Re-tax. I left uk in july 2007 and got a tax rebate because i didn't earn enough that tax year (£1000+). Maybe you will too depending on your tax code. Something else to look forward to is if you have a company or private pension when you retire they tax that as if its an working income!

Congratulations on your flat sale 🥳 Hi, Future i plan to move abroad from UK and live off my pension which is a long time away 😢. My life is work, sleep, pay bills and nothing left end of the month from my wage. Uk is all about taxes, nothing elese, fed up of all of this. You sold your flat, will you live off the interest money put into a uk bank account? I saw your previous comment that you are allowed a uk bank account if you live abroad. If you do live off the interest money, what will you do when interest rate goes down?
I don't have all my eggs in the same basket, I have invested a large amount of my savings which will hopefully give me a good income in years to come. I am still (and always will be) a British citizen and I'm still allowed a UK bank account - as long as I keep the bank happy by having a few DD's going out, they won't have cause to complain. If interest rates go down, I'll simply move money over to another (higher interest) account, it's not a problem as long as you're wise about everything.
How do you feel about life 10 years down the line when you're older. Do you have a plan B? The reason I ask is that I'm at a similar crossroads, but I've already left the UK. Do you rent forever, all the way to the end?
I have no plan B mate because I'm going to make plan A work. Everyone talks about having a plan B because they're pessimistic and they're the lemmings who follow the rest over the edge. Have faith in your decisions or don't make any decisions 😊

You can run but you can’t hide. I find it intriguing that some people feel the need to put their entire life on social media.
Humans unfortunately like a bit of schadenfreude.
I have my popcorn and will observe from afar…
Congratulations on your flat sale 🥳
Hi, Future i plan to move abroad from UK and live off my pension which is a long time away 😢.
@ thank you
do you get you back jumping at night what they call twitching
I used to get a twitching leg EVERY night but not my back. Now I live in Thailand, I don't get it anymore.
Also, I left the UK 8 months ago and I've never looked back 😁
Well hope you are enjoying life in Thailand your new home, must admit found it a bit confusing all be it watch some of your videos for quiet a while,so yes confusing that not much content from Thailand but dated content being uploaded even after many months in Thailand.Let go of the past maybe as you said many times that flat was dragging you down.😊
I'm posting these because I was asked quite a few times "how did you do it?" and I'm so glad I made these videos. I've been here 8 months now and I've never looked back.
@@Vortecksthank you
@@Vortecks I am enjoying the disjointed nature of it. Can be a bit confusing for new viewers I guess. You clearly are in a different place, mentally and physically since your move. I'm pleased to see it working out for you. I'll have to struggle on hear in the UK looking after sick and aging parents. I don't think I've got the drive/courage to do a big move like you anyway. Try to tone the happiness down a bit though when you're back in Thailand....its a bit of a shock to the system.
What was it sold for mate? You did not mention it.
You're correct, I didn't mention it mate. Some things must remain private.
If you're techno-savvy enough, you could find out anyway 👍
Try and find some rich retired Thai lady, that’s my advice, I have seen what’s happening in England, same here in Ireland it’s no place for retires, I have researched Thailand, if you stay away from build up areas stay in the countryside you can get great value for money.
I've lived in Thailand for 8 months now mate and I've never looked back.

A lot of confusion in Thailand at the moment about new tax laws affecting ex-pats..
It won't affect me mate, I'm retired and I'm here on a retirement visa. I'm not earning money in another country and I'm living off my savings.
I've just spent 4 of my days off researching YT vids on the strength of this video so thanks for this mate 👍.
I'm an English immigrant & perm resident of Canada for over 8byrs now.I love the place but I want more value for money & experience a different culture in my remaining time.
I'd advise other people to do the research as me & my Canadian Mrs were genuinely surprised we could go now if the circumstances allowed it 😂
No problem mate. I've been living in Thailand for 8 months now and I never looked back!
If you ever want to move over here, my contact email is in this video 😁 ruclips.net/video/83Q_7sOnDi4/видео.html
Did you not want to sell it back to the council mate? Where I am from, they have to have first refusal.
I didn't buy it from the council, I bought it privately 24 years ago mate.
@@Vortecks what did property sell for ?
I did it 18 years ago. Fuck the system. Just do it.
From one Tony to another...... I did it 8 months ago and I never looked back. F*** the system indeed.
my god you were negative at the start of this video. I was wondering why your videos are all over the place, but then i saw your note.........fair enough
I tried to keep them named correctly and I've created playlists for everything. I know it's confusing but I've lived in Thailand for 8 months now and I've honestly never looked back.
This guy is soaking up the good bits
I live in Pattaya and let's see what happens when he has to navigate the not so good bits...
I've got news for you, I've lived in Huay Yai for 8 months now and yes, I've come across some 'not so good bits' but they're few and far between and not a problem really.
@@Vortecks err ok
They all say they are not coming back until they get sick. Then they rush back to Old Blighty to enjoy the NHS.
I really don't think so mate, I'd rather die out here than return there.
Just seen this in RUclips,I'm selling up and moving abroad too,my son's have a business here in UK and are moving it abroad...IV had enough of this country,if starma wants to treat immigrants over our own elderly and disabled then they can do it ,but my family are leaving...the UK is finished
This is the reason I left mate, I was planning to leave before the general election because I knew that Labour would get in (bunch of liars),
I'm annoyed that I can't do anything about it but I'm seen as a problem by the UK government now, not an asset as I used to be.
Hi Tony just found you hope you still do this after you move I am selling my house I got 6 months free then you get 6 months full price then it's 200 per cent after and my house is empty I would so like to do what your doing good luck
There are a lot of people on here who say that I should have kept my flat and rented it out, what they don't appreciate is that my EPC was an F or G which means that I couldn't rent it out - it would have cost me in excess of £15k to bring it to a standard of renting it and I didn't have that kind of money.
Anyway, cheers mate, I have been living in Thailand for 8 months now and I never looked back!
Some councils speak to people like they are a nuisance. I can speak from the experience of Grimsby with its dreadful customer services, or non existant services.
You could rent it instead and have a little income every month.
It wasn't possible mate, the EPC was so low. I'd have to spend around £15k to bring it into a rentable status and I didn't have that kind of money.
Hi Tony, so when I do pop over can you meet me at the airport in a dress and hob nail boots 😂😂😂🎉
Lee from sunny Hednesford
Yes, no problem mate.
The good thing is, no one will even look twice 🤣🤣🤣
LOL.
Dude you're funny 🤣
Watching the part where you'd just drank the JD
I can't stand JD now 🤣
That why i moved to germany along time ago now im 60
Was it a native woman who bought the flat?
Yes mate.
@@Vortecks Fantastic.
🎉👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Do take your common sense with you on your adventure. The UK is very depressing nowadays but then it is not unique.
I fully understand mate, it's a massive life-changing experience and I've been here for 8 months now. It's the best thing I ever did!
Thailand land of the frozen uk pension…
There are ways around that, another youtuber touches on it a little in his videos. His channel is 'retired and living the dream' Basically it means having a long holiday either back in the uk or a country that is on the reciprocal agreement list. Philippines and Japan are 2 examples.
i would rather take a frozen pension and be a foreigner in a foreign country than stay in uk and feel like a foreigner in my home country thanks
@@markmorris4979 good luck with your frozen pension….you wont get any sympathy from people who want paying in Thailand..
@@markmorris4979 Well said. That's why I moved to Thailand recently. My thought was 'If I have to be surrounded by foreigners then they might as well be nice foreigners.'
@@blackadder1966
Japan does not have a social security agreement with the UK, therefore your pension will be frozen, here in the Philippines you are ok, a lot of uncertainty at the moment in Thailand about new tax laws affecting ex-pats..
Didn't realise ladyboys were compulsory...
Things would NOT be better if we were still in the EU, Cost per week just to be a Member is £141 million pounds per week. Thats not including what else they would expect us to pay for,
I totally agree mate. I think the EU will need total reform to take it back to how it was before the unelected bunch of tossers were in charge.
The UK is still part of the EU, their dictatorship government are still barking their orders out and the UK has to comply or face punishment in some way 😡😡😡
Philippines is better all English speaking all official documents in English ... attitudes are also way above Thai people.
I did consider the Philippines but I came here 8 months ago and I stayed.
The UK has lost it's way ..
Very Very Sad .. .. !
Has the flat been sold by now?
Yes mate, I got paid out in April of this year.
THE BOTTLE OF. JD. -- HE IS NOT GONNA FINISH IT. BUT HE WILL START IT. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I think I eventually finished it, it took me 3 months of hard work emptying that 🤣🤣🤣
