The best part is that laugh, Sorin still does it every time a dodgy repair works, keep the fun Sorin, well done.
I want to thank you very much for your useful and great tips. You are dedicated to helping people who has passion for electronics and specially the beginners.....Very good job. Thanks a lot.
The best greeting in every video "Hello" ,i like you man how you explain things sincerely without judging your community!
Big respect!
8:50 - I absolutely agree. The same goes for the cars, cheap plastic, single chains instead of double chains ( that, btw, were famous in Mercedes going above 1 mln Km without any issues)... we are literally surrounded from cheap garbage, but we are pretending to be "better"... Sad times, indeed.
Besides they dont lower the prices ,even they rise the prices of phones on every new model ,they add 100$ on every new model since 2 years ,there isnt good thing in it for customers we are like chicken which pull a feather everytime.
Yeah. Consume, consume, consume. And Greta Thunberg and the Klimate Kidz have nothing to say about it...for some reason.
Do you know what my phone is? Zte l5 blade. It's 3 years old 45 euros phone. I surely have money to buy something more expensive, but I don't need it. For what I need this phone is doing just fine.
@@davianceable It's sad alright, and low quality products are bad for the environment. Where does all the extra profit go in the manufacturing companies??
The electrical is also gettin cheaper and easier to break. The wires their using now are so frikin thin and they expect it to carry wicked amps lol. No wonder connectors are melting together all, over the place on newer cars. Especially the high end ones.their making their cars throw away after 5 years it seems like. I worked on a newer Denali and the heated seats were burning, the switches were melted and broken, the wires in the steering column were pulled out of the bulkhead connector because they were too frikin cheap to give an extra inch of wire ffs. It’s getting brutal. And the worst thing is is that the customers blame the techs for the dealerships shitty engineering.
Re-seating the RAM fixed a no-display issue on my Packard Bell EasyNote M2290. Thanks!
Sorin, i still use my old acer aspire 5315 from 2007, it is old but it has never failed.
I have replaced the heatsink compound and clean the heatsinks/fan out regular.
A good old beast lol.
What are your CPU and GPU temps on idle and under heavy load ?
acer for me only last 2years, housing hinge lcd
How do spot where exactly the graphic chip is ? I have opened up my Packard bell easynote lm81 and I can't seem to find it
Sorin Ji, you are the master of electronics...
My two Dell Inspirons are about 12 years old now. Occasional new battery or keyboard - no other problems. I think I'll keep them running! I do have an external fan running cold air underneath them.
Hi sorin, thankyou for your useful and interesting video. Keep it up, please upload more like this video
thank u very much!!! u are doctor.. i fix my lap top, with that magic!!
You heated the vga chip on the motherboard?
Informative as always! Thanks for sharing!
Sorin you are a legend man!...I like the way you are, straight to the point...Keep up the great work...
I have exactly the same issue on a lenovo G505...Im a begginer, checked the voltage and im getting the 19V to the screen...No shorts, no visible damage...I guess ill have to try your "magic trick" as soon as my hot air station arrives...Ill let you know how it went...hehe...Greetings from Portugal :)
Dodgey is the new professional way lmfao. Great job as always Sorin.
Sorin's graphic's chip heat massage.
Great vid
Very good video,thank you.
Like the video its again a nice working laptop 💻
Sorin, did you ever work on a Panasonic Toughbook? I love the things - I've only got seven of them but I know people with dozens. They're addictive. I've modified some, had occasional driver issues but never an actual failure. MIL-STD 810G. Lots of screws.
They just grow old gracefully, like us :)
David McNiven
You only have seven, that's disgusting lol :-D
If you find something really good, it makes sense to have more than one :-D.
Hahaaa at 1:55 you camera flickered and I though the screen came back on.
Yep, I agree too. I own a PC that I put together in 2013, it's a K series i7 Ivy Bridge processor (OC 4.2GHz on all cores), with AsRock Z77 Extreme6/TB4 motherboard, 16GB of HyperX DDR3 RAM (2.4GHz), 500W Active PFC power supply and Antec case. At that time the total cost of the system was less then 700 euro. Put it against a 700 euro system put together today and you will not be able to beat it's performance under usual workloads (synthetic tests are useless, the responsiveness of the system do to CL11 on 2.4Ghz it's "unbeatable" by any DDR4 memory from this price-range).
Why did you remove the screen? Don't get me wrong it was interesting to watch you dismantle everything but as the screen left view I can't help but wonder if the same screen came back & then, voila all fixed! Or new screen fitted, just wondering?
Hello Sorin!1!! Come to Besiktas
Hi do you know where sir sorion is working
@@SajjadAli-lr2nh no sorry but if you need help go discord group...
Thanks dear
Don't give up :)
@@MindYourBusiness1970 I'm on duty!!! :)
Packard Hell you main. Bad laptops. Always problems.
Always use your laptop over a table and clean the radiator.
I like it now I'll watch It later :)
Well having the same prb with lj61 pb even the professional can't fix this problem though gonna try this method by my own but I won't think I will be able to assemble it back
i have the same thing right in front of me.. have tried your formula and is not displaying but turning on
great job
petrol petrol petrol petrol petrol. Im usin a toshiba made in 2008 crazy but still is working
Been using Toshiba's since 2007... Love them! That original one still works, I used it yesterday to clone a HDD!
@@robertcartier5088 as me that was the only change which i made in my laptop, changing the HDD for a SSD is a great update.
what do you think about converting "DIS to UMA" Mr sorin??
good point
We live in the Light bulb Conspiracy on youtube is a very good movie about this. 😎
The Lightbulb Conspiracy - Planned Obsolescence
What is your opinion? Reflow with flux under the chip or dry heating the other side like this video?
Please clean the fan element, and change the cooling paste. The fan gets filled with dust and cat and dog hair. The quick one is to use compresed air
My ASUS X93s is still running after 8 years and the dedicated GPU (nvidia gt 540m) is running hot regularly when under full load (96°C peaks, idle 50°C). I guess that wouldn't be possible in the laptops you can get nowadays ?! Never been repaired, only got a SSD upgrade. 30s boot time. What else do you wish for? So, get an older used laptop and upgrade it. It may last longer than a new one. Sad truth. Don't forget to renew the thermal paste (and cooling pads if applicable) and clean out the fan!
I would advise a customer of this Packard Bell to buy a cooling pad with a fan to place under the laptop.
Agree, dual core is faster than current laptop.
Got the same problem but when i opened the laptop i saw a burnt ic at the left top corner getting to the charging system area.. Can it be the reason why it's not because that ic is damaged?
I mean can it be that the ic is damaged that's y there's no display?
Hi Sorin, first Reflow arround 400~ for how many minutes??? Thanks
the best product
I'm surprised that no magic flux was used in this repair
What pins do you short to start the laptop ?
same pins attached to the power button, look at power button cable and short those two .
Romaine-Ricardo Francis some cables/connectors have more pins because the ribbon may also serve the lights so if you use a multimeter some are 3.3v some are 5v...maybe other variations of power button voltages but you short one to a ground pin
Why didn't you heat the graphic chip on the face of the chip?
I have an older Compaq laptop with same graphic issue.
Thanks for the lesson.
It's already being held in position by the heatsink ,so when he's applying heat the solder melts and the chip is pushed back to position by the heatsink which is fixed to the motherboard by the screws he shows that in the video
@@FerdAboubakrOnline
Okay, thank you. I'll try that with my old Compaq.
All the best
What watch are you wearing, it's cool I like it.
i like it
very good i do the same :)
. yes you r right sir i have a dell i5 laptop which is slower than hp 3500 i3 which i use now . the newer the slower.
Chip is only 10-15€. I think is worth to change it. Especially because you can't give warranty. From the customer perspective he is paying for something that can fail tomorrow. Just my opinion
10-15€ but used, these aren't new on this days, you buy a used chip, most of the chips from aliexpress are used, this is a good method from Sorin, 3 years with a reflow is flawless.
@@MyFriendTheForest yeah have to be used because chip producers won't sell chips to regular people and they won't even produce old chips.
Where can I find the chip ??...my maternal uncle gifted this pb laptop and having the same issue even went to repair shops but they couldn't fix it plus there is no service centre in India ..any suggestions highly appreciated thanks
I've got an old HP Presario V6500 with a blank screen but works fine with an external monitor. Could it still be the graphics chip at fault?
no probably you have a screen cable issue or screen supply issue on the motherboard. whatever it is it's just better than a gpu fault and the fix would be more reliable.
@@rezakianpour9668 My guess is it's a problem with the screen inverter.
@@geoffhalsey2184 check if 19v is present on the screen pcb and also check if BK enable and DIM signal is available
i have acer e5 411 series when i press the power button i a short time or sudden press, my laptop will turn on but the display nothing and the machine turning off and on, but when i press the power button in long press the screen will appear but it will stock in startup window. how to fix it any idea.

Unplug the screen and plug back in first lol.
its friday, this method always work with laptops, wonder why this wont work on ps4 apu
MrDinakdakan too much copper for the ground planes apparently, need a rework station or bottom heater at least to give it enough heat to get solder melting
I have a laptop HP dv5 and still kicking... 9years old
What type of microscope do you use?
i want to buy one like yours., help me if you can
There Is an old video "my tools" if you chose a video from 3 months ago have a look on links in description
his microscope and hot air cost an arm and a leg
The chip probably costs 10€ but you have all the work of changing it
Short to Ground if you can find it and also trust the supply is a new unused working chip
@@Infiniti25 yeah and i want to know where are those chips coming from ? Nvidia and AMD and other suppliers won't sell their products to regular people they sell them to companies
graphic chips are always expensive, more like 30-100 dollars depending of the model
Today it's only the money that counts. Big rich people just think of money. And worse, people don't do nothing, they still buy lol. The world today is corrupted.
Seems counter intuitive. I expect chips to fail when they overheat but that brought this chip back to life...anyone understand how?
reflowing solder balls, when they overheat the solder can melt and chips can move away from the board or stuff like that
@@mohsentabouna6401 seems reasonable and explains why he did it on the underside of the chip, thanks!
I cant even look when they are taking my phone apart noty laptop😣
My fan spins for about 5 seconds and suddenly stops
That Laptop been through the Wars...lol....Remove the GPU and just use Intel Graphics??...
weerobot core2duo laptops didn't have a graphics core on the CPU, only from Core i series and initially not on every series. Unsure when Amd stuff had graphics cores in the CPU but it was before Intel I think because AMD bought ATI and that meant they could 😎
@@Infiniti25 Wow Ok Thanks...!
I'm late 14.47 min
Thats poor design and faulty rate of amd ,ppl saying amd is cheap yes it is but for a reason there is several problem with all amd's product models ,mostly gpu but sometimes cpu too ,it is managable but only if you know how to fix it ,means you have to know couple of tricks and basics ,most ppl lack of these ,I use amd, cost making me forget everything ,but if ı had a mission critical job ,I would not.
