I really don't get that people that cries saying everything is worst when obviously is not, trust me, I saw how things were when I studied american history for my citizenship exam. And definitely it has progressed a lot if we compare with my country or other countries. But I won't get there. And also the News Media here that so often is propagated to the left and outwardly vilifies dissent...the division anger and the hunt....just like Albania when he grew up). He knows alot of history and learned about america, like you, for his citizenship...he probably knows more than most americans! I was glad to come across your post and to hear the proof that things have changed here immensely over the decades and that living here is so much better than many many countries where citizens do not have the freedoms and rights built into the law of this land. Speaking as a person who was born in the 60's, we have made HUGE amounts of progress, just mind-blowing amounts, in many areas! If someone had told me in the 80's that gay marriage would not only be the law of the land but that people would generally support it, I would not have believed them. The wide-spread acceptance of mixed race couples and their children is also a miracle. We still have a long way to go but we have come very far from where we were when I was a kid.
"If you even suggested a show about 6 people, all of whom were straight and white, the network would laugh you out of the room" -- is that a good thing? Do you really need non-straight and/or non-white characters in EVERY show?
it's kinda weird, otherwise. Who exists in the world completely surrounded by people who are only straight and white? It would have to be a show about a tiny rural conservative town and even most of those towns wouldn't meet those requirements.

That's how it should be. Self interest at work. Ayn Rand's entire point. You don't like black people but they are paying customers and you like making money so you seve them and a while later you realize you were a fool to be prejudiced in the past. Self interest made you a better person and served people that needed stuff from you as well.
Indeed. Acknowledging progress is just as important as calling out a lack thereof. There's a reason self help groups have multi step plans instead of just asking "have you done it already?" We need our victories no matter if they’re big or small. The occasional pat on the back is what keeps us going.
It's like I've said for many years already: It's not that things are getting worse, it's moreso that technology is allowing us to see all the examples of warped humanity more than before. Just because we see it and hear it more doesn't equate to it being worse than before. Before all the tech we had today, we only saw what was directly around us. Use tech to shine a light on the darkness and continue to make progress, but don't conflate it with us going backwards.
This video is so important for Dems to hear if they want to retain any of the base that they lost and start winning elections by wide margins. The fact that both Trump elections were as close as they were really demonstrates the failures of the party.
Their base was gone when bull clinton signed nafta. Obama saved the dems by being the first black president, and Biden only got elected because he wasn’t trump. As long as trump doesn’t run again the dems are going to lose everything next cycle.
And sometimes he misses really bad. That entire Kevin Hart segment was sad to watch. We all knew what Kevin was saying, but people do what Bill did in this clip all the time.
I've been saying this for years, but Bill said it better than me. To think that some feminists consider the 21st century worse to women than any other period in history is mind-blowing. How ignorant must a person be to say something like that??
I'm a White guy in my 70s. When I was in elementary school in Alabama, there were "white" and "colored" drinking fountains. The Black kids swam in the school pool only on Thurs and Fri (the pool was drained and re-filled over the weekend). When we'd get on the school bus, the driver would say "black to the back". At the time, I was a little kid and none of this seemed wrong. But my Mom (White) explained that it was and that it would change. My Father, a jet fighter pilot, flew B-17s in Europe during WWII. He said the best fighter support they had were the Red Tails--the all-Black Tuskegee Airmen flying the new P-51. But when the war was over, most of these guys who wanted to stay in the Air Force were taken off flying status. And once back in the States, many couldn't eat at the same lunch counter as White folks. My Father told me that this was wrong, and that it would change. The change came about during my lifetime. So come on, progressives, get some perspective.
Love the uneasy laughter from the audience when Bill starts his speech. Most of the braying seals who make up his studio audience are the exact type of Libs he's referring to.

I've often thought younger generations/young adults that are screaming about how terrible America is need to take a walk down the museum in DC- *The Price of Freedom: Americans at War* . It's very humbling. Makes you appreciate how many soldiers died to keep us free. Gives you a good reminder how lucky we are to not have lived during such a time.
We are not oppressed because there isn't a gender-neutral section at Wal-Mart.
>How many soldiers died to keep us free.
Very very few compared to most other countries.
I’d rather be speaking German
This wasn't even funny...
This was just awesome
@@SD-nn3zu sad to see what people like you did to the term „progressive“
His crowd clapping like seals… Dude, he’s talking about you.
They're actually all his staff on the show. The public is still not allowed into the studio until next week. They probably feel they don't have a choice.
You're misinformed about Liberals, especially Liberals that watch Maher. He's been saying the same stuff for years and years. He's not actually talking about his audience because his audience agrees with him.
They will actually clap on command no matter what he says. It's amazing. He can say how horrible Biden is and they will cheer, he can say how amazing he is, and they will cheer.
@THEODORE NICKLAS Progressives are just extreme Democrats.
@@Acujeremy Lately, it seems that way.
He always amazes me with his meticulous, thoughtful insight of our society. When I see injustice I always think if I'd preferred to live in the 1600', where you had no rights and were unable to defend yourself if you were not a Lord. Indeed we came a long way and we're not even close to the ideal place, but it's beneficial to see the progress we made. Bravo again!
I watch this clip again and again. So much wisdom.

What part of any of this is incorrect?
Will he say the same about anti semitism?
You know what ?. What's wrong is Bill's HYPOCRISY . HE HELPED CREATE THIS ATMOSPHERE . Now he wants to be on the right side of the change that is about to happen when the DEMOCRATS are kick to the curb in2024.

A rational reasonable democrat on TV. Haven’t seen that since Jon Stewart. Thank you for pointing out the errors in woke ideology

I suspect Pride is ‘celebrated’ by large companies because it gets the 💵
That's how it should be. Self interest at work. Ayn Rand's entire point. You don't like black people but they are paying customers and you like making money so you seve them and a while later you realize you were a fool to be prejudiced in the past. Self interest made you a better person and served people that needed stuff from you as well.
Look up how many of those multinational companies celebrate LGBT in Saudi Arabia, China and Russia.
It's zero but feel free to check.
Absolutely
You think??
Yes, but they pander to the group because they know that there will be no blowback from most customers.
Indeed. Acknowledging progress is just as important as calling out a lack thereof. There's a reason self help groups have multi step plans instead of just asking "have you done it already?" We need our victories no matter if they’re big or small. The occasional pat on the back is what keeps us going.
Progress from fiction?
It's like I've said for many years already: It's not that things are getting worse, it's moreso that technology is allowing us to see all the examples of warped humanity more than before. Just because we see it and hear it more doesn't equate to it being worse than before. Before all the tech we had today, we only saw what was directly around us. Use tech to shine a light on the darkness and continue to make progress, but don't conflate it with us going backwards.
Interesting point. Very true.
You have an excellent point.
good point.
Wrong and here is why.....
It has an effect on our Public Policies ! People are also being murdered and properties burned.... so ...no ...wrong
More easy to spread lies and propaganda now
This video is so important for Dems to hear if they want to retain any of the base that they lost and start winning elections by wide margins.
@@A_Derpy_NINJA it’s going to be Donald Trump Jr getting the nomination. i hope he doesn’t win the election.
So bring back Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben...then they could win...by large margins...simplistic.

The 2020 election was not close.
Sometimes Bill hits one of the park.
He’s been on a good streak lately this year. This one was damn good though.
check out his talk on china, excellent points about why their society is advancing and the US is in decline
And sometimes he misses really bad. That entire Kevin Hart segment was sad to watch. We all knew what Kevin was saying, but people do what Bill did in this clip all the time.
I'm sure you think so. Coming from a rich white man that's have NEVER had the experience.
I've been saying this for years, but Bill said it better than me. To think that some feminists consider the 21st century worse to women than any other period in history is mind-blowing. How ignorant must a person be to say something like that??
Bill Maher is one sane mind. Thank you for speaking it, Bill.
This was so eloquent I could cry.
@Red Faux Maybe you should get a life for getting so upset over a borderline cringy comment.
Honestly!

Most of the braying seals who make up his studio audience are the exact type of Libs he's referring to.
was thinking the same thing lol, only time the audience erupted in cheers is when he took a jab at white racists from the past

I can’t believe I’m apart of this generation that clearly doesn’t live in reality, but some twisted fantasy. It has allot to do with me being a first generation american born to immigrant parents. My parents escaped poverty and civil war to come here for a better future for their children. The horrific living conditions they escaped helped me understand how lucky i am to be a black woman born in American at this time. The audacity of this generation to consider themselves oppressed and victims simply based on their race or gender is appalling. They should try being a woman in a 3rd world or muslim country so they can see what real suffering and inequality looks like.

@@DJWeiWei I’m not going to go into the struggle olympic ring with you and compare whether Jim crow was better than the civil war my family escaped. Both were horrific. The point I’m making is that allot of Americans today don’t even know what true inequality means. They’re fighting for equality of outcomes, when we should be fighting for equality of opportunity. We have made allot of progress in that respect and can keep moving toward that except allot of people actually believe they’re too oppressed to even bother trying. They see racism and oppression lurking in every corner. Its sad to watch.

I'm from UK, only just come across Bill Maher. Brilliant stuff, love it. Sensible centrism, such as is becoming increasingly difficult to find.
That’s what the Center and the Right are ultimately there for: to moderate the Left and to make their conception of progress more sensible. Only then is their progress accepted, and a new status quo is established.
All are slaves to the Left; we are their instruments during peacetime. During wartime, the Center and the Right protect the hearth and home while the Left cowers.
Stop mentioning millenials! We are a bunch of 30s (turning 40), married, with children, haven't seen the inside of a college in over a decade. I haven't heard the term culture appropriation until I was a grown man.
