agree the plot is kinda shaky in the films except the first two of them, and we see no much arcs of the characters, not to mention integrity with other films in the franchise, especially the original.
No brain cells left after part 1 and yet still more thought was put into this than most Hollywood productions, especially these films. You go girl/insert appropriate pronouns here! Anyway, I remember seeing a few of these, but yeah, nothing about any of them really stuck with me. The most memorable thing for me was hearing the Despicable Me rap and thinking that'd be good to make a Riddick AMV with. Yep, thought of an entirely different movie franchise when it came to the 1st movie's theme song, and how much better it fit that character. Granted, never listened to the entire song.
I love how they conveniently hid the minions away in a cave for hundreds of years to strategically avoid them getting involved in World War 2.
It feels like as the Despicable Me movies go on they become less and less about a story and more about how many funny gags they can squeeze in
"funny"

The Lorax was a moment in internet history
@@brainless_mastermindI just got flashbacks

Illumination after making these movies:
I’VE BEEN A BAAAD BOY.
Re: Minions 1. They caved (fridged) the minions after Napoleon to avoid the obviously correct timeline where they have a boss during the 1933-45 era.
Ye that's what I heard 😶
1:03 it is annoying but it’s supposed to be. He’s desperately trying to hold onto the past.

Love your videos! You have a unique review style that I find refreshing. Keep up the good work. :)
Aw thank you, you don't know how much that helps right now haha

Someone took me on a date to see Minions Rise of Gru when it came out and the worst part is I think they unironically liked it
@@brainless_mastermindAh yes, the most romantic movie to see: kid gru and his minions

To watch like half of this franchise I had to be on an international flight

Try rating the Shrek and Puss in Boots movies.
Yeah, the franchise really fell off after the second one. (Which is the best.)

Arguing about a plot in a kids movie lol
And complaining about not finding jokes made for kids funny lol
Then old white man is sad lol 😂
