Traded my 2022 crv awd in for 2024 RAV4. The crv was absolutely perfect so why did I? I plan on keeping the Rav4 as long or longer than our 05 accord which is still perfect! So the#1 reason is: Atkinson cycle with direct AND PORT injection!! No carbon worries ever and NO TURBO to worry about! I still stand by the CRV but I wanted looonngggg term ownership! Love the Rav!!!
The MAJOR problems in the 5th generation RAV4: (1)2019-2021 roof rail leaks (rail design changed in 2022) and (2) Coolant bypass valve failures in all model years 2019 and up in both hybrid and gas models. The transmission shifting problems were only on early 2019-2020 and were fixed by a software reprogramming TSB.
Not to mention cable gate- corrosion of the hybrid battery cable tends to happen driven in salted roads areas- they fixed it in the 2023 models- I think
