Ranni is the daughter of Radagon and Rennala. Rennala comes from an outside source. As well as Maliketh. They are separate from the golden order. Being an Empyrean doesnt necessarily mean being a descendent of Marika/Radagon, and their nature of existence, specifically, is unique. Mohg and Morgott were also Empyreans. There are outer wills playing bigger parts in the sources of all of these aspects. Miquella is without a doubt the main player in the current story as we know it. But the greater will stretches way farther than the lands between and it’s physical reality
Godwyn and Ranni’s current states are a duality, just like Marika and Radagon. Godwyn’s lineage possessed rot, and Rennala’s possessed magic from the stars. The physical and spiritual duality is the most important detail to the story, and the dream state Miquella is currently in. The tarnished are only lumped together because they’re the offspring of Godwyn and posses rot, though the physical body is the vehicle for the greater will (ie, Ranni needing puppets to enforce her will). What exactly gives any tarnished the potential to be an Empyrean? Quite the metaphor for all religions in real life, which makes me contemplate OUR greater will. Awesome video. Thank you!
I 100% buy this and I believe that the vow that Miquella refers to is the Night of Black Knives. I believe that Godwyn was to be Elden Lord of the next age marrying an Empyrian child of Marika. But Marika wanted to rule eternally and like Gwynn wanted to forestall the next age at all cost. So in desperation I believe she recruited Numen women with close ties to her to kill her own son but was betrayed and her son was denied for his soul to be returned to the Erdtree. The Black Knife Assassins are all Numen women with close ties to Marika. But the people from her past are wiped out in Shamen village. And those who are “numinous” (look it up) would include the Demi Gods more specifically the Empyrians that are all women except for Miquella who’s half. With exceptions for Tiche and Alecto I think the women who killed Godwyn were the Empyrians who did not want to marry him. Miquella wanted Radahn, Malenia was enchanted by Miquella, and Ranni had other plans.
Craziest theory I’ve heard was that the player is Miquella reborn and Ranni was in cahoots with him. That and that Godwyn and Marika had an affair too.
One thing I want to mention you might be wrong on. Being empyrean means having a womb to be able to birth a new lineage. There were only 3 empyreans as they were the only female ones. Of course they need to also be offspring of Marika (a god).
I definitely could have articulated that better perhaps Im also missing your point...Lemme get this straight, so the main consort would need to be born of marika with a womb, and not radagon? this gets so convoluted XD@@dmassou7699
Marika and Radagon are the same person. All I meant to say is that to be an empyrean, you need to have a womb. Following this logic, there are only 3 empyreans. All other children birthed from Marika/Radagon and Godfrey cannot be empyreans. The reason you use to define an empyrean is incorrect thats all. The only requirement beside having marika as a mother is being a woman.
Wow, this was really interesting. I love seeing how the Lore and its connection to world history. Never heard heard of this before, so down the rabbit hole on the history of Japanese royalty haha
1. 0:42 Demon King Ganondorf reference? No… wait… TOTK STOLE THAT! That was the extra year of polish?! 2. A crown warranted with strength? Good thing it’s not warranted with infinite power… Our friendly-neighborhood egg, Magolor, can tell us a tale about a “Tree Crown Without A Ruler…” (so many biblical references in the final boss alone… more specifically, the Original Sin…) 3. Speaking of an off-topic subject… I just happen to notice that Francisca (Star Allies) shockingly resembles Nayru’s 2D sprite model in the Oracle series. Coincidence? Uh… maybe. Although, Goddess Nayru is also associated with ice just as much as water… STILL A COINCIDENCE?!? 4. Back to the subject, it is believed (myth overseas and belief in Japan) that all of the emperors of Japan were descendants of the Sun Goddess (or Kami if appropriately spoken), Amaterasu. Each Emperor was given the title of “divine ancestor.” Since its tradition, no emperor was to be seen or heard by the common folk. Very few have, but the most recent memory where everyone in Japan heard an emperor’s voice for the first time was in 1945 by Hirohito, when the Second World War was coming to its end. Since then, many traditions have either altered or replaced. (If I misread something, my apologies. I need to do a more thorough search on history.) 5. Have you seen Last Samurai? Great film! 6. I’ve long strayed away from the Game Awards since 2019. (the one which Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (another From Software game) won overall) Even back then, I came to the realization that it’s not an award ceremony. IT’S THE GAME EQUIVALENT OF THE OSCARS!!! (Josef Fares meme!) Overall, it’s nothing more but a drag. I haven’t watched them since, but I think most of us can agree that the 2020 awards were rigged. (Ghost of Tsushima should’ve won that one!… even if it did win Player’s Voice!…)
I like to get to my points to keep the information fresh, the point just came together very easily and i figured by presenting it we could all run wild with it.
There's a few typos littered throughout-- i was rushing before the Game Awards XD
"Rannala" instead of Rennala, "Millenia" instead of Malenia, etc.
The guy who theorized Ranni marrying Godwyn belongs to TarnishedArcheologist I believe.
ah damn shoulda known
Nailed it.
Lore with in a game does not belong to anyone ...
There is no lore/ evidence of a marriage between Ranni and Godwyn. Thats why I said he “theorized”.
Yo... this is the only theory that makes Empyreans make sense. Major props for the research and the presentation.
thanks homie! I didn't think any of the explanations so far did it for me
when i found this i knew i was onto something.

Godwyn and Marika having an affair...now thats one i havent heard but...wow...can explain a ton more... sheesh
are you gonna stream the game awards? i’m soooo excited for the dlc
thats a good idea! i should. just talked to charlie about it. have to figure out my streamkey and all that
@@MoxieWatts let's goooo!! i'll be there

Really cool video! Thanks for the shout as well🙏
excited to see what you can think up with this concept >:)
Okay I thought I was crazy but this literally is not in my subscriptions box at all
i dunno its so weird that youtube isnt sending out notifications...
Marika told the Tarnished when she exiled them to once brandish the Elden Ring, Godwyn shouldve never have it from Marikas point of view.
Ah! you got me there...so i guess it woulda belonged to ranni if they were intended...thoughts?
This really puts things into perspective.
i dunno i found this tidbit and thought it was so fascinating ^_^
Ah, Rani was to merry Godwyn, now that made sense what she did.
its a big IF, but if its true it puts a whole lot into perspective.
This is a really interesting observation!
thanks! I heard that story while i was studying jp lore and i was like OH!!
had to share XD

Perhaps Miquella has his female form, like saint Trina? I think this might have been my line of thinking i didn't quite articulate.
@@MoxieWatts Correct. The only 3 empyreans are Ranni, Malenia, and Miquella.
