- In the Dune Part One scene Duke Leto Atreides tells Paul "I found my own way to it. Maybe you’ll find yours" and in Dune Part Two Paul takes off the ring before being told by Chani "maybe I'll show you the way" who then kisses him

He came so close to a simpler life.
Paul might have been content with living as just another Fremen.
Even Leto would have been happy, knowing his son was happy.
But fate had other plans.
When he was blowing up shit with Chani they could have done that another 50 years..
Then Gurney Shows up reminding him who is was
@Miafunfactory and then after that Feyd-Rautha wrecked stuff up so bad, that Paul couldn't afford to ignore his terrible purpose any longer.
Touching moments, I think every son can relate to.
Facts
Indeed
not only that, but a first love. And if you've ever lost your father, finding your way without him.
Exactly two people loved Paul for who he was, not who they wanted him to be. By the end he'd lost them both.
2:12 dunno if it’s intentional or not, but Paul kinda gives Chani a strange look after she says that since that’s the very first line she says at the start of Part 1, which might be the dream sequence Paul mentioned to Jessica.
So Paul might have just recognised this exact moment from the dream as it happened and seemed to have accepted it.
Omg didnt think of that at all! I think you are right
Amazing catch!
I noticed this on my third watch and I completely agree. Paul wakes up after this scene which implies it was a dream for him and also exposition for the viewer.
This movie is a Masterpiece.
THE SLEEPER HAS AWAKENED!!!!
anyone else had to resist yelling this in the cinema when Paul woke up?
@@henrythomasmarten I had a moment too, yes.
It’s sad they didn’t have that scene in this rendition.
Leto was a good man. I respect him very much.
Interesting that he removes the ring when he "finds his way", so what does that mean when he puts it back on before declaring himself the Messiah? Is Paul telling us here that he has "lost his way" and has accepted the religious mantle?
When he takes off the ring, he accepts being a Fremen. When he puts it on again, it's him accepting his fate as the Prophet who will rule Arrakis.
This whole sequence of scenes is why the modern Dune movies (pt1 and pt2) represent one of the greatest tragedies of all time.
He falls in love with the Fremen and embraces their way of life as his own ("Father, I have found MY WAY" as he takes off the Signet). He falls in love with Chani. He joins with the Fremen to do everything he can to stop the Harkonnens. After riding the sandworm, he is a whole Fremen warrior. He has passed everyone of the tests and is embraced by all Fremen as one of them.
Then you contrast that with the ending of the movie where the only path he can take to ensure the survival of the Fremen, Chani, and ultimately (if you've read the books) humanity, is to walk the way of Paul Mua'dib Atreides. Becoming the Quizartz Hadderach and completing his revenge against the Harkonnens while taking the throne as Emperor of the Imperium. In doing so, he knows he has to break Chani's heart in front of everyone in the Imperial Court, but that anything less wouldn't work.
So masterfully done. That's why all six times I saw it in IMAX, I sat in stunned silence, tearing up when the ending credits music played. Such a classic tragedy.
It would have been nice if Paul would have taken Chani to Caladan to see the ocean a d the rain...
Instead he took her heart and changed his mind
There's going to a part three and if you remember in paul's vision he has in part one it looks like he is on caladan looking at his soldiers while he and her look down on them while they both are on a spaceship.. Dune part three is coming
@@richardbenway8183 But she won't be the "same" Chani anymore. The one Paul fell in love with. Just as how Paul is now a different person after Dune 2 and not the Person Chani fell in love with. Something bigger as a Fremen fighter. It's kinda tragic in a sense.
wait spoilers:
I haven’t read the books but doesn’t chani die giving birth?
Jamis was there too and I don't think he's gonna be there@@richardbenway8183
Still a wetter love story than Twilight
Zing
Go on, ask him about the waters of his homeworld.
This movie is phenomenal. Denis is a mastermind director
Father and son moments don’t happen often in media actually very rarely and this hits harder than anything mother daughter can match
I see some of YALL can’t help but compare son/father & daughter/mother dynamics. No one is more powerful than the other, that’s dependent on the skill of the writer but go off I guess.
No acting - Dune made me cry
.. Even Zendaya
