1:10:42 is one of the many best scenes in the mod. Just the way your first encounter with the soldiers is done, very well done.
I think one of my favorites from this mod or my most favorite moment is probably the moment where the VOX system has completely failed entirely and shows how the facility is completely fucked up way beyond repair.

Ye. Such a cool way to show the marines are bad from the perspective of a new character unlike Blue Shift that just has a scientist saying "oh i dont think those soldiers are here to rescue us so dont trust them"

Things I loved from this mod:
-The part right after the Resonance cascade, when you are left alone in the darkness and have to find your way out the sewers. It's really creepy, more like a terror movie, very well done. Particularly the part where you fall into that tunnel with that 'thing'
-All the scenes where the Gargantua pursues you
-The redesigning of Black Mesa makes it look much more realistic
-When you get in the elevator in 45:30 . You can see how big the facility is and how fucked up things are for other survivors. It gives a terrible feel of hopelessness, but at the same time you feel relief becauase you are leaving the deeper parts of the complex
-The area that is infested by Xen flora
-The area that is infested by snarks
-The ambush where they kill the guard by mistake thinking that he was Freeman
-The Black Ops ambush where they come from the vents
-The use of barricades and turrets by the HECU
-Going back to a place you have been before and see how things have changed
And many other things
They used all the resources the original game had to their full potential. Really impressive mod
So basically the entire mod?
Here's my favorite things:
- Did something a little different and doesn't give you a weapon for a while. Almost feels more like Amnesia in the first parts of the game.
- Great sense of humor
- Did visual story telling better than Valve themselves. Love some of the visuals such as the military arriving, visions of the Combine and Borealis, the chaos and tragedy ensuing within Black Mesa.
- Comprehension of level design is unparalleled for a modder. Understood how to not only build up an encounter but the importance of introducing the player to the arena-space before the fighting starts.
- Understood setup/reward of people, places, and enemies. The Garg is the second alien seen in the game and vexxes the player throughout. Finally the player gets some pay back at the end. The tank is also seen early, seen again, then is a boss at the end of the game. The guard in the HEV is seen early and gets a humorous scene, then later joins up with you.

I love how you meet him again and he's clearly attempted to stick the controls of the elevator back on, failed, and resorted to crowbarring the vents in the ceiling, only to realize he can't climb that high.

I love how this makes you backtrack over and over, but every time the previous area gets more and more fucked. This mod is wonderful! One of the best mods i've seen in a LONG time!!!
They Hunger was another really good mod that dabbled in that. This shoved it aside as my favorite HL1 mod though!

The ominous prelude to the Resonance Cascade was great, the Portal Storms were great, and the nuclear detonation was great. And the story of how this was another "Candidate" being judged for Freeman's job with the G-Man was great. But there's issues. The timing breaks continuity. The Incident lasted over 24 hours into the next day, and the bomb was detonated in the evening of the 2nd day. In this mod it seems like only a single day passes. Also there wouldn't be a siren for the bomb as it was secretly deployed by the Black Ops, (and rearmed by G-Man)
I can accept the use of the air raid sirens for narrative purposes.

It's a mod. I play them to have a good time . So if the timing is off some, story wise, It doesn't bother me. It's not like it's an official part of the game.
The player was teleported by the Gman in the end. What If you were not teleported, but put in stasis for about 6 hours?
The whole place needed to be evacuated, right? The sirens could've been for that. They aren't exactly able to use everything precisely as intended in that situation. Plus, the sound is rather ominous for the game which lets it stand on its own.

The attention to detail is astonishing... As an old mapper myself, all I can see is "This is some REALLY good builds". The textures, the models, the sounds, the mapping, the environments. All perfect. Applaud to the creator.

Hearing someone plead for help over VOX after years of being used to it as a neutral entity with no say or worry about anything is incredibly unsettling and I love it.

The creator of this mod really outdid themselves. I could not stop watching this playthrough. The attention to detail was just flawless, the delivery and the tension throughout the playthrough just terrifying. The visual effects, the A.I. fights, the desperation in the scenery. And the ending, which was outright sad to see one of Gman's candidates given the axe, after surviving all of that?!
I would pay damn good money to see Valve treat this as canon

1:11:30 - From here on out, with the Military and all, and the scripted scenes that they're in, these were just absolutely incredible! Like so much better than anything we ever got to see in Half-Life 1 (or even in most Half-Life 1 mods). Even better than most of anything we see in Half-Life 2. This mod will be in my brain for a very long time, it deserves to be an official expansion for Half-Life 1. Not sure how that would be possible to get it to happen but I'd be a supporter of it.
1:28:48 - My favorite section of the entire game. Just so much going on, so much to see, and so many interesting scenarios to overcome in a very short period of time. Just one after the other, all different and awesome!
The amount of details in the scenario and level design is incredible! Also the jokes with the characters voices are well done... Unfortunatly i wasn't able to understand all the story because of my bad english, but for what i got, it seemed good too. Very nice work indeed.

Excellent work. Glad to see "Gus" the guy in green jumpsuit and yellow hardhat, and the worker in orange jumpsuit is included w. working AIs. I give this mod a 5 out of 5 stars. One of the best HL1 SP mods.
I love this expansion, it feels amazingly like an actual Valve-endorsed one. I feel like the only thing out of place are the cutscenes, since Valve has always made a big fuss about not taking the player’s control away.
"I refuse to go another step!". Can never get enough of those scientists. I completed Half Life in 99 when my daughter was two years old. After completing it a bunch of times I completed every mod I could find for it. I was completely thrilled when I saw this released.

Agreed. Few mods reach this level of quality. More recently, Field Intensity, which is better than Opposing Force itself, imo.
@@bbenjoe Field Intensity has very unique moments and some nice level design, but there is some jank in there and I am not talking dialogue only. But yes its also a pretty cool pseudo OPfor. Echoes on the other hand is really hand crafted HL 1 magic. Signal lost also seems pretty unique once it fully finished.

One thing I really love in this mod is the Barnacles, they can eat every creature that trapped by their tongue, like Half Life 2, it's awensome for me

I love the elevator sequence at the start of LIBERATION. a simple theme of ascension, viewing all of the survivors being overrun, literally rising above it, and seeing Gman observing your progress.

Well, that was weird. And amazing) So much detail in npc's behaviour, and that nuke in the end - stunning. The hgrunts are a little bit stupid here though, and the Universals do not use any FTL units by the way.

This guy had it far worse than Freeman ever did, bar none.
Also, goes without saying: a true work of art. Overlooked detail: 1:02:03, that badass female assassin took three alien grunts down with her before going down.
Sadly he didn't know a hidden easter egg from the start wherein he must follow the man frantically running and checking some boxes. He will lead the player back from his car and there there's a door that will show you a beautiful easter egg ;)
