I am a great admirer of Sonu Nigam, and I have undoubtedly listened to his songs "Mujhe Raat Din" from *Sangharsh* and "Panchi Nadiya Pawan Ke Jhonke" more frequently than any songs by Kumar Sanu and Udit Narayan. However, when evaluating the overall impact during that specific era, Kumar Sanu and Udit Narayan had a more significant influence. Despite his remarkable skills and techniques, Sonu Nigam did not produce as many evergreen songs throughout his entire career as Kumar Sanu and Udit Narayan managed to deliver in just two years of their prime. In terms of duet songs, Sonu Nigam's with his all technical skill could not compete Kumar Sanu and Udit Narayan in any of their duet songs. This is what defines true impact.

Let’s make this clear no one could live with peak Kumar Sanu. He was the only singing superstar of last 35 years in Bollywood. Udit despite being established before Sanu in 1988 stayed in the shadow of Sanu till 96/97. Kumar Sanu just by his own name sold millions of music cassettes.
He gave hundreds of hits for low budget films with B grade star cast. Jaan tere naam, Bekhudi, Salami, Bada Din, Sir, Rang, Dil ka kya Kasoor, Balma, Phir teri kahani yaad aayi and many more didn’t have A grade heroes but these albums became chartbusters just because of Kumar Sanu. Udit relied on big banners and stars to give hits.
His 5 film fare awards only one was a duet song rest were solo whilst Udit won 4 awards for duets proving Sanu on his own was the key factor.

@@thecommonman1083 lol who said that ....Sonu Nigam in his prime was way more popular than kumar sanu in his prime this is the sheer reason younger lot get their inspiration in sonu nigam rather than kumar sanu .......Sonu Nigam didnt fizzled out at any age .... it was 2013 when Sonu Nigam took a stance agasint music label T Series which asked him to sign the contract a clause which deprive singers from royalty while in 2012 law was amended and singers were lawfully deserved royalty .....Sonu Nigam recorded many songs in 2013-2014 in films like Kick , yeh jawani hai dewani , heropanti , Main tera hero..... but due to this tussle his songs got redubbed and he was banned by music label ..salman khan sang his song hangover in film Kick ......but in 2023 T Series and Sonu Nigam patched up .....all the contract issue resolved and singers started getting royalty kumar sanu is the witness and he said Sonu Nigam took a bold step for us ......but now Sonu Nigam is back last year he has sung in almost every big film be like Dunki , Animal. Rocky rani ki prem kahani ...... his upcomming 2 songs in bhool bholaiyaan 3 will release soon ...... So it was all regarding contract issue which got him bann but now he is back ...... Kumar Sanu at the other side never returned since 1995
@@Rehan-fv7ur forget 90s . Even between 1999-2005 period kumar Sanu has more hits than Sonu Nigam. Sonu Nigam was dusted in early 2000s itself and post that whatever he sang is big zero.
