At around 19:20, the song is called "I'm Gonna Find Another You" by John Mayer!
Can you please pin this so that people find it. It took me too long to comb through all the comments to find out what this song was!
Thanks!
Tino Sak THANK YOU
welcome 😊
Thanks tiny sack
Tino Sak Jesus thanks man! I was looking for that
Tino Sak what is that song at about 5 minutes
Epi dot. Gotta feed the family.
Rhupert Gribley
But a Vintage make copy instead. Beats Epiphone, hands down.
Waves of Intuition like the 90s ones or newer ones
The epiphone dot is a unappreciated beauty
Gingerbread King I see you everywhere! I say you on Mattiboo then commented on one of your videos like 6 months ago and you’re everywhere. I guess we watch the same kind of videos
@@whateverittakes4345 the older models of vintage vsa535 have the correctly aligned ears at the top of the body as well, i had one of these for a long time and honestly it was one of the nicest i've ever played for 175 pounds delivered, only sold it for an epi casino because its completely hollow
we need a The Captain Meets... Danish Pete video, i'd love to hear his background and how he became such a well rounded player
Moltisanti that would be cool to see on all the guys that demo on the channel!
great idea
Moltisanti he used to be a session musician, and has played with tom jones and olly murrs to my knowledge. he also used to be a mesa rep, but around the time Andertons got that bum mesa cab and got grilled by mesa for giving a bad review, danish pete was sent in by mesa to review it alongside lee, as "insurance" that mesa would get a good review. Pretty sure DP saw the shady business practices, Andertons liked him and the rest is history. Could be wrong tho but that's all i know/have heard
You don't hear much about Mesa cab clones these days, I thing they're about as popular as Trump right now
Jordan Can you tell me which video it is they burn the mesa cab? Or did they take it down?
This just proves that the most influential part of the guitar is the player. A good guitarist can get the best out of anything.
If I played both guitars, they would both sound just as bad as each other, and no amount of money spent on a guitar could make me sound any better.
This pair could make a cigar box guitar sound like a Gibson........
Yes, if I could play as good as these guys the guitar I owned would not matter. Also, I’m not good enough to hear a discernible difference between the two guitars. They both sound good. The Epi, to me, is clearly “good enough.” We all have our preferences but the Epi does sound good. If there were no Gibson to compare the Epi to, would you think the Epi sounded good? Based on this video, hell yes!
Agree, but would add: The quality of the guitar player AND the quality of th equipment, like amp, effects (and the skill to dial 'em in correctly)..
There was a clear "loser" here: the shirts.
For the guitars, the Epi was 90% of the Gibson for 10% of the cost.
You can make it 99 for 20-30% price too if that 10% itch gets worse in the future
Not a good comparison. The guitars are different colors. The resonance of a red guitar is not equal to that of sunburst.
Of course...lol.
@@tristan3665 does seem like something some guitarists would say
Stop talking nosenses Billy Corgan
Is this comment for real?
Total nonsense to say that the color of the guitar decides how well it sounds!
This probably sells more epiphone guitars than Gibsons
I prefer the Epiphone in sound
It worked for me today :) I`m well happy with the Epiphone it makes sense to me.
I'd buy the Epiphone. Already own an Epiphone les Paul. I like it better than my Gibson Les Paul. Lol
@@jmartini8875 That's hilarious
Epiphone to me makes better guitars than gibson, in my opinion.
Danish Pete is so good a player that he just needs a guitar. It doesn't matter if its a 300$ one or a 3000$ one. He is just fantastic. Love you Danish Pete!!!!
Love this channel! It's like Top Gear for guitars!
Top comment
Couldn't have put it better.
... but top gear is for fuel economy / highway use.
Damn. Now that I think about it...
"Today on Andertons, Rabea finds his groove, Pete looks for his danish and the Captain plays the most expensive guitar ... In the store."
"Law of Diminishing Returns" again.
If they made a version of the 300 pound guitar with the ES-335 pickups and charged 450 pounds, that would probably be the sweet spot there.
Bam!
put cheap pick ups in an expensive guitar & put expensive pickups in a cheap guitar, compare the two
Dear God this is madness
My Epiphone Dot has Seymour Duncan '59 pickups and I bet it sounds every bit as good as this Gibson ES-335 with the stock pickups.
bugo348 this is the second day in a row that I heard somebody give a raving review of the DOT compared to a multi-thousand dollar es-335.
I had a Fender Mexican Standard Tele that I put an ad for on a local gear for sale or trade Facebook group. I posted that I wanted to trade it for a Jaguar or a Jazzmaster but that I would consider other interesting trades. I got many lowball offers but I got a message from a guy who asked if I would be interested in an Epiphone Dot. He said that it had been upgraded with the Seymour Duncans and a Bigsby vibrato. I told him that I was absolutely interested. I had played a $2000 Gibson Les Paul a couple of weeks before and I didn't like it very much. While I was on the way to make the trade, I kept thinking "I hope this Epi doesn't play like that Gibson" thinking that maybe that was just how Gibsons play. I was very nicely surprised when I got the Epiphone in my hands. I can't say enough good things about this guitar. It sounds good, plays good, looks good. It has the "it" factor in spades. It has the "soul" that many guitars, including the Gibson I played lack. Every time I look at it or play it, I am amazed at how Epiphone can make such a high quality, intricate, complex guitar at such a low price point. The Dot is the best value in the guitar world today. I don't deny that the Gibson ES-335 is a "nicer" guitar but I can't imagine being happier with it than I am with my Epi.
bugo348 x
Brilliant video. And I love the comedic chemistry between these guys and the skill of playing to demonstrate the guitars. More of this please.
It doesn't matter what you guys are playing , you guys make them all sound great
Busking challenge!
Pete, Mick, Rob, Rab, and Captain get an affordable electric busking setup and go to the streets-whoever gets the most dough wins the pot!
The Gibson DID sound better... and that Epiphone was not bad at all. Over time...good question.
Pete can make anything sound expensive.
was just gonna say...Pete can make a _____ sound good!
You just need expensive amps
@@variklane7032 Looks like my post was edited. Can’t remember what the point of my comment was now.
My goodness mick and Pete!! I have been following Anderton's shows for. Long while ... this is by far one of the best jams on Anderton's TV. Sounded so spontaneous ,raw and natural ... kudos! Loved every bit of it... need more of this ... so inspired to play tonight
Definitely two of my favorite players playing together on RUclips. Just love listening to ye jam. Just really classy. Great vid.
Great video as usual. Keep the comparisons coming, this one was great.
What a great comparison review! So thorough, honest and enjoyable - great stuff guys! (only just found it and it's now 2023!!!
Going back watching this... Especially after that harmony at the start of their jam, really makes me miss this epic show with epic hosts ❤️ all love from Denmark!
I'd also love the most expensive Epiphone vs. the cheapest Gibson... that's another interesting challenge since they're generally in almost the same price range :)
Phil Smith they've just done that like 2 days ago on rob chapmans channel at andertons with les Paul's. Check it out!
I know (I was one of the guys that wrote to Lee for that challenge, and also why I'm mentioning it here too)... I was saying it here for this 335 challenge; (and also Tele and Strat would be great).
Because the more we see this kind of challenge, and the more blindfold test we do and see, the more we understand that gear is gear and there's not a lot of really "bad" gear today. Even the entry price guitars, amps, pedals, etc.. are perfectly capable and don't sound "ridiculously bad" in comparison to some high-end and prestige expensive gear. So there's absolutely no reason at all to not make music; Music has never been so accessible to everyone.
And don't get me wrong, there's still some reasons for this high-end gear to exist. But a 10 times more expensive guitar isn't 10 times "better" than a more affordable guitar. But sometimes, it could still be worth the price even if it's just to get the very last percent... on top of the collection value.
But when we look at the entry prices, regardless if it's some Squier/Epiphone guitars, or even Fender/Marshall/Boss amps, or pedals such Tone City (or other Chinese pedals), we really come a long way from 10, 20 or even 30 years ago. Mass production quality has really improved the last decade.
Personally, back in the days I was kind of "snob" and would have never bought a Squier, nor even a Fender that isn't Made in the US... But today? I'd buy anything that I try and find good, regardless what is written on the headstock. Few weeks ago, I just bought a '94 Made in Japan Strat for 350 bucks, and she's a beauty and has nothing to be shame in comparison to my 3,000+ guitars that I also love. YMMV
My 2¢
Phil Smith i think you're supposed to comment on what you've seen instead of belly ache about not seeing something different?
Yeah
@@Spidouz I fully agree with you
Ernie ball ad came on with Paul Gilbert shredding for 2 mins
Did not skip
Nice review, thanks guys. I would LOVE to see some lessons uploaded from both of you because your playing sounded gorgeous to me.
Yeaaah... Such a delight to hear you playing, guys !
I bought a dot recently so I was really happy when you said nice things about it
I use a eq pedal to slightly cut bass and boost clarity with the epiphone 335 pro. It works wonders. I use a strat and the 335 pro with the same amp, so I just kick on the eq pedal when using the 335. It's sounds magical and almost indistinguishable for the Gibson 335 I also have.
I have a 2001 Epi dot Made in Korea. Installed new pots / wiring loom and a set of Gibson 57 classics. Sounds killer.
Great vid guys. Wornderful to hear a comparision that is not all just shredding. Chappers and the Captain Be Told.
YES! Thanks for catching on to the expensive vs affordable videos! 🏆
Mick and Pete an amazing guitar pairing. Very inspiring playing.
playing moving on and getting over made my day! thanks guys!
THAT OPENING JAM THOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CRIPES!
If I went back on the road, the Epi would be my go-to guitar. Good vid !
My suggestion would be to compare budget hollows and semi hollows - having one is a must for every guitarist out there. Let's say upper limit is 500 GBP - so we have quite a lot of Epiphones: Dot, Casino, Casino Coupe, ES339 PRO, Wildkat, but also Gretsch Streamliners, also something from Ibanez would fit into this price range.
Agreed. And it can serve as an intro to hollow / semi-hollow for people who are ready to make that leap: the tones you should be looking for, what to expect under gain, etc.
You two fellas might just be the most likable guitar playing pair of reviewers out there. THOROUGHLY enjoyed this review and appreciate the licks, balanced perspective, and set for life. You've got a musical friend in Texas.
I believe the Epiphone would have sounded even better than it is if they could adjust the pickup height properly. Fantastic playing as usual. Such a treat for all of us.
They both sound fantastic here. It’s great that there are affordable, great guitars these days. For the most part, it wasn’t like that in the past.
I'm always impressed at how good ES-335 guitars sound.
try a yamaha sa2200 sometime
That intro jam almost made me break all my fingers. Amazing!
Did not expect the MOGO jam to start, awesome video!
Nice to hear actual music being played.
RIP Chuck Berry 1926-2017
Excellent chaps. Some lovely playing. You really challenged my thinking... Love the jazz licks Pete.
Love you guys! It's always interesting to hear you play and to hear your thoughts. I am so glad I already have a 335 because it would be hard to justify not buying the Epiphone Dot instead. And they both sound awesome through the H&K tubemeister.
I was thinking "that Epiphone is really sweet" until around 4:37 when it was like, OMFG that is THE tone! Actually, every time either of them plays the Gibson I smiled.
On YT the Epiphone Dot sounds better, the Gibson may feel better in the hands, but it's definitely not 10 times better. The Epi in the video just sounds great.
SomeTimeGuitarist I agree. I just purchased a Epiphone 335 pro it's very nice and feels nice. May change pickups to 57 classics. It stays in tune better than my Gibson Les Paul Studio that I paid $1,500 for.
I mean the Epi is not far off but there's no way in hell it sounds better
These are amazing value. Change the pickups if you like but what a guitar for the money.
why do kids come on YT claiming a 10x cheaper guitar sounds 'better'...it's plain stupidity
shaft9000 how is that ? Could it be they tested them both themselves and figured out Gibson is the name brand and costs more bc of that and American labor costs . I owned several Gibson’s and the epiphones sound great and play great and I changed pickups and run mine thru a great amp and then the rest of the tone is in my hands . It’s not stupidity - face it today they can build great guitars at a much cheaper price , it’s competition and Gibson’s today are not as good as they were from the 50’s- 80’s , they are mass produced with the exception being their custom shop guitars which are hand built by one -2 people . But few can afford those
Have to say another fantastic video from Andertons shame they are not near enoungh for me to visit. Love this channel theres always something of interest, and good info in the comments. Thanks to all for that.
I love it when these guys et together. Pete had me in stitches.
MORE OF THESE!
Ok...
Cheapest Gibson 335 vs. Most expensive Epiphone 335. Then for SG then tele. =D
Andrew Gruna The Fender Classic Player Baja Tele deserves special attention, as it is the only way to get that chucky, soft-v neck from Fender without paying serious money…mine should arrive tomorrow.
Robstafarian False
Ongo Gablogian Which other Fender production models have that neck?
gotta love that cheeky lil bit of john mayer xD
Connor Foy my favourite part 😂👍🏻 #gayformayer
Hahahah too good ;D
Which song was it?
Moving On and Getting Over
Thanks man. But I was asking about the one that Pete plays in 19:30 comparing the 2 guitars. If someone knows...
You guys took the "vs" video format to the next level.
As a owner of both Gibson and Epiphone products, its nice to Anderstons final give Epiphone some love after ALL these years. Also own a Hughes & Kettner TubeMeister 18. Very nice to see Mick using a Hughes & Kettner as well.
Excellent work gents, some amazing playing!
I bought an Ibanez AS73 in sunburst years ago which compares to the Epiphone Dot, and it STUNNED me with its fit, finish, and tone. That was the Chinese guitar that made me change my mind about Chinese quality. I like the Ibanez better than my Gibson Lucille, especially if you take price into account.
you two smashed it , Pete as always killer playing , very impressed with the 300.00 minus a pound guitar
I got so excited when you started playing JM!! Moving On and Getting Over plus I'm Gonna Find Another You
I have been waiting so long for this video love you guys
I sold my dot about a month ago and this video makes me very sad. Great vid guys!
Ridiculous playing and tone, two of the best guitar players around. Made me grab my 335 instantly. Greetings from Chile
love these guys! even as a life long metalhead I enjoy these jams so, so much!
That jam at the beginning was something else, love Pete. Such an awesome player.
Excellent musicians playing great tunes. It makes awesome guitar reviews. Buy the Dot, rent the Gibson if you cut a record. Or swap the pickups in the Dot. Thanks.
I have an epiphone es-335 pro which I purchased in Andertons. Is got nicer pickups and tuners and a few bits n bobs. But man is it close to a real 335. Closer than the dot and not much more money
335 Pro has very good pickups. Alnico Classic Pro, good !!!!
I also have the Epi 335 PRO but I don't like the pickups at all(Classic PRO I think).I've also got an Epi LP Plustop PRO with Probuckers which are so much better. They should put them in the 335.
Same here - I didn´t think the the PROs sounded good at all.
im pretty sure alnico classic pros are just alnico 5s.
awesome!!Love both you guys!!
I demoed my dad's Epiphone Dot a while back, and it completely blew me away. I wasn't expecting it to sound as great as it did.
I'm 5mins into this video and so far its my fave ever.
"Hello! And welcome to Sounds like on Andertons TV!" You get a like straightaway for that one Danish Pete!
Informative and entertaining comparison. Musicianship off the wall! For budget reasons, and after lots of research, I purchased an Epiphone es335 pro. The action needs to be lowered a bit, but for the first time this newbie was able to experience controlled feedback. Love the semi hollow’s tonality. Very comfortable electric for transition from acoustic playing.
Real nice playing and very best comparison I've seen.
Oh man that JM intro was super slick.
Love the epi. Just seems like such a great guitar for the price. Great video guys
Great video. Please do more of these comparisons
Had to like the video when I heard moving on and getting over.. love it
The problems with epiphone are the parts that are easily replaceable; pickups, tuners and other hardware. It makes sense they're cheap because people replace that stuff even on much more expensive guitars! I think Rob mentioned that was what they did on his guitar company too. I love the epiphone I've got and what I've owned before, great guitars with a little work!
I agree. I had a Joe Bonamassa GT for a while. It was a great guitar (granted, it has Gibson Burstbuckers in it). Not sure about the rest of the electronics, but it was stock. I wish I still had it.
Great energy from you guys and the Dot sounds amazing for the money.
2020 and still one of my favorite episodes!!!
And i still love my 1994 Epi Dot Studio...
I own a dot in sunburst and I absolutely love it!
My friend's Epi 335 is a fantastic guitar... its got binding and block inlays, also its very pretty. They certainly hold their own.
LOVE that you busted out the new Mayer stuff on the jam
My Dot is with me more than 16 years. Stock everything except the replacement stock neck pickup. I absolutely love this guitar. Won't be buying any Gibson ES-335 to replace it.
I see Pete and Mick in the preview I click like.
holy shit that openning jam
Beautiful playing guys!!!!!
Danish Pete you dog with that beautiful playing! I would love more of these kind of videos!!
Law of diminishing returns, there is a very good chance that the pricier Epiphone guitars are going to be the best bang for your buck between the Epiphone and Gibson guitars.
Ah the sound of reason. Always baffles me when people keep asking to do a comparison between most expensive Gibson (LP, SG, 355, etc.) vs the cheapest Epiphone equivalent model. That's comparing apples to oranges.
What makes more sense is to compare cheaper Gibsons vs the pricier Epiphones. ...Which Anderson's finally did some time ago.
Best opening jam I've ever seen
Hey Mick, Pete, how about making a band and touring CANADA? You guys sound really amazing together. You give each other enough space and support... showcasing the other guys talent in amazing ways. Keep the videos coming guys!
so much yess!!!! first clip is mayer too. jeezzz way to make me want a 335 even more
I played a Dot on my last record. The thing just blew my mind, I used it rather than my 1996 PRS. Through a Marshall it was amazing! The vintage 335 sounds better, but in a dense guitar wall, I am not so sure it matters.
The ES line are the best guitars in the world. Even the Eppie version stills sounds better than most non Gibson guitars. The only exception is the Guild Starfire VI, and it's South Korean manufactured but is just as good and sounds and plays just as marvelous.
I picked one up at guitar center plugged into a Marshall Amp and 👏 wow. I now have a sherato pro 2 in layaway
It would have been interesting to have included the Sheraton too.
They both sound great to me. It is the skill of the players.
Andrew... you nailed it...
Sheraton is just a fancy ES-335, but they do have the cool "vine" headstock inlay with the big head! Epiphones are a GR8 deal. I have 3 killer Epis, a custom SG Jr, a custom Les Paul Special & an ES-175 Premium, all for less than 1 Gibson SG Jr.
I have been listening to "Moving on and getting over" for the whole day and when Mick and Pete started playing it I thought I'm going crazy😁
this was an excellent review. Well done!
R.I.P to the great Chuck Berry
I would love to see the exact reversed version of this! The most expensive ES-335 style Epiphone like the Sheraton II Pro vs the cheapest Gibson ES-335! I've heard there's virtually no difference, apart from the fact that Gibson rub all its guitars against unicorns.
Alejandro Mironov dude, the unicorn dust is magic tho. If u rub your guitar on a unicorn u become Mark Knopfler the second you start playing it.
Just bought the Cherry red Dot today because of this video...thanks guys, from Joe in North Carolina, USA
Just terrific playing of two really good guitars by two excellent players - thank you guys! I have two DOT's, one is stock and I use it for lap style playing with a raised nut and it sounds better than my old lap steels! The other has SD Seth Lover pups and does me just fine without breaking the bank - thank you Epiphone :-)
that jam has made me decide to get an Epiphone Dot
Dot studio owner reporting. Best $199usd I ever spent.
Fantastic sound, pairing, & video. You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting to hear a neck pickup on clean. Everybody starts bridge with super distortion, and that annoys the shite out of me. Keep up the good work, and let’s see some more!
as usual great playing!
My bro sold me an '04 Epi Dot for $80. It plays incredibly well so I put some Gibson '57 Classics in it. Part of me still wants a 335 but this Epi will be hard to beat!
