Falling in forbidden love with a human, like her father before, she decides to shed her divinity for the man of her dreams. Only to let her father show her, that in the end, everything she'll ever give and get is another fleeting moment of bliss.
It's just a theory... but more plausible to me without some gender-changing shenanigans in storytelling. ^^ We just spun the theory a little further on another reactor's channel: First, we see François-Édouard Picot's painting "L'Amour et Psyché" hanging in the Louvre - the (Roman) mythological backstory has already happened! Continuity! Something interesting I realized that I didn't the first time around was that the guy (presumably Psyche) already knew her in a way. That is, he dreamed of her. During the museum scene of side A, Danielle sings, "Dreaming of each other..." while they are in front of the symbolic painting. This is further supported by when he sees her human form after she sheds her divinity, as we briefly see he was already painting her. If you think about it, it's not surprising that her attachment to this mortal manifested through his dreams. I think it makes the story that much more tragic.

The director is Wooseok Shin, who made Ditto and OMG music videos as well! You can tell just from the amazing work he does for these girls. Before the OMG era he was going to stop working with kpop, while NewJeans was going to be his last work for kpop but he came back and worked with NewJeans again, and I'm kinda glad he came back because I love his films and creativity behind these music videos. Makes sense why I literally can't get over this MV, Denis Villeneuve is my favorite film maker of the last decade by a wide margin. NewJeans is an amazing group that pushes the boundaries on whats possible artistically in kpop and it's insane they're taking such risks whilst they're in their debut year and at the top, they have so much to lose but still willing to take these risks.

i wasn’t a fan of newjeans when they debuted, i like attention but hype boy and the whole mini wasn’t really my taste, and then they came back with ditto and omg and i was absolutely shocked, this laid back type of music with great synths and soothing vocals is one of my favorite types of songs. super shy was great but this song is just phenomenal to me, nothing outstanding about rap versus or vocals, but it’s done so moderately and decently that i’m absolutely in love, it’s haunting and mesmerizing. The mvs are GORGEOUS, BEAUTIFUL and they are honestly impressing me every single time more and more. It truly is like a work of art

If we pay attention to why "get up" sounds at the beginning of the right side of the earphone, it is because it is telling you to follow the song, basically its like looking for where the music is coming from, and that is reflected when the actress in the credits walks to the end of the hallway but when the music of new jeans sounds on the right side of the earphone, the actress also hears that and decides to follow the music, in the scene it is clearly seen that she turns to the right following the song, and when she meets the source of the sound, that is new jeans, that is when we hear the song completely from both earphones.... yeah, it's awesome how they play with all our senses in the new jeans MVs hahaha 🤭

As ARMY I took major hint from that big painting in the museum. BTS Blood, Sweat & Tears use many classical painting as part of their MV narrative so I pick up fast that this NJ mv story is based on Eros and Psyche myth. So many reactors kinda miss that hint though (I'm happy you look it up), but it's also fun to hear many different kind of interpretation.
The story of this mv is based on the movie City of Angels. This film tells the story of an angel who falls in love with a woman and decides to become human to be with her. But shortly afterwards the woman he fell in love with dies. In short, his transition to human was in vain. In the Cool With You mv the woman is a cupid who fell in love with a man to the point of completely forgetting what her job is. Throughout the MV you see her ignore a chancs to make the guy fall in love with other woman because now she wants him. At the end of the day "A" MV, she gives up her divinity to live her human love. At first everything works out but then when she goes to meet him, another cupid appears behind the guy and she understands everything. She is desperate because she knows that the other cupid is going to make her boyfriend fall in love with another woman.. And that's what happens. Now she's alone without love and without her immortality.

Okay so let me explain the "Cool With You" MV with Side A & B. It's basically a modern version of Eros(Cupid) Psyche, and Venus(Aphrodite). Before I start, the girl from Squid Game (Hoyeon) is Eros, her love interest is Psyche, and the old guy at the end of Side B is Venus. Also, keep it in mind that Psyche is mortal while Eros and Venus are immortal. Furthermore and this is referring to the original story, Aphrodite is so jealous of Psyche's beauty that she send her son, Cupid, on a mission to go pierce the heart of Psyche and make him fall in love with a creature or an unworthy person. Now In Side A, Cupid's job is to make others find their love interests and fall in love but she ended up falling in love with a mortal herself, which is Psyche. The two individuals in the painting are Cupid and Psyche and that scene also shows their role, the girl being Cupid and the guy being the person that's laying on the bed, which is Psyche. Her interest is Psyche is what causes everything to go completely left. After she started having feelings for Psyche, the couple that she set up together in the elevator of side A broke up in that one seen where she sits at the cafe after the whole incident , her powers are lessening. At the end of Side A, her standing in the rain is somewhat a sybolization of Cupid scratching or piercing herself with her own arrow and pleading to be human so she can fall in love. She's able to feel the rain touch her skin, symbolizing that her wish came true. Now Side B is a continuation, she is human, he is now able to see her, and they fall in love and date. Fast forward to the street scene, the guy that shows up behind her boyfriend is Aphrodite. Aphrodite finds out as to why things were messing up and decided to correct it, turning Cupid back into their original state and basically erases her human status. Additionally, making Psyche fall in love with the girl walking behind Cupid and that's the end. Now where does NewJeans play in all of this? they are Cupid's guardian angels to make sure that cupid is doing her job and everything is going accordingly, hence why they are the only ones able to see her throughout the entirety of the MV. (Sorry the explanation is so long but I hope that this helped❤❤❤❤❤)

In my interpretation of this MV, I feel like Hoyeon interprets Cupid/Eros and the male actor interprets Psyche, while Liung is Venus/Aphrodite. Being always surrounded by love, Cupid is almost indiferent to it already and never falls in love. But then Psyche (the male actor) shows up and everything changes. Cupid gets the chance to live that love but while doing that, Cupid forgets about his/her "mission", which is easily "fixed" by Venus.

Hoyeon is Eros or Cupid. She fells into a guy (Micol), so she becomes a human herself. But, someone higher (Tony) resets it at the end. This is the story of MV. This is also the underlying story of that painting in the museum.
Something interesting I realized that I didn't the first time around was that the guy (presumably Psyche) already knew her in a way. That is, he dreamed of her. During the museum scene of side A, Danielle sings, "Dreaming of each other..." while they are in front of the symbolic painting. This is further supported by when he sees her human form after she sheds her divinity, as we briefly see he was already painting her. If you think about it, it's not surprising that her attachment to this mortal manifested through his dreams. I think it makes the story that much more tragic.

The director is Wooseok Shin, who made Ditto and OMG music videos as well! You can tell just from the amazing work he does for these girls. Before the OMG era he was going to stop working with kpop, while NewJeans was going to be his last work for kpop but he came back and worked with NewJeans again, and I'm kinda glad he came back because I love his films and creativity behind these music videos. He such an amazing director

Makes sense why I literally can't get over this MV, Denis Villeneuve is my favorite film maker of the last decade by a wide margin. NewJeans is an amazing group that pushes the boundaries on whats possible artistically in kpop and it's insane they're taking such risks whilst they're in their debut year and at the top, they have so much to lose but still willing to take these risks.

i wasn’t a fan of newjeans when they debuted, i like attention but hype boy and the whole mini wasn’t really my taste, and then they came back with ditto and omg and i was absolutely shocked, this laid back type of music with great synths and soothing vocals is one of my favorite types of songs. super shy was great but this song is just phenomenal to me, nothing outstanding about rap versus or vocals, but it’s done so moderately and decently that i’m absolutely in love, it’s haunting and mesmerizing. The mvs are GORGEOUS, BEAUTIFUL and they are honestly impressing me every single time more and more. It truly is like a work of art

For me new jeans are Erotes, these little children with wings that creates relationships . In Ancient Greek religion and mythology, the Erotes are a collective of winged gods associated with love and sexual intercourse. They are part of Aphrodite's retinue. They used to be represented like children playing and dancing with wings.Stories of the Erotes' mischief or pranks were a popular theme in Hellenistic culture.

Eros: was the original, primordial god of love and intercourse; he was also worshiped as a fertility deity. Hesiodo said it is the force of love (behind all things in universe) and the first god was create out of primordial chaos. Later myths said is the son of venus and mars.

If we pay attention to why "get up" sounds at the beginning of the right side of the earphone, it is because it is telling you to follow the song, basically its like looking for where the music is coming from, and that is reflected when the actress in the credits walks to the end of the hallway but when the music of new jeans sounds on the right side of the earphone, the actress also hears that and decides to follow the music, in the scene it is clearly seen that she turns to the right following the song, and when she meets the source of the sound, that is new jeans, that is when we hear the song completely from both earphones.... yeah, it's awesome how they play with all our senses in the new jeans MVs hahaha 🤭

As ARMY I took major hint from that big painting in the museum. BTS Blood, Sweat & Tears use many classical painting as part of their MV narrative so I pick up fast that this NJ mv story is based on Eros and Psyche myth. So many reactors kinda miss that hint though (I'm happy you look it up), but it's also fun to hear many different kind of interpretation.
The story of this mv is based on the movie City of Angels.
This film tells the story of an angel who falls in love with a woman and decides to become human to be with her.
But shortly afterwards the woman he fell in love with dies.
In short, his transition to human was in vain.
In the Cool With You mv the woman is a cupid who fell in love with a man to the point of completely forgetting what her job is. Throughout the MV you see her ignore a chancs to make the guy fall in love with other woman because now she wants him.
At the end of the day "A" MV, she gives up her divinity to live her human love.
At first everything works out but then when she goes to meet him, another cupid appears behind the guy and she understands everything.
She is desperate because she knows that the other cupid is going to make her boyfriend fall in love with another woman..
And that's what happens.
Now she's alone without love and without her immortality.
That was Emmy award winning Jung Ho-yeon from 'Squid Game'. I recognized her immediately.

Okay so let me explain the "Cool With You" MV with Side A & B. It's basically a modern version of Eros(Cupid) Psyche, and Venus(Aphrodite).
Before I start, the girl from Squid Game (Hoyeon) is Eros, her love interest is Psyche, and the old guy at the end of Side B is Venus.
Also, keep it in mind that Psyche is mortal while Eros and Venus are immortal. Furthermore and this is referring to the original story, Aphrodite is so jealous of Psyche's beauty that she send her son, Cupid, on a mission to go pierce the heart of Psyche and make him fall in love with a creature or an unworthy person.
Now In Side A, Cupid's job is to make others find their love interests and fall in love but she ended up falling in love with a mortal herself, which is Psyche. The two individuals in the painting are Cupid and Psyche and that scene also shows their role, the girl being Cupid and the guy being the person that's laying on the bed, which is Psyche. Her interest is Psyche is what causes everything to go completely left. After she started having feelings for Psyche, the couple that she set up together in the elevator of side A broke up in that one seen where she sits at the cafe after the whole incident , her powers are lessening. At the end of Side A, her standing in the rain is somewhat a sybolization of Cupid scratching or piercing herself with her own arrow and pleading to be human so she can fall in love. She's able to feel the rain touch her skin, symbolizing that her wish came true.
Now Side B is a continuation, she is human, he is now able to see her, and they fall in love and date. Fast forward to the street scene, the guy that shows up behind her boyfriend is Aphrodite. Aphrodite finds out as to why things were messing up and decided to correct it, turning Cupid back into their original state and basically erases her human status. Additionally, making Psyche fall in love with the girl walking behind Cupid and that's the end.
Now where does NewJeans play in all of this? they are Cupid's guardian angels to make sure that cupid is doing her job and everything is going accordingly, hence why they are the only ones able to see her throughout the entirety of the MV.

Hotel de luna, My roomate is a gumiyo, Goblin, the bride of habaek, moon lover (another drama with IU), korean odysee and so many others. but yes new jeans are one of the rare group told stories in this way. they even take the risk of putting it back in their own MV and leave the main role to Ho-yeo

NewJeans are like guardian angels looking over her making sure shes doing her job.
