Thank you very much! Embellishing the repeats was common practice in baroque music for the keyboard. Look at Bach’s English suites 2 and 3 as an example, where Bach himself supplies ornamented versions for the Sarabande. Improvisation was an essential part of keyboard playing, and adherence to the text was not as strict as in contemporary performance practice.
@@RafaelSkorka Thanks for your reply. The plethora of pianists who have recorded Bach's French and English suites is overwhelming, and that has overexposed those works. In my view, Handel's keyboard works are on par with Bach's, and to me, his suites are quite profound. We pianists should focus on fostering these pieces.
@@dreamsdreams9493 This suite of Händel is very beautiful, but overall, I don't think Händel's keyboard suites are on the same level as Bach's. I like Keith Jarrett's version a lot, but Rafael Skorka's version seems even more beautiful to me, due to the softer piano touch.
Magnifique ! Les fioritures lors des reprises me semblent inutiles tant cette œuvre est sublime.

A sensitive and intuitive rendering of this piece. Congratulations on your win!

Hello.
Maestro Skorka, I first knew of these wonderful suites by listening to Keith Jarrett's brilliant recording. What do you think of it??
Thank you. Keith Jarrett is a great musician, and he plays this Handel very gracefully and creatively.
