I actually believe that the real main reason why the track has become the franchises main theme is really because of its' meaning. You may noticed one major pattern with each and every AC protagonist, which is that none of them really wanted the path they were given, but it's because of the despair and betrayal they feel, as well as their sense of obligation that lead them to go on the crusade they're on in the games, which is what the song symbolizes.
I really appreciate Meg's honest emotions and empathy for the characters she's playing as. Makes her one of the best people to watch play these emotional games. Can't wait to watch the rest of this journey,
@@DannyBBlitzMassacreGaming we can all agree on one thing though.......anything past black flag is the series going downhill. (maybe not rogue, untiy, and syndicate idk but DEFINITELY past those)
That song you heard is the legendary "Ezio's Family" theme from Jesper Kyd. It's used in many Assassin's Creed games in one way or another, often in very thematic variations. I actually have the original first page of the partition (sheet music) used to record Ezio's Family, signed by Jesper Kyd himself.
The Ezio Collection is easily my favorite games of all time. From the story to the music. For me, this is the gold standard of Assassin's Creed games. I still play through them from time to time. It's cool watching someone experience these games for the first time. I just subscribed. Keep up it up! ✌️
correcting a misunderstanding: lucy isn't missing a finger, she just folded her ring finger because that's the one assassins would ceremoniously cut off so that it works with the way the hidden blade was designed. You can see in AC1 that Altair is missing a ring finger on his left hand.
The song that was playing during the intro card was ezios family. Its such a iconic staple of the ac franchise that they started basically using versions of it as the “theme of assassins creed” in a sense.
This game is so amazing and Ezio is so great. Btw I love that you love the Ezio Family Theme (played when the AC 2 title came up). It became the staple for the series after this game
This may seem silly but 9 year old me was super freaked out by the box art of AC2 as I thought the guards looked like Demons so I never picked up the game until like a few weeks later when I decided to play it and just adored it. I still prefer aspect of AC1 but AC2 greatly improved the character models and aspects of the combat while Brotherhood greatly improved every aspect of AC2 and still remains my favourite. Remember going to my friends house in 2010 and being so jealous that he got Brotherhood early just good times. over a decade ago now which makes me feel old lol That little intro recap is pretty much why some people say you can skip AC1 and be fine going into AC2 which I do understand the game kind of goes over the events of the first game and then jumps into a whole new storyline and character. But I do kind of recommend people to at least try the first game as it's fun to get a first hand feel of everything and then go into the 2nd to see all the improvements. Also funny enough but AC1 is strangely a much better looking game than AC2 besides the character models. But the lighting and overall textures of the world just seem to be better in AC1.
I adore the music in this game, rooftops of Venice (the music during the race) and Ezio’s family (the other song) are fantastic. Ezio’s family was so good it basically became the default AC theme.
So excited to see you start this game! It's one of my favorites and it's tied to so many fond memories of playing through these stories with college friends. Ok so to clear this up right away: Desmond and Subject 16 are both related to Ezio,, making them distant relatives. Desmond is related to Ezio through his father and Altair through his mother, Ezio isn't a descendant of Altair.

I dunno what’s triggering more memories at the moment - the music, the story or my early struggles with learning controls as well. Here’s the good news - all AC games from here on in will build from the baseline established here, it’s just re-learning as you go. It is a real life version of the Animus, it becomes muscle memory after a few hours. Or games. I do hope any mechanical based issues are resolved before too long. Oh hell yeah I'm so here for you to start this one. This was actually my first Assassin's Creed game around the time when I got a PS3 but I never really finished this game either. So I'm so excited for you to play this one Meg and see not only see some of the stuff I completed and things I missed! Also you get to meet and know about the iconic Ezio Auditore
I didn't watch the video yet, so idk if you already saw what I'm going to talk about, I'm doing this to maybe have more chance of you seeing this. Hello Meg. I really hope you see this, cause I want to tell you about some side quests you should do in Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood to have the best experience possible. First, in AC2, there will be Assassin's tombs, you'll need to do only 1 in order to finish the game, the other 5 are not required, however, I recomend you doing them before the final mission of the game, so you get something that ties in better visually with the next game. You'll only need to do 1 in AC2, the rest is opitional, but I higly sujest that you do them before going to the next game, for both AC2 and AC Brotherhood. They're quite hard to do by yourself, cause they don't appear on the map and have very hard puzzles, but there are guides on the internet that make them pretty easy, and they expand a lot on the Assassin's Creed lore, and will also give you knowledge that will make something that will happen in one of the games feel even better; remember, these glyphs are both in AC2 and AC Brotherhood, each game having different stuff to learn when doing these. Please, If you read this, try to remember these and do these side missions, I promisse they'll be worth it
It's here... IT'S HERE!!! YES!! This is going to be so fun! Great video once again. I'd suggest playing a little further before Lineage, but honestly it doesn't spoil a whole lot. Besides, if I recall correctly it was published before the release of AC2 or atleast it came with the special edition of AC2.
32:40 that line is iconic and that music too, it's called 'ezio's family' theme it varies from game to game even the modern games use it even though Ezio has nothing to do with it but it's Ubisofts music I guess.
Wow this was so nostalgic and amazing to watch meg! When it revealed "Assassins Creed 2" logo, when they were on the roof with the Music. That was the birth of the Assassins Creed theme song. Its called Ezio Family. However it becomes the theme for the entire AC franchise. Remember it. You'll hear it again 😁
If you hold "high profile" while you're climbing, Ezio will climb faster than Altair and the name of THE song is "Ezio's Family" by Jesper Kyd, I think it is the most iconic track of the whole series
When you're running, especially away from guards, it's so much more useful to be able to sprint than swivel camera, so try to keep your thumb on X, not on the right stick. Generally when you're running, the camera will auto adjust, but sprinting is faster than guards and it allows you to be able to free climb with much more ease. This is my favorite AC game and it's so nice to see someone else enjoy it as well; your play through of the first and this one so far has been very entertaining!
Yes! This is the first game I ever 100 percented. This and "Black Flag are my favorite Assassin's Creed games. They're also some of my favorite games. This is super nostalgic for me. I will be watching this entire playthrough with you "MegMage my friend ⚔️🙌
Seeing as you're playing the PC version, which I just finished playing last week, you should know that the 2 DLCs have been patched into the base game before Ubisoft shut down the AC2 servers last year. The bad news is you won't be able to access the other content included in the Deluxe version nor the free Uplay rewards, one of which provides some nice background history. If you really want to experience what is missing there are guides to modify the main save file to unlock access. Or download an old save file that unlocked all the extra content. The other option is to buy the Ezio Collection for PS4/Xbox/Switch which has all the DLCs and bonus content included for all three games. Plus there's two short movies included, Lineage and Embers.
@@laddanerskit3199 That was the free Uplay reward you can't get anymore. Another was a weapon upgrade, cosmetic outfit, desktop wallpaper, and PS3/XBox theme. Then there's the extra content you get if you own the PS3 copy of AC2 and connect it with Bloodlines. The rest are from the Deluxe edition (another cosmetic and 3 additional areas).
@@MS85Hart meh then the hassle of messing with the files probably not worth it, seen that some solutions are downloading something from peoples google drives, wouldn't trust that for a second. Especially considering you can just youtube the family crypt.
Super excited about this playthrough, hope you'll find ACII fun! It's definitely the most aged game in Ezio's trilogy, but it has my favorite story out of them and playing through, years after my first time, brought me a lot of fun, not even necessarily connected to nostalgia (though a bit too, let's be honest lmao) Also, replaying it having learnt Italian in the last 13 years, some accents and grammatical errors in Italian crack me up 😅 still love Roger Craig Smith as Ezio, lots (wait, he also plays Batman in Arkham Origins... damn, what else do these games share lmfao) (dunno if you want or need any info about additional content, but most side activites are better skipped, with one big exception... though I think you'll realize it easily ) Divertiti!
Really looking forward to your next journey :) its so great that you pay so much attention to the story and absorb so many details. You understood so much more of the AC 1 story and lore than I did on my first playthrough, it is really impressivehaha. There is one pretty annoying bug in one of the first sequences of this game, that I encountered myself and noticed in other playthroughs, so I just want to give the hint: When you are inside a memory, you always have some kind of marker on the minimap where to go. If it is missing and there is no hint where to go, you might have to restart the memory or even the game and the marker on the map should appear. Looking forward to the next episode, have fun :)
Alright, I'll try again. Meg, your 4 face buttons should be mapped to reflect "legs, hands and head". So, on a Playstation controller, X is legs, Square is left hand, Circle is right hand, and Triangle is head. This what AC1 referred to as the "puppeteering concept". It works the same here.
This game (and Black Ops 1) are essential to a specific year in my life. When I really started gaming. When I was still pure I guess, but started waking up to history and politics and realizing I was a real person
Just a little info, whenever you let go from ledges be sure you press the grab button again to catch yourself from falling higher places. So that way you won't lose health when you land on the ground.
🎶 Ezio's Family 🎶 Originally only the theme of Ezio's story arch but became so incredibly iconic that it is now the theme of Assassin's Creed as a whole.
Meg is spoiling us AC fans! So, glad you started AC2 pretty much immediately! You may have realized it already but Ezio's name is Ezio Auditore, "da Firenze" meaning "of Firenze" (or Florence) There's lot to like and some things to dislike about the Ezio trilogy, but it is definitely some of Ubisoft's best work, even though there's lots to like/love in later games too. Hopefully Ubi's decision to go back to the game design roots pays off in AC:Mirage. You'll love to know that there's actually a book, Assassin's Creed: Renaissance, a full novelization of game events, that goes into detail (characters, motivations, certain events etc) for all the historic stuff (The Modern day plot line and Assassins aren't mentioned). It has some stuff that's brought up in the sequel, and some stuff that is slightly different from the game. It is a good read, though if you don't pace yourself while playing and reading simultaneously, you'll spoil yourself by reading further than you've progressed in the game itself. Just mentioning this in case, you wanted to read some other book as The Witcher (book) series were finished. Hopefully, this doesn't come across like a reaction/review request. If you were wondering, there's one for AC1 too (with Altair as main character), though you'll be spoiled of some major Revelations if you read that.
The database entries written by Shaun are similar to the ones in Batman. Some are fully narrarated like certain letters, some are complete narrated presentations given by Shaun. I advise giving them a look, particularly the ones you get about bad guys.
Omg!! FIRSTT! I ALREADY WAIT FOR IT THE WHOLE TIME THANK YOU for playing it Meg!! This Ezio Trilogy is the best AC for me, I love Altaïr, but Ezio Character is so different. I really hope you enjoy playing it!
This game is the game that at an age of 10 years old got me hooked not only on the franchise but learning more about history. I remember always guessing what the next time period was gonna be and try to write the story myself for fun. This will forever hold a special place in my heart as my first AC game. I love it
As an og AC fan I really appreciate that you play the saga from scratch, I know that it could be intimidating for a new fan considering how many games it includes and how time consuming it could be, most new fans just play the last 3 games and then maybe retrieve an old one out of curiosity, on one side I don't blame them, but playing all games (in release order) is the only way to get the lore.
people tend to have hundreds of thousands of ancestors (if not much much more), not just one or two. but its cute seeing your amazement at him having more than one lol
So Subject 16 and Desmond are distant relatives, they are both descended from Ezio, evidence being that Lucy searched for relevant memory data between the both of them and Ezio was the result. However, Altair and Ezio are not related at all. Altair will be referenced heavily in AC2 and Revelations. Don't remember where it's stated, I think it was only ever confirmed in an interview with Ubisoft but Altair is Desmond's ancestor from his dad's side of the family and Ezio is an ancestor from his mom's side of the family. The name of the song that played during the title sequence is called "Ezio's Family".
32:15 The funny thing is, you don't actually have to race Federico the way he runs in the race. I literally always just directly climb up the side of the church and then bam, I'm up ahead and able to win. XD
Meg. Lineage is meant to be seen "BEFORE" the game. Some details of early game (documents, letters, ...) reference events that are depicted in Lineage.
This amongst other things is why it absolutely should be watched before starting the game. Really don't understand the people who told her to watch it after, it's useless after. With Lineage you are talking about caring about the characters vs seeing extremely minor spoilers that become completely irrelevant almost immediately. Caring about the characters as soon as possible is far more valuable for a newcomer. It was also literally made to be watched before playing the game.
The song that played is called “Ezio’s Family” and it was so good that it effectively became the theme of the series going forward

bruh moment
Little of column a and column b. Modern and Animus memories are so excellent for the entire Ezio trilogy.
Lets gooo! Couldnt wait for this!
That opening scene of ac2 is one of the best openings I have seen.
If you hold "high profile" while you're climbing, Ezio will climb faster than Altair
and the name of THE song is "Ezio's Family" by Jesper Kyd, I think it is the most iconic track of the whole series
It hasn’t even been 24 hours yet and I’m already jonesing for more, I’m way to excited for this.
The Ezio Family Theme is one of the best video game themes of all time.
OMG YES MEG! This is why youre my favourite content maker!
I love these games and always enjoy seeing someone get into them for the first time.
The song that plays on the tower was "ezio's family" it's arguably the theme that everyone associates with assassin's creed.
Yes! This is the first game I ever 100 percented. This and "Black Flag are my favorite Assassin's Creed games. They're also some of my favorite games. This is super nostalgic for me. I will be watching this entire playthrough with you "MegMage my friend ⚔️🙌
Black flag is still probably my favorite and my first full AC game, even though I was more interested in Valhalla, and am enjoying origins.
Assassin's Creed when it was at it's peak and this game is my all time fav.
That particular theme that gave you chills is known as "Ezio's Family" it sorta became the default theme of the series due to how incredible it is.
My first Assassin’s Creed game let’s gooo!!
The only lore relevant thing that one misses is the family crypt right? The rest is cosmetics?
@@laddanerskit3199 That was the free Uplay reward you can't get anymore. Another was a weapon upgrade, cosmetic outfit, desktop wallpaper, and PS3/XBox theme. Then there's the extra content you get if you own the PS3 copy of AC2 and connect it with Bloodlines. The rest are from the Deluxe edition (another cosmetic and 3 additional areas).
@@MS85Hart but the only thing that is actual gameplay and has lore/story is the family crypt right?
@@laddanerskit3199 yeah....
@@MS85Hart meh then the hassle of messing with the files probably not worth it, seen that some solutions are downloading something from peoples google drives, wouldn't trust that for a second. Especially considering you can just youtube the family crypt.
The music really sets the tone of entire AC series from AC2.
There's a reason why Ezio's Family is always in the top list of best video game music.
Desmond is related to Altair through his mom, and Ezio through his dad
seeing someone play this for the first time makes it feel like I'm experiencing it for the first time all over again as well
Wow Just what I wanted ❤️❤️❤️ thank you for starting ezio story line
Your laugh is so adorable 😻. And i love your energy. Keep it up love ❤
32:39 Arguably the greatest moment in gaming history! Especially with “Ezio’s Family” playing in the background
Super excited about this playthrough, hope you'll find ACII fun! It's definitely the most aged game in Ezio's trilogy, but it has my favorite story out of them and playing through, years after my first time, brought me a lot of fun, not even necessarily connected to nostalgia (though a bit too, let's be honest lmao)
Also, replaying it having learnt Italian in the last 13 years, some accents and grammatical errors in Italian crack me up 😅 still love Roger Craig Smith as Ezio, lots (wait, he also plays Batman in Arkham Origins... damn, what else do these games share lmfao)
(dunno if you want or need any info about additional content, but most side activites are better skipped, with one big exception... though I think you'll realize it easily )
Divertiti!
You just experienced one of the best intros in gaming of all time Meg, everyone gets this emotional for a reason...
The song that played on the rooftop is called Ezio's Family. Love that song
The assassins creed theme song comes from this game. It started it all.
Been sooo looong havnt seen AC4 reaction so excited.
Your hair looks fantastic! Can't wait to see your Oblivion playthrough continue btw. 😉
This game (and Black Ops 1) are essential to a specific year in my life. When I really started gaming. When I was still pure I guess, but started waking up to history and politics and realizing I was a real person
Welcome to an epic story girl ...thank u sooo much for get into the journey I went years ago ...😊😊😊😊
Just a little info, whenever you let go from ledges be sure you press the grab button again to catch yourself from falling higher places. So that way you won't lose health when you land on the ground.
Can't wait to see AC revelations, AC3 and AC rogue!!
AC1 was an ambitious game with a lot of promise. AC2 is that promise fulfilled when Ezio Auditore da Firenze takes center stage.
AC 2 soundtrack is my favourite music out of all the games, although i like a lot of the assassins creed soundtracks.
yea this and ac4 are by far the best, the ac rogue version of ezio's family is also really good
I love seing people fully invested in stories
Ngl if you playing all of them good luck you finna have content for a couple years tbh
🎶 Ezio's Family 🎶
Originally only the theme of Ezio's story arch but became so incredibly iconic that it is now the theme of Assassin's Creed as a whole.
35:00 just imagine everytime your about to get busy IRL, there's a " Press E To Interact" prompt that pops up lol
Meg is spoiling us AC fans! So, glad you started AC2 pretty much immediately!
You may have realized it already but Ezio's name is Ezio Auditore, "da Firenze" meaning "of Firenze" (or Florence)
There's lot to like and some things to dislike about the Ezio trilogy, but it is definitely some of Ubisoft's best work, even though there's lots to like/love in later games too.
You are going on a journey, you have noo idea how amazing that journey of AC2 is. Enjoy every moment of it because when it ends , you'll feel sad lol
I love how it takes place right after AC1
I love that you see the origin of the lip scar here
The database entries written by Shaun are similar to the ones in Batman.
Oh boy you’re in for an emotional roller coaster for this one
people tend to have hundreds of thousands of ancestors (if not much much more), not just one or two.
but its cute seeing your amazement at him having more than one lol
This game was my first love, hope you have as much fun playing it as I am watching :)
