  • @ElysiumCity

The Mississippi River is for sure the mightiest. I live near both the Missouri and the Mississippi hear in the St. Louis area. I've got spots on both that I have been told to fish for some monsters, but I need the time to get out and do it. And also probably some heavier gear.

I loved to fish the Omaha - Council Bluffs Mighty Mo river crossings! I caught both of my PB flathead & blue kitty's under/near the 480... That was back in the late 1970's (I'm in my 60's now - why do I watch you of all the myriad of fishing channels?) when I was stationed at "Awful Offutt", but if one explored using "paper" maps (remember those?) one could find many stash-hole creaky creeks emptying into the Mo!! Sht those Drum are in that river a helluva lot bigger than that bud, I guarantee it, hell if their in the Ohio River 35-40 lbs ( each) then their in the mighty Mo that big, if you don’t believe me then get you some “Live” crawdads to use for bait, use about a 3/0 or 4/0 hook ( you’re preference) and hook the crawdad in the tail , straight through one time about middle ways up the tail, then however much lead to hold you and the craw, but cast out as far as you can, you’re aiming for the middle of the river, and just sit back and wait! Oh and a word of warning, I wouldn’t walk off and leave your pole unattended! Just a tip and piece of advice bud! Tight lines!
