[Happy Lunar New Year] SF Muni United Railroads Cable Car 25 SB PM-Powell/Mason Line to Washington

Cable Car 25 was built in 1890 by the Ferries & Cliff House Railway, the original owner of the Powell Street Cable Car Lines, and it was painted in the red livery that it used to wear between 1902 & 1909 back then when it was operated by United Railroads along with most of the other single ended cable cars that still runs today (Except few of them that are built by Muni from scratch). They used to run on the Sacramento/Clay Line until the 1906 Earthquake & Fire that damaged their original Powell Street counterparts and reassigned the former Sacramento/Clay single ended cable cars to the Powell Street Lines while larger double ended cable cars (Like Big 19 as an example) ran on Sacramento/Clay Line from 1908 to 1942.
To celebrate Lunar New Year, some of the cable cars are already decorated including Cable Car 25 for the Year of the Snake. I ended up riding this cable car while it was on a Pull-In trip heading Southbound from Bay & Taylor to its last stop at Washington Street near the Cable Car Museum at night.
The Powell/Mason Line opened in 1888 as part of the Ferries & Cliff House Railway under the name “Powell Street Railway Company” as shown in Cable Car 1. In 1893, the Ferries & Cliff House Railway was bought out by Market Street Railway Company and again in 1902 by United Railroads. In 1921, it was succeeded by another Market Street Railway Company until Muni took over their operations in 1942.
