- Dubwerks and I found Herbie, lets dig him out! This Vw Beetle was tucked away in a garage, found sitting for years. There is a lot to move and a tight squeeze to pass by the skid steer. The car also doesn't seem to want to leave, it won't roll.

You found Herbie !!! Nice
😁
Dubwerks and Jason collabs are working really well ❤ 🇬🇧
we thank you , more soon
I remember as a child when Herbie Rides Again came out in 74, the car was touring and it was driven up the steps of our cinema to the flat area in front of the cinema. As a child of six at the time, it was amazing to see the film and then see the actual car.
The Herbie racing Volkswagens were some of the coolest VW builds ever in my opinion
Jason, another great rescue. That has to be one of the least rusted VW's you found lately. I love your energy and VW passion which makes your channel great!
Thank you , very appreciated Warbird
Great find!! Fun little car. That place is a pack rat mess. Looks like an alcoholics contractors home. I can speak from experience on that topic. Sober 32 years now.
Herbie race car #53. Glad you found it. Been stored in that garage sitting for years. Try to put maybe a hybrid or electric engine & bring him back to the big screen can’t wait to see what the future holds for this little car brings back so many memories
Send Mustie over there. Skid steer, 2 snow blowers, dirt bike. Lots of material for him!
i'm trying to land him something....he isn't getting the RM :).
Great Find !! Herbie can't wait to see you cruising down the street !
😊😊😊
thank you, 👍
WOW!
Seeing 53 brought back many childhood memories!
Here's a quote from the movie: "I may be kidding myself, but I think I can make something out of that sad little bucket of bolts." And a tagline: "Herbie Will Honk His Way Into Your Heart." ❤
GO HERBIE!!!
Need to introduce this Herbie to another Herbie, the one from Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer ... "Herbie doesn't like to make toys"... Then Herbie 53 won't have horsepower, he will have reindeer power ...
That was Hermie not Herbie
I stand corrected, it was Hermey the elf ... @@rosemarymagrino772
OMG !!! Score !!!! 🤙😎👍
Thank you
Herbie rides again, what a great title for a movie ! 😂
yes!
I remember crying when Herbie tried to throw himself off the bridge!
Great to see this rescue 👍☺
You should do a video of DUB works saying “ i’m impressed, you know what your talking about”. Hey says that a lot. Great video!
Great find! I’d fix that shifter, throw the fender and bumper on and DRIVE IT! ❤😎
Like Out of a Episode of " This Old Bug!"! "Wad do You Think Norm!"?!!!; )
Awesome this is a quick patina refresh
Welcome to the Herbie family!
Thank you, I might have to add 63 turn signals
@@5150mxVW what’s the best way to contact you outside of RUclips?

bumber was trying to smile
Herbie says “noooooo, don’t take me!” Just reassure him that he’ll get great care and he will cooperate!
BEEOOOPPPbeeeOOP!
Thanks Straight Ahead ✌😎
That’s a lot of ladders 😳 Then a Herbie appears!! Late 64, yeah she got bumped.
Dang that was a tight squeeze!!
No winch battery 🤦🏼♂️
Show the wash!!!!!!!
come get one of these nuggets !
@@5150mxVW Oh trust me I wished I could!!
All things considered it is in great shape. Dub works is such a goober.
Few mustie1 video's worth, laying around that place😂😂😂 Great save thou Jason, Really like the way that 64 looks
yes! most of the things he wants were not for sale, i'm trying though :)....thank you, i dig it too
Its so period correct They always have a poop filled nest - Living the dream mate. Third keeper in a row😂😂😂
Herbie lives again. Good work guys
we thank you
That car has the perfect look! The patina is awesome! I wouldn’t change anything cosmetically. I love it!
I agree , I couldn’t stop just staring at it when we got it outside .
Afternoon guys
As Buddy Hackett said “but Herbie doesn’t fit!” That’s a tighter fit than the elevator shaft in the old mine before going down Big Bear in San Bernardino Mountains from “The Love Bug.”😮
:)))
OMG, my childhood dream car. Awesome find!!
thank you !
Herbie is perfect like he is. As if he just drove off the movie set after a race.
I agree
I used to see the multiple cut up Herbies in the back lot of Disney in Burbank in the 80s.
Mustie1 must be drooling about that bobcat. Nice little save on the beetle
yes he inquired about the skid steer haha... thank you
So what happened did Alonzo Hawk buy the house and toss the old lady out? lol poor Herbie, but I'm sure he'll ride again with your help!
As my step-father loved to say in his 87 F-150 making questionable driving maneuvers: "Think thin!"😂
HAHA !
Good to see a Jim Douglas special rescued
Everybody loves Herbie!
👍
Great Rescue! Looking forward to see it ride again! 👍😎
thank you 53', me too
@@5150mxVW just curious you are gonna keep it or make it look better ? I loved the herbie since a kid, i do hope since i just stumbled on your channel it is gonna be protected unlike what happened to it? That is the key right? Movie people never appreciate nothing same goes for the Rudolph dolls alll melted and that only few made it didnt care about them. Just didnt know if u mean your gonna revive it at your place or its in safe protection or so? Just curious.
You gotta keep the hood decals as they are. Looks so cool.
👍
That transmission is locked between gears. Open the side oil fill plug, and get a bore scope to peer inside. You will find a gear set jammed between each other. Examine it carefully and see which one slides, and where it needs to go.
Get a long screwdriver up there, on the gear, not on the bronze sync….on the gear, and give it a nudge. Use the fill hole as a fulcrum, put a piece of hose on your skubadiver (kids!)..to keep it from making the threads. See if it doesn’t slip back into place.
Then refill the box, with GL4…..yes…not 5…..four. You have to buy it online. “Bubba” will tell you 5 is the same, but it is not. Hence the 4…..instead of 5….dig?
Probably you can nudge that gear back into place.
And probably it’s what took it out of service to begin with.
Been there, done that with 2 gears at once. Sometimes the fork is broken, but usually not. Prying through the fill hole is the cat's ass. BTW, that GL-4 can be had on Amazon in a gallon jug. (most parts stores DON'T have it) The GL-5 doesn't play well with bronze / brass bushings and syncros.
Love herbie!!!
Watching that car come through the tight gap it was just like going back all those years to Herbie !!!! What a great car, My first beetle was a 63 bought from the local scrap yard for £75 it ran for years
Nice :)))
Bet When Dubwerks see's your number come up in his phone, he thinks, Oh God what did he buy now !
And when I see his number pop up it’s “ oh geez where did he break down or what’s he need trailered “ haha
@@5150mxVW or pushed 😅
All you need now would be Mustie in the mix!😅
@@johnmayer158 he might swing down this week :))
Cars 3 pandemic 🧫🦠🧫🧪
this is like a childhood dream of mine
Isn’t he a little cutie! I’m not a Herbie fan either Jason, just a VW fan. Some day, some day I’ll have another one.🤞🏼
you better have another one ! I even gave you plenty of Robbie in this one , you are welcome haha :)
We've had a few Beetles in our family and I wish we could have hung on to them. I enjoy your VW recues and look forward to each adventure! Thank you.
good times ! thank you , many more soon
Awesome find, I love that you have to dig it out like treasure
Hi Glenn, thank you, hope all is well down in toasty F L A
Another great team up
it's really straight! Congratulations and another great find!
We thank you
Thats a great rescue. Great car herbie lovely
thank you JcF
Holy cow!!!! Thats amazing....hard to believe thats how Herbie was living....omg...I would've probably kept him in my living room! That's amazing!!! What a find...so wonderful! Great video.
Try it with the clutch pedal pressed to the floor
Please tell me you got that RM sitting right in front of you. Those bikes are legend!
Ik it’s technically the “worst” but I grew up on Herbie Fully Loaded. So it warms my heart to see Herbie again after all these years.
Great Rescue 🛟 of the Poor Volkswagen Car, Herbie must be save!
👍 thank you
Unbelievable. You didn't get the RM Jason, that's called a fail. In all seriousness I don't know how you find them but glad you do.
hi Dale, not sure he was ready to let that one go , i did ask
9:30 Did you dub out Dubwerks? That was expert, precision pushing! That's what we expect from experienced car movers! I move smaller rolling (or sliding) stock with my flat bed that has steep auto style ramps, so I made a 3/4 inch plywood ramp that just lays on the trailer ramps. I hook it to the trailer frame so it doesn't slide off when the load slides up onto the trailer. The flat piece of plywood is easy to transport, either on edge or flat on the deck. Thanks for this episode of the hopefully continuing saga of Jay and Dub Do Dirty Work! That title may not pass RUclips censors, though.
Herbi kick ass! I thought you said they were going to be back to normal, if you meant hard, yeppers!😝I am old enough to have gone to the theater and watched it when I was a kid!
yes! I have a couple outdoor / trees growing in the cars rescues coming ....
@@5150mxVW 😆
IM not a Herbie guy either......But any vw is worth saving.
“sounds good to me “ LOL
That's too cool. I know of 31 cars including a samba bus just rotting away
Looks like old Herbie is going to have yet another new life.😊❤
My Grandpa's old garage was a bit like that. Unfortunately there were no Herbies hiding in it, just woodworking tools. I did get his ancient bench vise though, and use it all the time for my VW projects. You need to get Herbie up and running again!
Whoa that's a tight fit!!
hey J, sure was
I have been too hard on Dub. He's young. Pretty awesome tho. He's pretty knowledgeable. Keep your mind open. You will learn more. The old Volkswagens tell a story..😁
kool rescue
hi Drew, we thank you
Man, I like the sweaty patina on
that one. What a cool driver.
thank you, me too :))
Awesome great rescue!!!
we thank you 77'
nice job.
we thank you Jim
Great video guys
we thank you MR M
Herbie will ride again! Well at some point soon anyway. Great car Jason a first wash and it will be fine. Yes some issues but not much rust which is a real bonus. Thanks to Robbie for the help getting that through such a tight gap, well done to both of you for then getting it on the trailer. Nice find Jason. 👍👍
You should have gotten some friends and used that aluminum scaffolding like bamboo poles and put them under the car and pick it up and walk it out like they did to Herbie in The Love Bug!!!
what a cool idea ! that would of been awesome
Very cool car!
Thank you !
i love to see how these icons come together.... jason and herbie😁😉😊
as always loving the content keep up the good work....
greetsz from holland....max😁😉
No mention of that sweet old RM sitting there?! 😃 You and dubwerks work well together.
👍👌👏 Aaaaand another episode of the "2 man team VW rescue"! 2) Sir(s), I guess you urgently need a really big barn with a second, easy to access, floor. 😁 ;-)
Thanks a lot for making explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards luck and health in particular. To both of you of course.
Great find. I would have put up with those trailer ramps about one time, then they'd be gone. Change those out and your rescue adventures would be a lot easier :)
yeah, they make things harder when the drums are stuck...or the tranny is broken :)
this one looks like the "FULLY LOADED" Herbie, only because of the wobbly tires in the back, one of the trick cars probably. just subbed so i can keep an eye on this rebuild, big Herbie fan right here, good find.
awesome save jason the car looks amazing
thank you 34', i dig it
Absolutely LOVE your channel! No BS...rare on YT!
thank you Richard, very appreciated !
Wouldn't be 5150 without a battery..😮😮😮😮...DoooooooooooD 😅😮

Hi Jason I am vw beetle fan from Ethiopia,i really appreciate your rescues and cleaning videos but Can you add videos of complete restorations of the cars you had rescued previously pls if you don't mind & make sure to post full restoration video on this Herbie I want to see it step by step pleaseI loved this kind of videos really enjoyable😊😊👍
Are there a lot of beetles in Ethiopia?
Not a Herbie guy at all but this car could make me come around… Ratted out with a big motor! Great score!
@@DarkElfDiva yeah 60 years still in use we have a fan group called Derom Zendrom (means Past&Present) established in 2019 to show our nostalgic memories that we have our these cars since they are called The People's Car😁
@@DarkElfDiva They have done their first car show back in 2019 in Addis Ababa & they estimated about 250+Volkswagens who attended the show if you didn't believed meyou can google it if you want to see 😊

Great rescue! I'm jealous, my wife would kill me if i tried to bring that many cars home.
thank you, yes someone stopped by my house and met Jen..." you are still married ?!? he says lol
I know of one up here in mustie1 country sitting outside
It be NICE & even GREAT!!! to see this iconic car cleaned , restored & drivable & legal for on & off ( race track) & road use. Let's see that in the near future. With that regular & tipical VW beatle sound we all reconise aswell.
Another gem ! Great job , lots of fun there ! Gonna be some great videos coming soon I hope.
thank you Warren, more soon
Hey Jay and Dub. Love the 64. My first car was a 64 I bought in 76. I paid $400 for it and it ran! I had to replace the heads on it but that wasn’t really a big deal. It ran good until I sold it and bought a 67 Chevelle Ss. Big difference in horsepower huh. Thanks much for the bug video.
Jason you & Robbie/dubwerks moving the "ladders of success" without getting "rung" out on the steps, led to a successful extraction of Herbie clone 1964 Beetle ... She lives & is "seeing the light of day" once more ... She's a pusher, now to see if she's a runner ... A great Beetle for Josh to learn to drive stick shift with ... Paint it blue & Jen will be happier with this acquisition, but Herbie should stay in his current format & be put back on the road as a daily driver ... Great find ! Prost - Slainte' - Cheers !
not a pusher yet, tranny is locked up ....well shall see :), thank you 701
I don’t know how you find these forgotten gems?? But, thank you and Dubs for saving a piece of another piece of automotive history!!! My first car was a ‘73 Beetle.
thank you for checking it out .... nice 1st car :)
ive after a herbie atm, glad to see one saved!
Nice car Jason. Lots of work to get it in this freakin' heat.--Barefoot
Barefoot! thank you, hope all is well .
That’s cool a peace of movie history 👍
The guy that sold it to you probably was kinda hoping you were gonna organize _all_ the items in the drive and do a little touch up painting on the garage. How disappointing 😆🤣😂
Hey y'all thank you for the great video I enjoyed it and I told her be through the phone that's the world is not like it used to be it's got an evil so that's why he didn't want to come out he got scared but I also told him that you guys are going to take care of him so it's going to be okay that's why he came out a little bit easier
Now you need to find a Thorndyke Special (Apollo GT) to go with it! Good luck, they only made about forty of them. Call Jay Leno, he has one. They had a yellow one in the movie. They had aluminum Buick V8's, 215 ci I think. "The American Ferrari"
You guys never cease to amaze! What a cool little car you found. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for this lil’ Herbie car. Thanks so much J and Dubwerks you guys are great!
We thank you Glen
I can't believe an old dirt biker like you didnt even mention the vintage motorcycle sitting next to Herbie, was it a Yamaha or Suzuki.
How do you find all these abandoned cars?
It always shocks me how people let their property and homes turn into dumps like that place. Nice score for you! Cant wait to see what you do with it. 👍
Looks like an early '80s Suzuki RM. I don't see radiators, so probably an air-cooled big bore bike perhaps an RM 465? Could have missed the radiators though, in that case perhaps an RM 125 or RM 250.
That was one of the best Mx bikes of all time, ( early Full Floater ) Suzuki RM125...might of been an 81 , 1st year of the mono shock Full Floater rear suspension .
one big radiator in the front , 1981 RM125x.....i think , i didn't really check it out ...i was in rescue mode
@5150mxVW you didn't go back and by that cool ass bike?
I had an early 1980’s Suzuki RM 125. Full Floater suspension, it did have a radiator though, could’ve been a 1982.
Another great find! Your videos never disappoint Jason! I look forward to every find! It's nice to see more paint than rust this time!
It looked like you lucked out with that bobcat being where it was, cool car, congrats!
thank you JP, i was glad i didn't have to remove that front fender....plan C was to try and pull the bucket on skid steer with the truck to swing the back end of the skid steer an inch or two...
Great rescue great video, nice looking old vw, any chance you went back and rescued that sweet old RM
thank you , i did ask about the ole Full Floater RM125...he wasn't ready to let it go
This is such a great find I love it 👍👍. Keep up the good work
than you 720
