Same. A few years ago I was bitter and angry at everyone, myself included. I was planning my suicide and cut off connection with my son's mother. Two years later and our son is born. I truly never saw myself making it this far in life, let alone having a kid. Ive never been happier in my whole life and its because of him and his mother. Push on through.
As a new dad to a little girl, it really hit hard. I never thought I'd be here long enough to get married, let alone have kids. I struggle not to cry every time I hold her because she's a reminder that things did get better after I decided not to give up.

This made me cry. A lot. ❤. When I first found tøp I was 14 I'm now 22. In college studying to be a pediatric psych nurse. Cause i wanna be that person for someone. To let them know they have someone in there corner. I never did growing up. I slowly am building that as an adult. And ik how hard it is to struggle with your own head especially when its by yourself and everyone including your own blood could care less.
Anyways my point is. Im so glad an surprised im here. As a kid i was so far gone. I didn't know i would make it cause i had literally no one. Tøp was that for me. That "person" to say hey your alive and youll be okay..
Now im no where near as mentally down there as i was. Sure my ocd and bipolar kick my butt. But i fight back and keep pushing through. Because ik thats something my younger self would be proud of

I am 54 and feel like I have grown up with this band. I lost my wife 7 years ago and TOP has helped me through some dark times. So thankful my now 20 year old daughter who is getting married this year introduced me. Thank you Tyler and Josh...you could be my sons you are my brothers...you have been great friends. This band has brought me so much closer to my 11 year old daughter. I had her at age 39. So it's been hard to share anything as she discovers what she likes. She likes old 90s and 2000s movies and alot of music from my youth. But that was about it when in came to shared interests between a gen x and alpha. She has always been a sensitive soul and even asked for counseling at age six, so I guess we share a deep understanding of how effed up the world is. I hate it. I've tried everything to protect her innocence. But in 2024 the kids have access to just too much information, no matter how much you try to censor it. They hit big when she was born. I loved their radio hits but didn't really get into them till 2018 when I first heard Car Radio. The songs, videos, lore. I just jumped in with both feet and binged everything for 2 years solid. She is so perceptive that even at age 6 she zoned onto the lyrics and sound. Once I explained about Dema and the Bishops, it was O/V. I can honestly admit that the only source that's given me, my daughter and our relationship more peace and strength has been Jesus Christ himself. I'm usually not a fan girl, but Tyler & Josh have earned my respect and admiration.

I’ve been struggling with depression and borderline personality disorder for at least ten years and this band has always accompanied me through this long and difficult journey. I love every single one of their songs but now that I’ve been taking antidepressants, going to therapy and working so hard to be happy for almost two years now, this song has become my new hymn. It’s crazy how your life can change from literally wanting to die to enjoying life every single day, so if you’re struggling too I can assure you that it gets better, and looking for help is always the best option. I have struggled with BPD as well. It is amazing how once you make the decision to “push on through” and invest in learning and using skills each day, it suddenly is possible to start experiencing joy among the pain. It can still be crushingly agonizing and difficult, things still feel hard. But there’s hope and a sense of building mastery once you learn how to effectively cope and make a life worth living. I’m so happy to hear that you are doing that and you have pushed on through.

In April I turned 53. My girls just turned 21 and 18 respectively. I used to be in a hurry to get where I was going. Now everyone else is in a hurry to get where they are going. I really love how this song in the album comes right after Snapback. In Snapback, Tyler talks about how frustrating and upsetting it is when you fall back into harmful habits/mindsets and grieving the loss of all your progress. Then on the very next song of the album, Oldies Station, he reminds himself/us to keep pushing, to start your streak again (even though its going to break later) and that eventually you make peace again and appreciate the small mundane momemts of happiness in life. Even if you keep backsliding, the important thing is to keep pushing forward. So comforting.

As we grow, new responsibilities force us to adapt to different habits, and our track record of surviving all those previous bad times, back when we had so much less wisdom and experience under our belts, is a quiet encouragement that we'll "push on through" this time and whatever else happens in our lives.
Until one day you decide not to, I like your interpretation of the song though and actually made it a better listen.

Keep the battle, keep going, it’s hard but the battle needs to continue, it’s a cycle that will keep repeating itself forever but we can push through. All of the lore and the stories inside of it are a cycle and keep repeating but with different metaphors because that’s the point: it will always keep repeating, it’s an every day battle that you can’t just “decide not to”. 0:56 as someone who struggled with self harm, I interpreted this lyric as “start a streak” meaning staying clean “you’re bound to break when darkness rolls on you” until something that triggers you and you relapse “push on through” it’s okay to relapse, it’s not your fault and you shouldn’t be ashamed because recovery takes time and it’s not just a strait pathway. Recovery means relapsing sometimes and that’s okay.

Bro this album is resonating with me so much. Backslide, SnapBack, and this song. I’m so scared of growing older and gaining all these new responsibilities and expectations, and I feel like my life is slowly passing by. This song helps a lot with that fear
Yeah I'm so glad the guys are continuing to be so supportive about growing older. It feels like popular culture is so negative about getting older in general (Just turned 30 and the number of comments like "Well its all downhill from here" have gotten really old. 30 is not even old!!). They've addressed this before, but even when we have moments where life seems overwhelming, we just need to keep moving forward. There are so many good things in life ahead too.
Responsibilities can feel heavy, but when you take them up and work to succeed in them, your confidence and self-esteem grows. Sure, it is possible to take on too much, but you will never know if you don't try. And I guarantee you life will not pass you by if you put yourself out there, and be an active participant in it. It is scary at first, but pays off in the long run.

Man, cherish this time right now. 30 is a great age! You've gained some wisdom and probably are only going to gain more.
Just please slow down in your life and enjoy every moment. It will go by faster and faster, so be glad you think it's going by slowly.
Be very thankful if you find yourself energetic and strong right now because often, every 5 or 10 years that go by leads to a new physical problem or circumstance that slows you down just a little bit.
And don't put so much importance on material things. If you've got someone to love and especially if you end up having a family with children, you are really going to be very blessed.
Growing old and not having anyone to share life with or not having kids to watch grow around you, even if they're not your own, is a difficult thing.
If you just have a good friend or a sibling that has kids, try to spend as much time with them as you can. They will likely remember all of that, and you will, too. You can find joy & laughter watching them grow even if they're not yours.

This is exactly how I descibed it too! It's lovely
So one of the biggest things I've noticed about positive reviews on this song is how it largely appeals to the "older" clikkies, it is called oldies station, so it definitely makes sense. I'm a teenager and I guess I interpret some lyrics differently than others, and don't see it exclusively for older people. I acctually heavily correlate this song with my fear of getting older, less of how my favorite song is on the oldies station, but how someday all of the current popular songs will be the oldies station.
The night before my sixteenth birthday, I had a pretty bad breakdown alone in my room. I was terrified of entering this weird limbo between being a kid and adult, terrified of losing all of the happiness I have gained throughout the last year, just terrified in general. At exactly 11 :55pm I had the first genuine suicidal thought I have had in almost a year (a streak I was bound to break), I thought, if I die now I will never turn 16, ill never have to do it, ill never have to grow up. I don't know what made me turn specifically oldies station in that moment, probably God, but I did, I had only listened to it once or twice at this point, and I didn't totally pay attention on either listen, so I have no clue why thats the Clancy song I chose at that point. God just chose it for me. Oldies Station walked me straight through midnight, I listened probably 20 times before falling asleep. The words "push on through" will now be the words I live by.

this came at the right time, I've been struggling these past few years feeling lost and thinking I shouldn't even try anymore. Was planning to just give up, maybe at the end of the month or so, but after randomly finding this song at 4 am I think I'll give it another try and "push on through" just for a while longer and see where it takes me. The ups and downs trend upward. This is why older people are, in my experience happier and more cheerful. It annoyed me when I was young, now I know why. Life is just better now. I’m early 40’s btw.

i can already tell that deapite being my absolute favourite on this album, oldies station might remain an underrated one. its softer. heartfelt. but i have so much love in my heart when i listen to this song. Tyler's always been about telling us to push on through. the more earnest, meaningful songs always seem to be my favourite - it was the same way with Redecorate on SAI (an album i also think is majorly underrated).

Clancy coming out on the day of my prom/graduation feels like a full circle moment. This band has been with me through the worst of it, Trench came out a year before I started what is essentially highschool in my country, and it was coincidentally one of the worst years of my life. My grandpa had just died, but their music kept me pushing forward. Legend coming out mere months after his death was... something, that's for sure.
And now that I've grown, that I've learned more about the world and life(Not that I don't have much more to learn, but I definetly know more than I did in 2018).... Songs like Oldies station and Next semester are coming out. Right as I graduate and officially move past the darkest years of my life up to this point.
(It's been getting better since the end of 2022, but the fact I made it to graduation just solidified to me that I've made it past the things I thought would end me)
This makes me feel nostalgic for the future

@idekaaaIC so it's been like a whole thing and FPE has popped up in a lot of the music videos standing for a lot of different meaningless things but the main two are The Few, The Proud and The Emotional, and Failed Perimeter Escape which as you probably know are badges the bishops make anyone wear if they tried to escape Dema. FPE is like a sorta bat signal for the banditos to recognize each other as people who are trying to fight. (sorry for the info dump but I love this lore)

I love this lol
Didn’t think I would get emotional over this but I did. The fact that this is a song Tyler wrote to us saying he was checking in and we deserved to know how he was doing really adds to it. I feel like this shows his struggle in the beginning and making things harder for himself and when the camera fell and it started to show the behind the scenes it showed how he is now better and happier. I really felt that in myself and how far I have come since I started listening to TØP.
This song makes me think of my parents and their experience raising two kids. All the set backs, sacrificing things they loved to support their children. Learning to trust each other through hard times. Being there for all my school performances. I don't really connect with a lot of their lyrics, I just think they make great music, but this song hit in an unexpected way. Loving this record.

now that theres been a little more time since the release and the shock of the higher energy songs off the record are dying down i can safely say this song kinda brings me to tears its slowly becoming one of my favorites
