I've had "sport" on a couple of cars. It really makes a difference in accelerating and, stranger than true, better in deceleration. Affecting the steering in sport is a real advantage of 'drive-by-wire'. I left the SS in sport mode as much as possible, but she was a sport sedan so why not? Now, some sport modes do change the EFI mapping for better throttle response. Others merely hold the trannie in the lower gears before upshifting. Unless you're a gas mileage freak, I'd leave it in sport mode. But I'm crazy.
I drive normally in Eco mode in my 2023 Rav4 XLE. That gets me over 33 mph on average, and fine for tooling around town in heavy traffic and on the downslope of hills. I use Sport mode on freeway merging, and that really pops.
I think those modes are more noticable in city driving. It makes for a bit sportier shifting. You probably noticed that in your Prius a lot more right?
Eco mode….sunday my wife and I took a 90 mile drive, most of it was interstate driving, with some stop and go on each end. I noticed a little more lag on acceleration, However, the mpg went up to 35! We had the ac on most of the time, (80’s here in FL), and didn’t really feel any difference than normal mode ac. The 90 miles home was just as good. Have you tried the “hold” button yet? It feels a little strange at first, but I can get used to it…
I prefer the Manual Transmission my self.

I have a 24xle and I put a k-n air filter and it gets about 34,5 running around town.
