Grab your favorite beverage and a comfortable seat; this is a full-length 1.5-hour adventure into the depths of the dark continent. I'll take you along with me through the ups and downs of the hunt, and delve into the spiritual realm. Experience remote Africa in a way you've never seen before.
I'm glad it kept you interested. Most people don't possess the attention span for a video like this. I like to tell a story with my hunts, because a great hunt isn't about kill-shots and trophy-poses; it's about the experience.
I've hunted in Africa several times but never in Zimbabwe- sure feel like going after watching this. Loving your channel. Learned a lot over the past couple of years from your videos. Great to see you out hunting. Thanks again.
Desert Dog, this was a safari done right, free-range style! The hunts were fun to watch, especially on the days without any luck, just the experience of the hunter who knows every hunt is rewarding, with or without a harvest. That tiger fish was unbelievable too! The sunsets on the river were stunning for sure. Glad y’all had a great adventure. That silver shop displayed some really old school craftsmanship! Yeah, this is one of your best hunt videos, no doubt!
Africa has so much beauty to behold, with the everchanging landscape, the huge variety of wildlife, and especially the wonderful people. Desert Dog, you showcased them all in a fantastic video that I truly enjoyed watching!! Thank you for sharing it and congratulations to you and your wife on a tremendous safari!! Keep up the great work!
Phenomenal! Loved every minute of your Zimbabwe video. Much respect for the local people, the staff, and the PH organization. Much admiration for Becky, too!
You did EXACTLY, the trip I dream of! It was awesome watching this documentary of your trip. Thank you for doing this. I've wanted to go to Zimbabwe ever since I read a National Geographic mag when I was a kid. I'm 58 now and still dreaming of a hunt in Zimbabwe. Watching this video makes me want to make that dream a reality. What a fantastic hunt that was! Thanks for sharing it.
Very enjoyable video. Surprised to find that you enjoyed the fishing more than the hunting. Africa is a fantastic place. Otherworldly...you captured the experience very well.
I actually researched duck testicles as a result of your comment. Thank you; a Culinary delicacy in much of the world, and hopefully my videos fulfill those high standards of excellence.
Love the intro. Me and my buddy went on a trip and the pictures online showed nice cabins. When we got there it was an old trailer with a hole in the bathroom wall. Little running water and the pit bull had his choices of beds. One for the memory books. We still laugh about it!!
Excellent video DD, I really enjoyed it!!!…….. we have a family farm in South Africa , on the West Coast, it is dead set 11 km from the sea and about 150 km South of the Orange River ( Namibia). This is a VERRY arid region. We don’t do trofee hunting here , to far away from major city’s and towns, but our game have excellent horns and body size. We started bringing in bigger body mass bulls with the biggest horns we can find, also big body mass cows where we can, poor quality animals have been culled. We done this with our Gemsbok ( Oryx) , Springbok,Eland and Blesbok. We have endeavor to this over 2 generations , and today our animals have the biggest horns and body mass in our area.
Just finished watching the entire adventure. I would love to hear some of the local stories about hunting and other lore. Looks like a great time, well done and thanks for sharing DDO!

Those are nice animals! My mouth was watering hearing and seeing the food lol. Africa intrigues me so much, I bought a bunch of books on your recommendation and am eager to go. Sure looks like the hunt of a lifetime! I would love to try some Cape buffalo, those Kebabs look so good

UGH... I placed an order for a Winchester Model 70 Safari Express in 416 Rem Mag back in January this year and I'm STILL waiting for it! I'm so jealous looking at yours! That gun is a BEAST!
@@desertdogoutdoors1113 going for the experience and to take it all in (hopefully with a little witch doctor luck I can get it done) This and all your videos help a lot. I really appreciate it.
Was in Lilongwe late at night with some business associates driving back to the hotel...we spotted 3 hyenas under a street light. They were much larger than I ever imagined. Chilling actually.
I was finally able to watch all the way through. What an incredible experience that must be. Thanks for taking us along! How difficult is it to get your trophies back home from there?
I discuss it at 4:22 in this video: ruclips.net/video/XqOtvl9anYI/видео.html I also review the performance in this video: ruclips.net/video/0Ule6-PfNPU/видео.html Both videos are worth watching if you're planning a buffalo hunt.
Desert Dog, I noticed your guide Keith was also wearing shorts. We’re his legs also cut up, or did they callus up, or was he able to avoid contact somehow? Great content! Practiced disciplined shot selection, and excellent marksmanship on shots taken. 4 for 4 good work.
His legs are a lot more calloused than mine, lol. I stopped wearing long sleeves after day 2 because they kept snagging on everything. The choice is scratched legs and cool comfort, or sweaty balls and constantly pulling pants out of thorny branches while stalking. Like I said in the video, to get these buffalo, you have to be tough like them.
Went back a couple of times to make sure I didn't miss the Buff shot. No video of the shot. Is it because RUclips doesn't allow filming the kill, or is it a local Safari thing?
@@desertdogoutdoors1113 Copy that...And many thanks for all the extra work creating this video must have been while you were trying to focus on and enjoy your hunt!
No time to watch this evening but be aware that this video did NOT show up in my notification feed. YT being slick and blacklisting it despite that I am subscribed?
I never, ever get notifications (requested) from ANY of my subscriptions. RUclips is terrible in that respect. I rarely get suggestions to the channels that I subscribe to. Especially overtly conservative channels like Andrew Klavan or Mark Dice.
Pants would have been fine the first 3 days, but after the Temps climbed above 100 the shorts were worth it. It's also a trade-off between getting scratched legs and dealing with pants snagging on everything constantly while stalking.
They want you to be successful, because the trophy fees and meat goes to the local village (which they don't get if you're unsuccessful). But true free-range hunts like this are always a gamble and there's a real chance you'll go home without firing a shot. This is how Buffalo should be hunted, and the hunt itself is more meaningful than the trophy.
