Heidi, you & Patrick are the people that will save us and our country, if we have issues arise in this crazy world. We need your learning and teaching ability to speak to us, and to the heart of the nation's people that will listen and learn again the old ways, tried and true, of living and surviving. For this I am thankful.
Oh Heidi, I'm so sorry about Grandpa Rain's passing. May he rest in peace.
Thank you for another informative video. You make a difference.
And yet, another informative video! Thanks Heidi and God Bless!!
I bought a human powered mower at an auction for a dollar! I also use hand trimmers instead of weed whackers as they all require “special” fuel now. Estate auctions are a great place to get good buys
God is speaking to us! Yours is the 3rd video in my feed today that discusses stocking oil/fuel!
Glad you spoke on saving and shopping and then paying cash. Some of these young people just can understand this concept. They buy buy buy and use charge cards and then caught in trap of living pay check to pay check. I have several gas can that I put stable in then rotate thru the cans. I've not had any problems with my gasoline which I use in lawn mower and generator
I just scribed to Bush Edge Homestead Australia. It is a really diverse environment from home. They have a serval videos about thier bio-gas system. Interesting.
So sorry for your loss. 🙏
Thanks Heidi 😊 ❤❤
Ed Begley had a "Green house" which he built out of cans, bottles, mud (bricks) etc. Great idea for using stationary bike to battery backup to power some electric appliances or DC power direct like motor homes : frig, lights, oven? Anyway quite frustrating for his wife and daughter to not run blow dryer etc! Or have air cond.
Excellent 👍🙏🕊🙏
You gave so many great options! Gas would be an issue for us, we only keep a couple of containers on hand. My sister in law gave us a wood stove, but we haven’t picked it up yet, but I am so excited! Mike keeps asking me where are you going to put it? I don’t know yet, I have to see how big it is. 😂 I will find a spot though. Shalom!
You have been a blessing for me. My husband and I had no idea how or why be prepared is so important and have all needs available for emergencies.
Fuel was one of them.
Again, I'm so happy to be nodding along with you on this. Some of my favorite things are from estate/yard sales or auctions - like my two washtubs with the stand. If the poop hits the rotary blades, I plan on doing laundry in my hoop house where I'm warm and out of the wind in the winter, LOL! I also stock up on 20-lb propane tanks, Kleen-Heat, and we bought a bunch of hurricane lamps through the years at auctions, but also have some from Lehman's along with many gallons of lamp oil. We rotate through fuel, and only buy low-ethanol for our small engines. My best-ever trade was my old pickup truck for a tractor. Having a tractor is a game changer for sure. It's 4WD, bucket loader, and we constantly search marketplace, etc., for attachments, and now are really hoping we find a sickle bar mower so we can start doing our own hay from our back field.
Good video, thanks for sharing YAH bless !
in a pinch a coffee mill can be used to grind grain.
That's what Ma Ingalls used during The Long Winter
thank you
Thank you😊
🥰
I bought 5-gal cans to store gasoline, but the new "safe" nozzles don't make it easy to pour without spilling all over. I've been to two city-wide rummage sales in the past month, and picked up an old fashioned metal funnel at one that will allow me to pour from the 5-gal cans to smaller ones, and at the second one I found a 2-gal gas can with the old fashioned spout on it. I also picked up a used Nesco dehydrator, canning jars, kitchen towels, an oil lantern, work table, storage bench, storage shelves, large pots for growing things, a pitchfork for turning my compost (works better than my potato fork), snow shovels, snow pants, camp stove...I don't remember what all. We don't seem to have the really great bargains that you guys manage (almost nothing sells for less than $5 around here, and things like the dehydrator cost $20) but at least I'm finally finding useful things, which for years I hadn't.
Karen, you can buy the converter kit for the gas cans that are hard to pour from. We found them at Merdochs, but tractor supply, Menards any farm/ranch type store probably carries them.
@@JudyKruse Never heard of Merdochs. Searched TSC & Menards but they didn't have them. I know I was looking around town 5-10 years ago and never found anything. I know they have them on Amazon, if all else fails.

Thank you for sharing your experience Heidi. It is extremely important to have alternatives to fuels. I hope those focused on protecting the environment will allow us to continue to use our old vehicles and continue with traditional fuels. Have a great afternoon ❤️😊❤
My case is too soon old. Too late smart. At 72. I’m just trying to maximize what I do have. And your advice all along has been very very helpful. Been a single parent n very independent but worked like a man and my body took the brunt. I’m still upright n mobile (slow) so I’m blessed. I’m in really good shape for the shape I’m in. Lmbo.
Thank you Heidi! Even the groaner was a chuckle! ☺️
Blessings! 💜
Fuel preparedness is just as important as food preparation Heidi. I store pretty much the same as you do and rotate it out. Then I refill when fuel is cheaper. I too store firewood, propane, lamp fuel, candles, etc. I don’t use kerosene for the reason you mentioned.
Good for starting fire in stove
I have a crank metal cheese shredder, works great,i also own hand tools,no electricity type, drills, saws, plainers,i had an old push mower, but its hard to mow with it so i got a gas one. I have multiple places to cook if power goes down,i do have propane, and my fireplace can be used for cooking. So i think i will be ok in an event.
I am reading a book called “Civil war plants and herbs”. There is a section on lighting and a lady said in her diary that she had thought her husband had put back a good supply of kerosine. However, a couple of years into the war their supply ran out and so she was having to learn how to make candles. She said that candle making was a skill that had been lost to antiquity so all of the ladies were having to make them for light. So interesting! Even during the civil war people needed to relearn the old ways. Thanks for all of the great I great information!
Propane and Bio gas don't go bad,,,, Bio gas (methane) is easy to make and the added benefit of excellent fertilizer !!!
You're on fire!!! Lol. Once again useful information. Thank you and God Bless
👍
If you're looking into Biodiesel for Generator, I would actually suggest BioGas. Turn compost into gas.
Thomas H. Culhane has a video on '4k generator on biogas'
Heidi,not dumb,cheesy maybe,not dumb very charming 😂
How does that plastic jug for clean fuel hold up over time?
Never had any issues
Thank you.
Thank you!
Call me a doomer, but I anticipate a time when fuels will no longer be available. I do store some but I also think of how to do things when fuel is no longer an option. I need to get out an about for the old tume garding inplements. I have machetes but a big old scythe looks more productive. I do a lot of my gardening by hand, digging furrows and turning over soil manually. I do it because I am working a no till, back to eden method. I love it because there is nothing better than an honest sweat and really dirty hands, knees and feet.
Heidi funny 😂😂
🌻🐛🌿💚👍🙏
When you live in desert region, whatvis the suggestion on storing different type fuels? Thanks in advance for the advice. I love 2nd hand and antiques also, but we have downsized and dont ha e much storage place as we did in Georgia.
We purchased a couple kerosene heaters a couple of years ago and have never used them. We also purchased many gallons of what I believe to be Klean heat. We have it stored in our basement and some open large heavy duty storage plastic containers. What is the best way to store any kerosene?
I bought gas to store for my generator & car, but I never heard how long it stays good to use. I've read many things & was really hoping you would give some idea about how long they last. There's been talk about being prepared for a couple years & I'm afraid I've been too far ahead of the game. 😣 How long does gas last?? I love your videos, Heidi! Thanks! 💕
That would be a question for Patrick but I also know it depends on where and how it is stored. Gas in a lawnmower not stored indoors can go bad during the winter but gas stored in gas cans in a dry place I know can last at least a couple of years
I have about 15 gallons in 3 containers...in my garage, up off the concrete floor. It's been over a year (I think!). Does Patrick have a channel?? That would be good--I enjoy some of the things he does! Thanks for your reply! 💕

Look into a product called stabil.. it's an additive for gas and diesel to keep it fresh for longer.
@@gaylesmith1738 you can buy fuel stabilizer to put in to extend the fuel life.
🥰🤍
Cute little joke you did.
