Would you believe me if I told you that somewhere in the mountains of Turkey, there's a small village called Kuskoy where ALL of its residents can speak a language that is entirely made up of WHISTLES? And every single word in the Turkish language can be translated into these unique sounds?
I recently visited Kuskoy and was completely blown away by how cool and unique this vernacular is! You really have to hear it to believe it.
As the locals told me, this whistle language was invented around 500 years ago by local farmers, who needed to communicate with their peers over the steep hills... Amazingly, the whistles can be heard up to 3 kilometers away!!

The Canary Islands also has their own whistling language. Silbo Gomero on La Gomera. It’s used for the same reason they use it, to communicate across long distances and rugged cliffs. I know about it because I’m of Canarian descent. My great grandma is from there
That´s true
I was looking for the Canarias comment
I see you everywhere
So if you meet the young guy in the video, can you communicate with him in english?
The Spanish stole the idea from Turkish people.
Aaah man, you got to love Turkey. The country has everything 😍
Turkey is amazing 😍

Same! We’d have issues if we lived there!
This is absolutely beautiful. For some reason this gives a lil tickle on my heart strings because my mother that passed away years ago would always call us home from playing at the park blockes away from our house! This makes me want to try harder to learn how to whistle like she did because of this beautiful culture you've shown us. Thank you so much!
It feels amazing watching you discovering and enjoying every part of my country and showing them to the world! You have such a good heart.

@@kaiokenx20_ No, Sela is when dead people's cenaze namazı (i think) is called.
Amazing, and great they're trying to keep it alive, but not totally unique. There are other whistled languages such as Silbo Gomero in the Canary Islands in Spain, some Mayan languages in southern Mexico (and maybe also Guatemala and other mesoamerican countries) also have whistled versions, and Pirahã, a fascinating language in the Brazilian Amazon has a whistled and and hummed version. There may be others thst I don't know about
Whistled languages are truly incredible and hopefully they'll be able to survive technological advancements
Edit: the whistled languages usually use tones and patterns to "transcribe" sounds into their respective languages. That's why they can also use it for the English goodmorning
Ah I love creating languages for people like them to use. It’s beautiful

In Kongthong village, Meghalaya, North-east India they have their own Whistling language to communicate too. But this is not known even by Indians! Also in Kongthong village the names are musical tones too.

I watched all of your videos about Turkey. Im turkish but I never had a chance to travel like you so your channel is very informative and funny thanks for all these videos!
This was fascinating. I've never heard of this whistle language, and it's amazing. Makes me wonder if there might be more to the "speech" of birds than we realize!
That whistle language sounds like that Turkish dialect they are speaking, but the consonants far more subtle. At first I thought everyone was perfect-pitch, but, now I think there are extreme parallels between the two languages - in fact, could be it is the exact same language.
- Truly phenomenal!!
Edit: I'm pretty confident, especially after hearing the "Good morning," - but indeed, a tricky language it must be to learn, and such a beautiful concept. Love it.
Dude, you have no idea how happy I am to see you give more recognition of the whistling languages by making this video!
