i am a woman, i don't live in the US so the taxes thing doesn't really apply to where i live, we do have taxes but they're way less worse that it is in the US, so whatever you said doesn't apply to me, women work because they want to be able to provide for themselves, im not married but even if i was, i dont want to rely on whatever my husband would be willing to give me, because that is humiliating to any human being who has pride, even if my husband was doing it wholeheartedly, i do agree that there should be a balance when it comes to the fact that there are woman who have children and have to care for them along with having a full time job, and this isn't an issue that could be solved by simply women not working, but by making it easier for them to work AND care for their house/children, in my country when a woman gives birth, she gets one year off (paid of course) which can be extended if needed, and once that one year is due, then there is a kindergarten in the workplace in which any female employee can take her children to, if men and women both work and both care for the child/household, that would be the perfect balance.

We don't have workplace childcare or guaranteed time off for mothers in the USA. She just has to hope her employer is nice enough to offer them, even though this is the richest country on earth, allegedly.
What truly makes me sad is that so many women in the USA are so focused on not needing a husband, that they haven't advocated for these exact rights.

Please check out these videos I sampled. Both are fantastic and if you want to know more about women today and how the zeitgeist got to where it is, remember not to trust any men standing in front of an expensive car.
Interview with Mary Harrington on the Modern Wisdom Podcast:

The Financial Diet laying out how a cultural touchstone actually destroyed women's relationship to money:

    Edit: Seriously, check them out.
