“This was born from a realization that most of the world’s wars to that point had been, in part, in most part, created from religious differences. “Cathedral” is about a real experience of me being on LSD and going to Stonehenge, lying in the middle of Stonehenge. Trying to figure out what was happening with my life, going to Winchester Cathedral, opening the door, feeling this strange presence at my feet, looking down at my legs which are now wavering, and seeing that I was standing on the grave of somebody who had died on my birthday.”

Is David singing, or is it Graham, it sounds different. I understand that's not the the point of your comment. Just curious, just a question.

I saw CSN in the 90's , I was part of the local stagehands then . This was the encore song and when it was time to sing it stained glass windows were projected on the backdrop with the sun streaming thru . It was like a life altering experience. Their harmonies were so perfect I was tearing up and getting chills at the same time . Beautiful !

Must be so cool to be a car ride away from Stonehenge... ❤️
The first time I heard this, I had to turn it off. Don't know why. Took a few years before I could listen to it. It's the words about standing on a grave of someone who died hundreds of years ago, whose birthday was the same as yours. Just something creepy about that. There are cords that draw us all together, in spite of fears and years and animosities. Thanks for posting this. Beautiful graphic too.
Graham : )
Very nice..this song is very similar to the ‘inspector mills’ of America =CSN similar in style
1977(released year)
Six o' clock
In the morning I feel pretty good
So I dropped into the luxury of the Lords
Fighting dragons and crossing swords
With the people against the hordes who came to conquer
Seven o'clock
In the morning here it comes I taste the warning
And I'm so amazed I'm here today
Seeing things so clear this way
In the car and on my way to Stonehenge
[Instrumental (Piano)]
I'm flying in Winchester cathedral
Sunlight pouring through the break of day
Stumbled through the door and into the chamber
There's a lady setting flowers on a table covered lace
And a cleaner in the distance finds a cobweb on a face
And a feeling deep inside of me
Tells me this can't be the place
I'm flying in Winchester cathedral
All religion has to have its day
Expressions on the face of the Savior
Made me say
I can't stay
Open up the gates of the church and let me out of here
Too many people have lied in the name of Christ
For anyone to heed the call
So many people have died in the name of Christ
That I can't believe it all
Now I'm standing on the grave of a soldier that died in 1799
And the day he died it was a birthday
And I noticed it was mine
And my head didn't know just who I was
And I went spinning back in time
And I am high upon the altar
High upon the altar, high
[Instrumental (Strings)]
I'm flying in Winchester cathedral
It's hard enough to drink the wine
The air inside just hangs in delusion
But given time
I'll be fine
Open up the gates of the church and let me out of here
Too many people have lied in the name of Christ
For anyone to heed the call
Too many people have died in the name of Christ
That I can't believe it all
And now I'm standing on the grave of a soldier that died in 1799
And the day he died it was a birthday
And I noticed it was mine
And my head didn't know just who I was
And I went spinning back in time
And I am high upon the altar
High upon the altar, high
"Groundhog Day"

That's the reality happen inside thechurch
There iscso much truth in this song 🎵. To many people have lied in the name of christ to believe at all. Christianity is responsible for millions of murders. Peace and ❤️ love.8888. For the truely inlightened

its strange how experiences with lsd has had an effect on the lives of some people. I was chased by trees till I had no place to run to. I realized I was being shown the anger trees had against humanity. It showed me that every living thing has a soul. We are all linked in this simple way. At what point in the development of humanity does the soul develop in humanity. It was there from the time when the creator created the simplest DNA. The immediate purpose? Produce oxygen.
DEJA VU TYPE EVENT
One of my favorite songs.
The Best!!!
Jealous guys
Anyone believe in Christ?
How sad! A Slur on the Church 😬Lord have mercy on his soul 😭 I pray he didn’t go to hell for this blasphemous song
Lol. Religious sheeple
More than likely, he went to the bank. Dig it.
The Church???
Don't get me started on that topic.
How sad that you can't see the truth in the lyrics of this song. I sincerely doubt the Lord looks down upon anyone who questions organized religion.
This is still a disgusting song and I can’t believe people call this blasphemy good 😭
This song tells the truth!!
U need to explore why this song was written before u judge
After centuries of hypocrisy you have the audacity to question the motivation of the Church.
Una gran joya de CSN
Beautiful song
I love very much this song feels me so heartly
