    Pre-Watch Thoughts:
Ok so this is gonna be an extremely hot take, I really like this show, to the point where I unironically think it's one of the best Kamen Riders, in my Top 10.
I really like the idea that our main protagonist going on a path to becoming one of the shows "big bad", I like a lot of the anniversary aspects, I like most of the characters, most of the suits, yes it's a total mess but a lot of the characters' motivations involve changing time so I didn't really mind it that much since there was an actual reason. I know this show is pretty much the most hated Kamen Rider, giving Ghost a run for its money, but this show was just so much fun, super unique, super entertaining, fantastic way to end off the Heisei Era.
Now I'm just praying Marcus goes back to his roots and will be the one positive person in this review lmao
Edit: I just finished the review, you all failed me

Ok, going to say it right now, this is my sixth favorite Kamen Rider show, my favorite cast in Toku, and, in my opinion, the best anniversary show Toei made. Yes, that does include Gokaiger.
    I just love the characters.
Sougo is such an interesting protagonist, one I had to eat my words on relatively early after calling him an idiot. He is not. He's surprisingly smart and clever. I love the fact that they don't shove his darker sides under the rug and that his friends really are that bit that keeps him grounded and every time the show pulls on these strings, it makes me super emotional. Especially the Another ZI-O arc made me teary-eyed.
Geiz's character arc is just great, and he has become my favorite Secondary Rider because of it. It just feels so natural how the character develops, from trying to be an assassin when his good heart and conscience get in his way to a true friend, despite his desperate stumbles through it. And I generally love how he ends it, with him sacrificing himself for the person he swore to stop. It just gets me!
Woz and Tsukuyomi don't get much character work in the show, but I still very much like them. Woz is a delightful ham and Tsukuyomi is just very likable. I especially love her post series appearances. She's just a Rider, not a newbie, not a weakling, no, she gets to be as badass as she should be and I love that!
I love the Another Riders, in design and plot. They're all really interesting and I'm so glad they chose to go with a two-parter structure for this show. It just hits that sweet spot for Rider I've been missing since Drive.
As for the Timejackers. Probably the weakest part of the show, but I still think they're fine. Swartz defiantly made me hate him, more than any of Gokaiger's villains, so they did at least something good enough.
Also, love all of ZI-O's designs. They just hit that goofy, cool aesthetic for me and Grand ZI-O is just gorgeous.
But, yeah, I love this show.

    • @layton1362
      @layton1362 3 года назад

@@CHopkins73 I think the best way I'd describe it is:
Gokaiger is that kind of restaurant that has pretty good food, a fantastic atmosphere and maybe some annoying quirks. You don't go there to have the best time, but you can always be sure to eat well and enjoy the evening.
ZI-O on the other hand is that weird restaurant that doesn't have the best atmosphere by itself, but the food just tastes exactly how you personally love it, the staff is super friendly and you just end up haveing the time of your life there. By itself, it may be not as perfect, but coming together, it's just something special.
And in less analagy terms, never connected with the Gokaigers as much as with the ZI-O cast. They're fine, but they don't blow me away and are often at their best with others. Also I just hate the villains in Gokaiger :D Basko is fine though.
It's very much a deeply personal thing, but I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy ZI-O more.

Alright, this was the 2nd Rider show I watched that was airing, by this point I already watched 5 heisei riders. I know the show is a mess, I can definitely see this. BUT within the mess, it's still an enjoyable show. Sometimes you just gotta take something and forget all about it and just enjoy for what it is. If Zi-O had a seemingly more narcissistic personality like Kabuto it would have been a lot more believable.
    21:00
If Geiz had a personality much closer to Knight from Ryuki (Not necessarily wanting to kill him, but feeling a duty to do so to prevent his future) and having him jump back and forth between "you're too arrogant to be trusted with those powers, stop or I'll kill you" and "I see the good will in you, work with me to change the future" then his flip-flopping would have been more convincing.

  • @aeonixhope8383

The Another Riders are one of the highlights of the show, and it would be nice to see one based on future Reiwa Riders in a anniversary special.
I also thought the first Another Zi-O arc was well handled and one of the good parts of the show, especially since it had a character taking revenge on Sougo because of his desire to be king, which lead to that character's parents death. Sougo himself actually gets some development, emphasizing the importance of moving on from the past, which actually showed that his desire to be a king wasn't all talk since he does have some leadership skills.
And the one time where Geiz changing his mind regarding killing ZI-O which was the most justified was in the Another Zi-O arcs, especially the 2nd one, since in that case the timeline had been changed affecting almost everyone, in contrast to the other times.

Man there are so many things that I have seen from Zi-O. Half of the show were good but half of the show were bad. This is a huge mess for the anniversary rider. So I am gonna break through everything that I have watched so far.
    Start with the positives:
What I like about this show is how they bring back the casts from the main show such as Eiji, Kenzaki, Tsukasa and so on. Even some of the main riders weren't present but at least the show bring back some casts from the main show. While I do agree that some suits weren't great looking for example, Zi-O trinity, gaim armor (for god sake that one is terrible) and future rider suits, some suits in general looks pretty good and some were my favourites such as Oma Zi-o and Grand Zi-O. Woz and Tsukasa were the only best characters in the show IMO. Woz is a great part considering that he was there to do Iwae part and he always remain loyalty to Sougo. Tsukasa is such a bastard in the best way possible. The theme song in general was pretty good.
    Now for the negatives:
And I agree with what Jacob said this show is so poorly written with terrible dialogue and script. The idea of the main character to become a king was pretty cool and making the main to travel to the past to meet with the main riders to have his lessons learned from them was pretty nice but that all of this poorly executed in the worst way possible. The main characters and the villains were also the problem for this show (except Woz and Tsukasa). Start off with Sougo. He is fine IMO but he is not the kind of person that had a lot of dedication of wanting to become the king and came out as weak character. Geiz is so bland with his motivation goes back and forth of wanting to kill Sougo and side with Sougo. Plus we don't get to know him much such as where he gets the driver, where did he come from and how he joined the military in the first place. And then we get to Tsukuyomi which IMO the worst character in the show. She is also suffer from similar issues like Geiz does but even worse. The fact that she sided with Sougo for the first few episodes in order to ensure that Sougo won't fall into Oma Zi-O path. But when Sougo achieves the Zi-O two form she goes against him for no reason or whatsoever until she saw the truth about Sougo. Also do I even mention on how she wasted her kamen rider powers and sided with Schwarz and killed by Schwarz after she backstab him?! This is too sudden for her to be that way. The villains were not interesting as well. They trying to find each individual who is worthy of becoming a King and they did btw but that got backfired so hard to the point where Schwarz is the one who is going to be the King. The plot is so messy as well. It like this show doesn't even know what it trying to be and that is sort of a problem. The worst episode for me is gonna be Kiva Arc. That episode is the worst example of how you not making so many plot holes. Kamen rider ginga came out of nowhere and serve no purpose to the plot other than the power up for Woz. Also the romance thing between Sougo and the Sailor Girl was really unnecessary and stupid IMO.
Overall this show as the whole for me was a huge mess and I don't think it is the worst IMO because there were other shows that could be worst than this. But even though this show is so messy I still find it enjoyable to watch and I prefer this one more than Decade. It not the best but it not the worst.

  • @FireFury190

Oh, Zi-O had notes. The problem was the fact that they had was scheduling actors in time for tributes. This is why certain tributes happened in the order they did. Like they originally wanted to get Otoya/Grease's actor for the Kiva tribute but they couldn't. This is why the Kiva arc ended up the way it did. It's also why we got a Drive tribute so late into the series, and why it ended up in the movie as well. There were other things too that were supposed to happen but couldn't because of scheduling tributes. Like the Time Jackers were supposed to have their origins revealed sooner, being from different points in time during Ohma Zi-O's rule. But prioritizing the tributes prevented that.

I actually like the RiderTime suits, I think that while sure, they're somewhat bulky, they're cool remakes of the original suits into unique Armors. Which is way better than the lazy "give them the original Rider's suit but a mixed helmet" thing alot of other Riders have done.

About the Fourze/Faiz tribute, here is what I found online from TvTropes:
The connection between Fourze and Faiz:
    * After being beaten, Another Fourze turns back into Another Faiz. Of course he does. Because after Four(ze) comes Five(Faiz/555).
And who ends up with Faiz's Ridewatch? Geiz.
    * This can also fit into the school theme as both Fourze and Faiz had big connections to the antagonists of their seasons (Ryūsei School was the location of the first major Orphnoch attack and was run under a former Smart Brain member, while Amanogawa High School was run by Mitsuaki Gamou in an effort to find Horoscope monsters).
    * Why combine the 555 and Fourze tribute arcs? Recall what the "World of Faiz" arc in Decade was - a high school arc. It's not a stretch to imagine we might see other tribute arcs combined in a similar matter.
    * Also, both Fourze and Faiz are essentially saying "Four-Z" and Five-Z". As in counting up.

I think the mess that Zi-O had when it came to juggling its own story and doing tributes is the main reason why Zenkaiger isn't doing tribute episodes despite being an anniversary season where our cast uses the powers of previous Sentai teams. Instead, it's focusing on its own story.
Also why the hell did they make Sougo's one goal in life to be a king? Why did they give him the most basic main shonen character goal of wanting to be king? What does being King even mean to Sougo? He wants to make the world a better place? Why couldn't he over time in his life shift that goal to being a politician? A more realizable goal. I think the fact that they made Sougo's goal so one-note, made him so naive, and barely gave us a driving reason as to why he's dedicated his life's goal to be that is what's the main issue with him. I've watched Go-Princess Precure and I understand the main girl's goal of wanting to be a princess, as well as actually root for her more than I do Sougo's king dream.

With Sougo, we know that he wants to become a King, but we never actually get to see exactly why, he just “wants to” but we never see it. Now sure him meeting Past Riders, learning and helping them, we can see that he has a good heart at becoming a King, though the problem comes with the fact they casted the wrong actor to handle this role and he was written as too young and not having the “right” amount of energy. With Haruka, her voice actress gave her that great energy and kindness that made you BELIEVE THE HELL out of everything she said!!!

Man, I know this season was bad but I at least got some enjoyment out of it. I was hoping we could've gotten an actual plot synopsis bc I would've loved to have seen a beat by beat rundown of the story.
To play devil's advocate, I'll list some of the things I liked about Zi-O.
-I liked Kamen Rider Tsukuyomi's suit. That's actually my fav in the entire show.
-The post-Oma day arc where the show did all those Heisei Phase 1 Tributes was pretty good. Those actually felt like genuinely entertaining tributes.
-Geiz really came into his own around that time as well. I enjoyed his character around then.
All that said I wanted to touch on one complaint I absolutely agree with.
Sougo was someone that we all should've seen as somebody that could have very easily become a villain. There was no point that I thought this Sougo could become Oma Zi-O because the show writes him as super happy go lucky and naive, nothing else.
The only explanation I could gather is maybe in the Oma timeline when he obtained the Ryuki powers he got corrupted or replaced by the Mirror World Sougo, maybe? That was the best explanation I could make of it.
In terms of personality, he should've been somewhere in the middle between Gaim and Baron. Someone who was nice but teeters on the edge of villainy.
But I digress. Sougo missed opportunity, blah blah blah, the show has many more problems besides that.
I won't say this is the worst Rider season I've seen because I still enjoyed it, but it definitely isn't anywhere near the top. The best way I can put it was strangely compelling, because nothing in this show ever made me so angry or bored that I wanted to stop watching. Honestly cards on the table, I still think Ghost and the 1st half of Drive is worse. Those made me want to tear my eyeballs out bc I was bored to tears.
One thing I am a little saddened by is that since this review is the way it is, we're probably not getting reviews for Heisei Generations Forever or the Geiz Majesty special, which makes me sad.
In any event, I'm still looking forward to that inevitable Zero-One review, and to the Decade in Review for Sentai and the Neo-Heisei era. That'll be interesting to look at, especially Sentai.

But i will have to give them props for them at the time since they manage to get some of the veteran actors back to me the show is 6/10

i think this show might have rushed together when the producers learned that the Emperor was going to retire the early 2019 instead of 2018 as many thought was going to happen. They thought Build was going to be the last Heisei era rider with Kamen Rider Heisei Generations Final being the tribute to the Riders of the era. with the extra Heisei season being also the twentieth show of the era they wanted to do something special, but did not get previous main riders of the era to commit to cameos as Gokaiger ended up with. it is possible they wrote the season as they were getting committed past rider actors.

  • @SSG079
    @SSG079 3 года назад +1

Zi-O to put it bluntly, is a mess. Of the main heroes I thought Sougo was okay and Woz was great. Woz was consistently entertaining, while I felt Sougo could've had more moments to show how he could've became Oma Zi-O (which I agreed with in this review). I feel that was the only thing that was missing in regards to Sougo's character, at least in my opinion. Tsukuyomi and Geiz felt very inconsistent. One minute they were cool with Sougo, then they start thinking he's dangerous and must be stopped. Concept wise I can understand why they are like this, but execution wise it causes their motivations feel as if they're all over the place rather than resembling consistent character development/buildup. The villains...aren't the best, lol. The Time Jackers are wack tbh. I don't remember much about them aside from Swartz becoming Another Decade and being beaten by the main hero at the end. Oma Zi-O was the only interesting villain out of all of them which is kind of disappointing.
The crossovers are a mixed bag. On the good end, we have Tsukasa and Kaito being part of the overall narrative in an interesting way as wild cards. The others are handled...to varying degrees of success. I think I remember enjoying the Agito, Ryuki, and Kabuto arcs the most. The Faiz crossover, looking back on it, made me question if the writers even watched 555. The Kiva arc was odd.
Despite my issues with the show though, I still enjoy Zi-O for what it was. I'm basically the kind of person who can enjoy any kind of show if I find at least one or two aspects of the show that make me enjoy it in spite of its flaws. My opinion may change if the inconsistencies and flaws become something intolerable to the point where I strongly hate it (which is usually rare).

The show had its moments, ryuki arch comes to my mind first. Its just that most of the tribute archs and overall story just felt halfbaked and poorly exicuted. Sogo reset to 1 way too much and Geiz's "will he wont he" got annoying fast. But i did enjoy oh some of the archs, like Kabuto, were "flavors of [season]. For more, watch [season]!"

My thoughts for Zi-o:Its not a bad show not a perfect one but obviousely not the worst toku series/movie in my opinion.Yeah the script is pretty bad,the suits are awfull the gaim's was my least favourite while build's is #1 it looks fantastic but going back to the point,it had some ideas that people would like not myself included because I can see a the pattern of anniversary riders thatI'm become to worried about like: 1:having the main charater becoming a powerfull evil being in the future
2:the main rider can use all the past rider's powers
    3:having some awfull charaters
4:trying to mush a lot of things as they can
5:having only 1 or 2 charaters that are good
6:people who want to kill the main rider
7:the main rider does't want to become their evil future self
8:have such great ideas but terrible excution
9:the past riders are differened than how we used to know them
10: the main rider meeting charaters who knows them but the main rider does't
11: the main rider has to collect all the past rider powers to unlock a superform
    12:the superform is hideous
13:the being hated by a lot of people
Theres a lot to talk about but I'm gonna end it here I might as well make a video about this.(Wish me luck)

I have yet to watch this show if only because I’m wanting to watch everything else in the heisei era and then this being the last heisei show I watch.
But even then I’m not looking forward to this show cause some of these suits are awful, the only ones I like are the base forms, Kuuga, Drive, and Ex-Aid armor, Zi-O II, and Ohma Zi-O.
But based on what I know of the characters, the two things that annoy me to no end are both the main and secondary characters.
Zi-O has a terrible motivation which comes off as incredibly childish, and Geiz constantly flipping sides also pisses me off because it seems to happen way too often.
Sorry I don’t have any proper thoughts on this show but I’ll end up suffering through it one day.
However, Zero One is a completely different story, that is a review I can’t wait for.

I enjoyed Zi-O, the plot being *SO HORRENDOUSLY BAD* was honestly a plus for me because I saw the show itself as a meme. Woz being Woz only made that much more fun to watch because I thought it was designed to be funny (until Aqua showed up and made things serious where I got a bit....confused about where they were going with this.) All in all, it's a terrible show, but one I enjoyed.

    oh boy... *deep breath*
I know it's bad, people who like this show know it's not good, and whether or not you add that to why this show doesn't appeal to you is completely up to you. But when i think of kamen rider, i think of the fun. I think of ex aid having fun with it's video game concepts, or ghost talking about historical figures, fourze and his obsession with friendship, den-o and the imagine just being silly, hibiki and asumu just having moments together, or kuuga giving the thumbs up when a job is done. Zi-o is fun to me because it has all these things just not blended together into a good story. Which another thing about that, no matter what they did i don't think people wouldve liked zi-o because the expectations on it being the last of the heisei era, the era that brought kamen rider back, were too high. You can't sum up kamen rider into one story because that's not what makes it loved. It's the fact that there are so many stories from it that we all love and when you try to merge everything that we love from this franchise into one show... well you don't get something great. What i like about this show over something like build is zi-o knows what it is, i'd say after the faiz/fourze episodes that they knew hey this show wont make any sense.... what the heck let's just have fun with it.
You guys only brought up the beginning episodes and focused on the rider armors (which god damn it guys they stopped using those things after like the 20 episode mark) but i'm slightly dissapointed you didn't bring up what i consider the better parts of zi-o, where they were aware of what the show is and were just having fun regardless of the story. The ryuki ark i found was really interesting and had shinji back and felt like it kinda followed up from the end of ryuki where everyone forgets everything. The blade ark, marcus dude really i wanted to hear what you thought of that cause it was interesting to me. The kabuto ark, okay matt marcus dudes i appreciate you brought up kagami at all in this but dudes he finally became kabuto! How could you not bring it up or how the hell brothers came back, or how it was kind of cool they brought back the 5 second intro from kabuto. Or, REALLY, how could you not talk about the hibiki ark?????? LIKE really!? When i was watching that all i was thinking was 'oh man i bet you guys are going to have something to say about this' but naw... like cmon! The den-o episode i like too and how they addressed that yuuto's actor was the same guy from hibiki.
Guys, just really i get it, i've seen people bash this show and heard everything you guys said a 1000 times by now. But.... ugh how could you skip over the best parts of zi-o?

Even you think that this show doesnt make sense. Like, its a show. It should has a good story/plot or good character development. If its all about fight scenes, i dont have to watch the entire episode, i would just watch the fight scene in RUclips.
And tbh, all of the arcs didnt matter because Zi-O resets the timeline at the end of the show. SO WHATS THE POINT???
Blade's arc made me so mad because Blade is one of my fav series because of the tone. The fact that Kenzaki sacrificed himself becoming a Joker to save Hajime is one of the best parts of the series. Its supposed to be bittersweet. Then, you have Zi-O where suddenly a monster take over their Joker powers and thats it. And apparently, they arent Joker anymore so they can live happily hurray. No, not all endings have to be happy. It took all of the Blade's story and development and threw it outside of the window. Imagine in the last episode of Blade, a new monster shows up and just take Jokers power from Hajime and Kenzaki. Then, they fight the monster and live happily. Sounds bad, right? Im just so mad because Blade is one of my fav and this is what i got.

The writing is the worst the franchise has ever had.

I like Zi-O but I understand that’s objectively it’s a bloody mess. This show rely’s heavily on Kamen Rider already having consistent lore… which it doesn’t, so I understand why the tribute episodes are alternate universes in order to make it consistent (sometimes), but as you bring up, that makes the cameos less impactful because they’re not the characters we know.
The only tribute episode that I liked and remembered was OOO. As an OOO tribute it sucked, but letting Dan Kuroto just happen to be an another rider makes sense since he already called himself a god and it was hilarious. The funniest scene in this show was when Geiz tried to take the OOO ridewatch, but instead he got the Genm watch and when he used it, it was just a black Ex Aid armor and everyone, including the time jackers, was so fucking confused. That was funny. Everything else was nothingness.
Most of the suits were garbage. Base Zi-O, Zi-O II, and Ohma Zi-O were pretty good. Tsukuyomi was amazing, and the another riders were great. Grand Zi-O is easily the worst final form ever. Ignoring the design because I’ve actually warmed up it’s design, it’s still bad because it’s so much weaker than it should have been. After it’s debut(which they botched because Momotaros wouldn’t shut the fuck up) it lost every fight it was in. Grand Zi-O holds the power of every previous Kamen Rider, and it’s treated as just another step towards Ohma Zi-O when it should have been a good and bad ending situation, he chooses one or the other, not both.
I get that they wanted to cast an actor born in 2000, but he looked way too young for a role this serious. The entire cast was way too young looking. The only characters I liked were the uncle, decade, and diend. I actually like how consistent the uncle was with how he helped out. At first he didn’t know how the ridewatches worked, but he figured it out after fixing the Denliner. That was pretty cool. I wish there was a scene were all the previous riders were lined up ready to help Sougo, and his uncle was happy to see how many friends he had. That would have been sweet.
I also don’t like how linked the Heisei era is with the Reiwa era. Zi-o and Decade were specifically made to honor how the Heisei era lasted a long time, but now that Decade Complete 21 includes Zero Two, and Revice only has Heisei forms, there’s this blend of Heisei and Reiwa which basically tells me that the Showa era doesn’t matter which I hate. I know that the lines between the eras is a gradient since there was no break(there’s a reason the eras don’t really exist for Super Sentai) but I hate how they leave out the Showa era. I’m fine with Reiwa the First Generation, but every other crossover between eras should include Showa.
In conclusion, Rider Time Shinobi was the best thing to come out of Zi-o lol. I unironically want Shinobi to be the next full series.

I'm not the biggest fan of Zi-O...but I don't think I can call it the WORST Kamen Rider. I think Kabuto is worse. And I think Hibiki might have bigger problems overall. And while I haven't actually seen them...is this really worse than Wizard and Ghost or even Decade with that show not ending until the movie?
I DO think my biggest problem with the story is we never really saw what made Sougo into Oma Zi-O. I think the idea they were going for was that if Sougo had never met Geiz and Tsukuyomi, he would have ended up being Oma, and their friendship changed him...but he just wasn't a bad enough guy before that to end up like Oma in the first place. I was halfway expecting the uncle to end up being the main villain and maybe the "real" Oma (because father figures are evil 9 out of 10 times in Kamen Rider)...but nope.
I also think they're still kinda trying to follow Den-O's time travel rules, which...were always really weird. Which makes any time-travel plot just strange.
I don't really hate the suits. They are over-detailed but...purposely so? I actually like Grand Zi-O. I feel like it's designed after one of those ornate Buddhist temples (google "Golden buddhist temple" for the aesthetic I think they were going for, there's one in Bangkok that looks like what I'm thinking of). I think it's better than Decade's take on it, anyway.
I also really like Woz's theme, Black and White. It doesn't get played in the show very often, but the full version is a absolute jam.
But...that ending's pretty bad (High school...HIGH SCHOOL FOR EVERYONE FOREVER!)
Overall...I think this show narrowly squeaks out a C- for me. It's about on par with Den-O for me. It's got problems, but seeing the old Riders come back and some of the ideas are interesting enough to maybe suggest ONE viewing for people who have seen some of the past Kamen RIders.
I think Zi-O being "desgined" as the ultimate Kamen Rider Hunter would have been a more interesting idea. Someone designed to destroy all Kamen RIders ultimately being won over by them and their legacy would have been a interesting time-travel plot. Maybe for a English adaptation.

Tsukuyomi has to be one of the worst characters I’ve seen in Toku. She doesn’t serve any point to the show until the final few episodes. Our main characters waste all this time to make her become a rider, only for her to not do anything and turn her back on them. Then she decides to backstab the villain at the most redundant point in the show just for her to get back-handed and then die. Complete waste of a character

    • @07sekhet
      @07sekhet 3 года назад

You do know that Zi-O's ending made all of Rider TIme Ryuki non-canon and pointless? Since Sougo reverted the timeline, the events of RTR didn't happen in canon. Those characters that died in RTR are now alive again because of it. So, it's not really an ending anymore. However, if you mean as an ending in the sense that we may never see anything Ryuki related again, that may be true. And as for Decade's spinoff, it's hinted that Tsukasa isn't really dead either. So all of that was rather pointless as well.

Oooh. Oooooh, we're finally here. One of the worst shows I've ever seen. Gonna pop off list items since to go into a full rant would be more of a wall than otherwise:
    - Terrible tribute season. Almost all of the tributes they do are either not tributes at all or are so terrible that they shouldn't have even tried. Personally I was ready for them to dive into Wizard and look at the lore n such made in that show (however much it had in its original state), but it was just a random episode with the namesake and scarce look of Wizard.
    - Alternate timelines. I like the idea of them showing history where that Rider never happened, but not only does it not really matter at much whether or not that history was erased as far as the world and plot are concerned, but they completely gave up on it before the end of the series.
    - The king plot. Doing this kind of plot is not a good fit because this is supposed to be about Kamen Rider in general, not some stupid "ur gonna rule the world" plotline; they can't even properly connect any of the tributes or the characters to that plot since what the hell do any of them have to do with monarchies (except Kiva, Gaim, and *maybe* OOO). Even Decade managed to make it about Rider by having it such that he was the leader of Shocker or whatever.
    - Sougo. This character is so vanilla while at the same time having all this potential flavor inside with the backstory of Swartz killing his and others' parents for the sake of his plan, Sougo apparently having a proficiency in history (which you could've put in the TIME TRAVELLING SHOW), and just all these other things that are either thrown away or severely underplayed while at the same time expected to make you believe in this character. The fact that they keep trying to claim he's actually got this deep darkness inside is insulting, stupid, and in its own way a joke.
    - Geiz. You guys mentioned it, he can never keep his priorities straight, and every time he tried to do something surprising and impactful for the plot it was like "you're just gonna dip out in like an episode or two".
    - Tsukuyomi. She wasn't a problem character for me in the show, just the standard tolerable female companion, but when they started to try and treat her like she mattered so god damn much was a joke. Her time as a Rider was completely worthless since she just bows down to the enemy immediately only to later get in a pointless backstab and get blown up anyway...which also makes her another female Rider who got killed.
    - Swartz. This was another character who showed potential mainly when they showed his past self since he was a guy who started what he did because his world was gonna end (for whatever reason) and thus he wanted to obtain the power of Oma to save it...and rule it himself. All the show really did with him was boss Huere and Ora around, give him his catchphrase of "I won't take no for an answer", and set up the Another Rider of that week; the only time he really changed the game was when he became Another Decade and even that was only so much.
    - Hiryu/Another Zi-O. Other than both of the suits being shit, this was a character who (once again) showed potential of this guy who was so bitter about what happened to him that he was, like the Another Riders in concept, what would've happened if that given Rider took a dark path. The only thing he ended up being was a stupid bitter bitch who just kept coming back to fight Sougo and just make life worse for everyone, including the viewers.
    - Grand Zi-O. To be clear, I love Grand in looks, henshin + jingle, and function, but they fucked this form so god damn hard that it became useless by the time the show was done with it. You have a form with the ability to summon any Rider, weapon, and power in general with the power of Grand behind it and rip all the ass you want. What you proceed to do with this form is immediately have it outmatched by that aforementioned stupid bitch and give the form similar treatment throughout the rest of the show in that it really doesn't matter that much, especially since it never ended up meaning anything to Sougo becoming Oma (I don't care what anyone says, collecting the watches did nothing to contribute to him becoming Oma by the end).
    - Grand Zi-O being incomplete and therefore unable to defeat/become Oma. I list this separately from the previous bit because it reflects a bigger issue of this show having the fucking audacity to lock story progression (obtaining Drive) behind a *movie*, which it also does with Kuuga and Double except not at as crucial of a point. I do not care if it was readily available to audiences in Japan, if you are going to have something be so crucial to your plot, keep it within the god damn series, or else those who didn't know they were supposed to watch the stupid movie will be left wondering what the fuck is going on with this thing they said they needed to keep the story going.
    - Zi-O 2's time powers. 2 has an issue it actually shares with Grand where you have this stupid amount of power (2's being time reversal and Grand's being...itself) and yet you don't use it nearly as much as you should. 2 only rewinds time like maybe once or twice after it first gets used, which is unacceptable with some of the crap that happens in this show that Sougo could easily undo. It's that classic issue of "you should have no problems here with what you have available".
    - White Woz's book. This is another thing with too much power to not be abused to hell since he can literally write how events go for him. If White Woz wanted so badly for Geiz to fulfill that timeline, all WW would need to do is write a few lines here n there and the show would be over.
    - Sengoku and Nobunaga. This is something Japan does in general where they obsess over that era and that man, but here it's especially bad because you are supposed to be focusing on RIDER history, not just sucking the dick of this one era that I get was really important to Japan's history, but isn't the only god damn thing you have. The worst of it was when they decided to have Krim Steinbelt be a descendant of Nobunaga and then go back to that era to jump around in Sengoku wonderland. Just fucking stop it already.
    - Dan Kuroto. Speaking of sucking dick, they couldn't help but bring this man back because of how popular he was. I will admit that him filling in the spot of OOO works kind of, but other than him hogging the tribute to OOO, just let that man go already, we've had ENOUGH.
    - The Kiva episodes. Oh my god this is the actual worst part of the worst show. So many things happen here: Sougo suddenly brings up this crush he had when he was eight, this psychopathic lady who wants to be queen for some godforsaken reason who has a career in throwing manholes like frisbees, Sougo obsesses over this psychopathic lady, Ginga showing up RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS, Ginga demanding all the attention from the plot when Kiva was already the center of it, everyone on the Zi-O and Jacker sides suddenly entertaining the stupid psycho asshole because of what she *might* be able to help with, Woz Ginga getting rushed beyond belief (that's his super/final form for god's sake you jackasses-), and then Sougo...realizing he had the wrong girl the entire time. They actually manage to take everything that was wrong with Kiva and make it worse without referencing much of Kiva at all outside of the monster servants. Just pure hatred every time I think about it.
    - The alternate forms. Like you guys have mentioned, these suits are awful, and I think one of the main reasons is that they couldn't keep it straight about what they were doing: someone wanted them to be normal armors, someone wanted them to have transformation gimmicks, others wanted them to not appear in the show at all because THAT DOESN'T MATTER APPARENTLY-ok im leaking steam. Point is they couldn't concentrate on what these suits should've done and therefore couldn't keep the suits clean and purposeful; just piles of scrap. I did think Kuuga and Wizard's were decent tho.
    - Letter eyes. This is a very small thing in comparison to everything else, but I kind of hated the letter eyes from a design perspective because that view from in the helmet is so mutilated by the dead space in those letters.
    - Belt balance. Another small thing, but that Driver gets so unbalanced when either just one watch is in or the fat ones get shoved into the other side. As much as I love Grand, you can see when Sougo spins that thing that the belt is trying so hard to keep the utter mass hanging off the side of it.
    - "Get the watch to beat the Rider". Any form besides the debut one for that episode is automatically useless because you can't destroy the monster with any other form. People talk about how forms are made pointless by whatever the show is doing, and this is the absolute worst of it.
I'll probably think of more things later, will likely make it as a reply to this comment, but just...fuck Zi-O man. Been waiting for this day forever and Matt and Jacob vindicated me, thank you so much to you two, I would kiss you both if several things didn't get in the way.

I respect your opinions, but I thought the show was okay. Not Great by any means, but okay. I'd certainly re-watch it before I'd re-watch shows like 555, Zero-One or Ryuki.

Zi-O sucks man. Decade can't even save this show which in itself is not saying much. I feel Jacob's disappointment. The dude gave up even before the review started. 🤣

The season itself is not my cup of tea though I enjoyed some of the tribute episodes.
At least Zero One's better but then again Saber came and it fell off on the ground.

Didnt Zi-O resets the timeline in the last episode? So all of the journeys and the meetings with the past Kamen Riders dont matter because he resets everything. All of the arcs of other Kamen Riders dont matter because they got reset. Its the worst thing they can do to end a show because the ending implies that everything that we've watched doesnt matter. Oh, all the resolutions of the past Kamen Rider series? Doesnt matter because we gonna reset the timeline like it didnt happen. Holy hell, this has to be the worst Kamen Rider show i've ever watched.
I hate the Blade's arc. I hate its ending of the Jokers power are taken by a monster and Kenzaki and Hajime are normal humans now. I hate that. So, i kinda glad that they reset the timeline but they didnt even being consistent with their own show. If you gonna decide that this is the ending of Blade, then dont reset it. Yes, im mad because they ruined Blade's ending but the fact that they reset it made me more angry and it just confirms that they arent really confident with this show.
