This is Altair's more 'athentic' voice. He was supposed to have a Syrian accent in the first game, but they thought the VO's normal voice sounded more intimidating. Desmond also references his lack of accent and they chalk it up to the Animus translation.

  • @the98themperoroftheholybri33
    @the98themperoroftheholybri33 Год назад +36

To explain the voice change, the Animus in the first assassin's creed had Desmond's voice because it was built by the modern Templars which didn't care about immersion they only cared about the location of the apple of eden, Altair is from the middle East afterall, I doubt he'd sound American.

I think main reason why they switched to Ezio was beause Altairs story is done at this point. He went from arrogant killer to humble pursuer of knowledge with mindset that I would describe with quote from Socrates: "I know that I know nothing." Also, they wanted to explore new time period. I have never played Bloodlines, so this new to me too. I knew about Maria, but I thought her transition from spared templar to love interest was abrupt. Now when I have seen this it makes much more sense. Looking forward to your AC2 playthrough

One of the reasons ezio is more popular is the fact that he got a whole trilogy (and a Nintendo DS game), and two short animated films that allowed him to be fleshed out, explore aspects of his character arc something no other protagonist really got. It's one of the few criticisms of the series I have. Ubisoft is so excited to show us different stories and time periods, that we never get as much time to bond with the protagonists as we did with ezio.

    • @laddanerskit3199

100%, the franchise should have started with an Altair trilogy. Instead we got phones games and comic books so we need to go out of our way to get more Altair.

Hello Meg and welcome back to AC. Back then, Bloodlines was really something special on the PSP, not because of the graphics, of course, but because of the Story, because you learned how the only true assassin Altair continued. It wasn't that great to play on the PSP of course because since the PSP has a few fewer Buttons the controls have been completely changed which was a bit annoying at times and the eagle eye has even been taken out. Well, but in the End I'm glad that you watched the cutscenes and saw the story of Altair and Maria and how it went on with them. Now I'm looking forward to the next AC adventure with you and I'm curious how you like it.
Until then I wish you a nice Tuesday, have fun and lovely Greetings to you and your two little Cuties
Of course I don't want to give anything away, but I can tell you that it wasn't the last time you saw Altair and Maria, but everything else will come with Time. And yes, you're absolutely right. Altair would have deserved more (from my point of view) if there had been more Games with him.

Hi, Meg! I have to say, if you love the games you'd also love the books by Oliver Bowden that recount areas of the games. Secret Crusade expand upon Altair's life, and Forsaken is perfect to add to Assassin's Creed III when you get there. Oliver Bowden is great at writing and making history come alive on the page, and he writes the characters so well. Some of the later books really do expand upon the game content rather than simply recount it and offer a far fuller story. Bowden not only adds in pieces about Altair's childhood in Secret Crusade, but also recounts and fleshes out Assassin's Creed I, Bloodlines, and later years of Altair's life. It comes fourth in the book series after Revelations, but the first three are also 100% worth the read. It's a great book series and I think you'd like it as it provides greater nuance to the characters you so enjoy playing in this game series. I'm happy to see you've started Brotherhood, and can't wait for you to get to Revelations!!!

34:00, well in the 11th century women weren’t really involved in paid important jobs so for Altair to see Robert De Sable was not the there when he attempted to assassinate and see instead a woman. Hello Meg. I really hope you see this, cause I want to tell you about some side quests you should do in Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood to have the best experience possible.
First, in AC2, there will be Assassin's tombs, you'll need to do only 1 in order to finish the game, the other 5 are not required, however, I recomend you doing them before the final mission of the game, so you get something that ties in better visually with the next game. It's not story related, but it will tie in visually.
Second, are the glyphs, for both AC2 and Brotherhood. You'll only need to do 1 in AC2, the rest is opitional, but I higly sujest that you do them before going to the next game, for both AC2 and AC Brotherhood. They're quite hard to do by yourself, cause they don't appear on the map and have very hard puzzles, but there are guides on the internet that make them pretty easy, and they expand a lot on the Assassin's Creed lore, and will also give you knowledge that will make something that will happen in one of the games feel even better; remember, these glyphs are both in AC2 and AC Brotherhood, each game having different stuff to learn when doing these. Please, If you read this, try to remember these and do these side missions, I promisse they'll be worth it

The worst part of my day was accidentally clicking dislike. I love how you're committed to the story of AC and throwing yourself in there. Can't wait for the rest of the series, AC II and Brotherhood are my favorites!
Edit: if you like reading, the whole story, including Bloodlines, is very well written in book form and well worth the read imho!

If you are going to play The Ezio Collection, it has lineage in it. But if you're going to play the Ezio games separately then watch lineage first.

They did actually change altair's voice actor. He did altair's voice in bloodlines and in a later game.
Also fun fact: assassin's creed was originally going to be a ps2 game, and the location of this game(cyprus) was going to be in there. So you can see this game as sort of an alternate universe where ac1 came out on the ps2.

As someone else said Altaïr has a different VA in every game he's in, but the AC1 actor did audition and get the role with an Arabic accent. When it came time to record the actual game, they told him to use an American Accent. I heard that the reason for this was that Ubi was afraid of releasing a game with an Arabic protagonist who kills people for a living only a few years after the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks. I dont know how true that is though.
