Glad to see the original Perry Ellis for Men get some attention. I have used it since it came out. The newer stuff is not the same as the original having less oak moss, but I like it all the same. Thanks Matt
Lapidus Pour Homme is delightful and I wear it all the time...same goes for Jules which I absolutely adore! Jules has been neutered somewhat by reformulation but it's still a beast! Hats off to Dior for continuing to offer it. That said there are usually vintage bottles available on eBay that really should be tried. But ultimately the current version is quite amazing!

I used to own the Perry Ellis for Men and Lapidus Pour Homme back in the day, great scents.
I have to give a shout out to “Lauder for Men”, especially the original 1985 release. What an awesome fragrance and so typically powerful and masculine from that era. Lots of notes…opens with a blast of green, herbal and citrus transitioning through rose and other florals and finally finishing with oakmoss, patchouli, muskiness and powder.

I was able to find two bottles of Boss Number One for about $10 each, what a steal. I figured it was by mistake and I had never seen it before but I watched Matt's and Kelan's reviews in the store. Now it's one of my favorite scents.

I'd love to eventually get your take on Santos Concentree in the built in sprayer version Dan. The original edt concentree with the black cap and gold collar was brilliant and I've heard the newest striated version is...not, but maybe the built-in sprayer is a happy medium? Massive props to Matt's girlfriend for loving Lapidus. 😄 Always been a fan of his channel.

The current version of the Perry Ellis for Men is a totally different fragrance than what was made in the past. The current version does smell like Calvin Klein Obsession, because they replaced Oakmoss with Cinnamon and amped up the vanilla. I have both versions, and the old bottle with "Cologne for Men" on the bottom is a bright, oakmoss bomb with an amazing carnation and galbanum which adds more greenery. The newer version is borderline boozy, and can become cloying. I like both fragrances, but you will never find the older version for $25. Great video!! Fragrance Matt is one of my favorite reviewers.
Ted Lapidus PH is a beast. A punch in the face. A rougher Kouros, yet with a sweet honey coming through. A good f-u fragrance.

Lapidus pour homme all the way.True 80` powerhouse.Beast mode performance.Blows away 90 percent of todays eau de parfums.That is the way the DESIGNER stuff were made back then.Love the 80´.Where´s Zino???

I have so same nose like Matt! Lapidus the best perfume ever created for me! I love it every time i put it on me! Second lagerfeld classic and third kouros!

I was a teenager in the 80s!...Well 1989 i was 16 years old and a Young adult in the 90s and boy i would never change it...Lucky man Me and you were Dan...We grew up in the best era ever that came along....I miss them days so much its not funny...You no they come up with everything else so where is that time machine so we can go back and relive them days.....Loved chasing all the babes around and hanging with buddy's. Very Nice Review Dan...He says all the department stores are getting the axe and he is right...Everybody better hold on tight to there rare Fragrances because i think that the Fragrance industry is going away for some reason.....Just a thought I figured I would mention...And its only my Opinion....

Love Lapidus Pour Homme..
My first 'serious' fragrance (in the early 1980s) was 'Phileas' by Nina Ricci., which I initially bought during a holiday in Jersey. Sadly, Phileas was discontinued many years ago.
Love Cartier Santos...I am hoping they release a new PARFUM version !!!
Used to love that Perry Ellis (original)...but the newer version....NOPE, sadly. Have never smelled Rapport...need to investigate the older version. Boss #1 a big love ! The version that does not have "number one" on the bottle is the best....IMO. Recently picked up Lapidus Pour Homme...so good....wish to smell the vintage now.
It's crazy but all those older masculine (often lavender) scents reminds me of my dad who's not here anymore, even though I barely remember what he had back then when I was young (early 90s) But I remember Fahrenheit and those after shave smelling type colognes.. Makes me think of him wearing for example Guerlain Heritage :')
The old school fragrances I own are Heritage, Chanel antaues and Creed Bois du Portugal :)

Well I like retro/vintage/old school frags so I'm looking these up on Fragrantica as you went along. Like Boss Number One, it scares me. Main comparison given on Fragrantica is the original Givenchy Gentleman EDT, which is cat piss in a bottle. I don't like piss as a fragrance. I've got Lagerfeld Classic and Santos de Cartier lined up to buy, but I'll never buy a full bottle of Kouros or Boss Number One.
