The Blue Devils may not play popular music. They may have topped DCI 15 times. But the Blue Devils deserve respect. Whether you like other corps for any other reason, Every single drum corps deserves respect. These are kids between 15 and 21 years old that you are trashing. So what if they are not your favourite. You don't have to cheer for them. But show these kids some respect. They are an incredible group, and give up their lives for an entire summer to accomplish them. Respect them.
I don’t. I really like that Crown show. I’m not really a big Crown fan if I’m being honest (especially after 2015), but 2012 is undoubtedly one of their best shows. However, to be the champ, you have to be consistently great across the board and have a show that moves DCI forward into the future more than any of the rest. In 2012, that was BD. No doubt.
This has got to be my favorite introduction to any World Championship Finals Award Ceremony video. Recognizing all the World Championships and how only very few were able to achieve the title in DCI's history since 2012. The thing is who knew that in the next four years, not one but, TWO new names (Carolina Crown and the Bluecoats) would be added to the Founders' Trophy. Drum Corps is truly it's own art form.
Watched all top 4 shows through. 4: Cadets 3: BD 2: PR and 1: Carolina Crown. I'm sorry but the speed that crown moved around, the sound they blasted wonderfully, and the amount of chills they gave me was without match. I've been watching DCI since the early 2000's and I was blown away. For that matter, Phantom could have won it as well. Amazing storytellers
They were just too dirty. Don't kill me but I actually loved the Devils show from this year and didn't really like the crown show. As a huge fan of Star, especially 93 star, I thought they looked like chickens with their heads cut off.
Steve Rondinaro. Back in the day he was not only our local tv anchorman, but my corp director too. One day he gave us one of his famous motivational speeches. It began, "my boss at the station called me into his office & said to me...", and without thinking I blurted out "Your fired." DEAD silence filled the room & my panicked brain screamed "why did you SAY that?!". Suddenly the corp erupted in laughter. Steve came over, patted me on the head, smiled & spared my life. Thank you, Mr. Rondinaro.
You can tell who the fan favorites were that year. The crowd bearly reacted when Carolina crown was announced because they were disappointed that they got second. They got louder much after the announcement. That was supposed to be their first championship. I'm sorry but BD had way too much clutter visually on the field and I don't think the show was all that amazing. It had its moments I'll say but CC was way more exciting in almost all aspects. Even their ballad brought the crowd to their feet and that moment of just huge noise in the closer was reminiscent of Star '93 before they closed it with Medea. Raw power!
You, and many other people are just very biased about Carolina Crown. BD just performed better, and they really put their all into it. And it really doesn't help that CC got 6th for percussion...like usual
You both are bashing upon one another. BD's shows are not very entertaining to the general dci crowd, agreed. Crown's drum line is known to be their weakest link by many, agreed. But they both also are seriously good drum corps who each have very good things going for them. Instead of booing Crown's percussion, let's give their outstanding horn line and highly competitive color guard a nod, hm? And instead of bashing on BD's shows, let's look at their scores.
still die when I hear the correction of Best Brass. If Crown's show was just a little cleaner, they totally could have won. Same with 2009. Crown will always be my favorite.
Loving the difference between the crown crowd reaction and BD reaction in the brass award. You can have your 2-inch "plaque." We'll take the crowd, if you don't mind.
Yes it is. It will be shown on DCIFinals[dot]com, DCI[dot]org, as well as on our RUclips channel, and possibly dci[dot]thefannetwork[dot]org. You can't miss it!
Crown was robbed. If I had to name five of the hardest shows I've ever seen performed I'd say Cadets 93, Star 91, Cavaliers 03, Cadets 97 and Crown 12. They performed the crap out of this show. The crowd loved it, but it doesn't pay to engage the audience. BD works the sheets and that's all that matters to them.
carolina crown then blue devils then blue devils again then bluecoats then blue devils then santa clara vanguard then blue devils and next year? i wanna day bluecoats
Does anyone know the story behind the error in the Jim Ott award presentation? I'm sure it was nothing nefarious, but that seems like quite a mistake. I'm just curious how that went down.
Kelvin Chau The Cadets had a Christmas show that year. So the drumline formed a crown for retreat. Also the Cadets had a Crown design in their drill in the closer
I agree completely. I honestly have never liked their show concepts and plus I honestly think its time for a 7th member to be added to the list of world champions... idk, maybe Carolina Crown? I seriously thought Carolina should have won this last year.
ugh... i COULD NOT find kendra for simple gifts... I swear i looked everywhere and could not find her! This was still an awesome retreat! And the best brass mix up was a lot funnier live i promise.
Yes at first i hated BD back in like 2010. Started to look at more and more into them. Started to lighten up a little. Went to championships this year. I had allready studied the BD book. You know simple as it is. But looking at the other line books. I thought BD wasn't going to win. When they did win. I left the stadium and bought a "I
Sigh, ok, this has been on my mind since June.....What happen to Brad Pouncey? I like his Conducting Style more than Kendra's. Her wrist is bothersome...O-o.

You said respect like 50 times. You’re annoying
was Steve Harvey announcing the "best brass" award or...
Hilarious
Can we just talk about how the Cadets stayed in the top 5 with a Christmas show? (a very good one at that)
That arranging was on fire
It's a timeless show
I love that. 2nd place, Carolina Crown.[Large applause] 1st place, Blue devils [small clap] "WE LOVE YOU CROWN!!" [More applause for Crown]. haha
"It took awhile for fans to warm to this show"-more like never warmed to this show. I was at finals you could tell everyone wanted Carolina Crown.
They should have announce the 1st place then the 2nd. That creates more excitement.
Greatest moment in all of DCI history:
"Correction, correction, correction. We have a correction..."
CORRECTIONWEHAVEACORRECTION
34:25 "correction.. correction... we have another correction... 1st place goes to... Carolina Crown" :P
who all think Carolina Crown should have won that Year
Everybody
Nah

Too bad Crown was far too dirty in percussion and visual :/
2019 will be Crown's year. New visual instructors, and their drumline is improving.
Even though I love Crown, this comment above me aged like milk
@@the1aj39 he wasn't wrong about the perc tho, 2018 and 19 crown battery has been great
They were just too dirty. Don't kill me but I actually loved the Devils show from this year and didn't really like the crown show. As a huge fan of Star, especially 93 star, I thought they looked like chickens with their heads cut off.
Yes. We needed to fix a couple of misspellings of award winners names.
Well, that was a real slap in the face for the blue devils. Carolina crown deserved it anyways.
Steve Rondinaro. Back in the day he was not only our local tv anchorman, but my corp director too. One day he gave us one of his famous motivational speeches. I love how he smacks his lips right before he announces Carolina Crown as 2nd. Like he didn’t want them to get 2nd
Crown could've won colorguard. Their guard was unbelievable in 2012
You can tell who the fan favorites were that year. The crowd bearly reacted when Carolina crown was announced because they were disappointed that they got second. No, 2009 should have been crowns first win, 2008 should have been the first top 3
30:20 "A very deep show for BD"
Unless you were high the entire time and made shit up ion your head, there was not plot to that show period...
My top five: 5: Cadets, 4: Vanguard, 3: Blue Devils, 2: Phantom Regiment, 1: Carolina Crown.
"...carolina crown."
YEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Star of Indiana......nuff said
Krys Warfield uhhhhhh
In 2012 Star of Indiana's met their equal. In 2013 they met their superior.
Well Crown’s brass staff all pretty much used to march for Star of Indiana.
25:11 - Yikes I bet the announcer felt terrible!
Carolan Ivey LMAO YOU THOUGHT BD
still die when I hear the correction of Best Brass. If Crown's show was just a little cleaner, they totally could have won. Same with 2009. Crown will always be my favorite.
The fans loved Crown!
Good job Carolina Crown will get the Blue Devils this year
The most exciting retreat is still 2008.. The crowd reaction was crazy :D
that awkward moment when you dont know if fans are cheering for who got second place or they are just super excited for who got first place. LOL.
It was definitely option 2.
WE HAVE A CORRECTION...
I swear, I think the press box announcer did that on purpose just to troll Blue Devils.
I like how in the intro the guy had the blue devils' plaque in front of phantom regiment's but took it away when discussing phantom's win in 2008
Your story made me smile. Thank you.
:)
anyone else think it was funny when the announcement for best horn line was corrected?
The mass brass piece seems to be a chore now. For having 12 hornlines play it, it just doesn't have the spark it had in earlier times.
Crown was robbed. If I had to name five of the hardest shows I've ever seen performed I'd say Cadets 93, Star 91, Cavaliers 03, Cadets 97 and Crown 12. They performed the crap out of this show. Get over it! BD only recruits the best of the best, that's why it's so hard to be accepted into the drum corp.
i'd say cadets 15 was harder than a couple of those
WE LOVE YOU CROWN!
You can see all the white teeth of Carolina Crown when they get the correction haha
28:55
Where there SHOULD have been a correction
I love it when the camera is showing all the corps on the field and the only helmets to reflect or shine. Are the bluecoats. :)
Blue Devils deserved GE because they got the entire crowd to go HUH?!?! Thats pretty damn good effect if you ask me!
i love the intro... goosebumps
2012 - 2015 - 2019 ... come on !! We knew who’s should won :)
Yep. You are correct. BD should have won and did.
Cap.
Wow. I want to see the Bluecoats make gold so bad!
They did! 2016 to be precise. Nyess...
Blooing gives me chills every damn time.
i think the Crossmen deserved a higher place than last!!
Mark Breiter I thinks top 10 at least
What happened to Phantom Regiment Canon D presentation ?
Not to pick on the Blue Devils, but did you ever notice the bigger cheer for Crown for winning the Jim Ott award?
I spy at 17:47 George Hopkins
Why are the Crossmen walking around the whole time?
I think it had to do with their show theme
DAMN THE WHEN YOU HEARD CAROLINA CROWN INSTEAD OF BLUE DEVILS DAMN!
Crown and Phantom forever
anyone else cry watching that intro?
Great sportsmanship at the end between BD and Crown. I really wanted Crown to win, but it's nice to see what good sports they are
carolina crown then blue devils then blue devils again then bluecoats then blue devils then santa clara vanguard then blue devils and next year? i wanna day bluecoats
I still wanna be that guard member in front of that company front for the Madison Scouts.
CORRECTION....WE HAVE A CORRECTION..
Does anyone know the story behind the error in the Jim Ott award presentation? I'm sure it was nothing nefarious, but that seems like quite a mistake. I'm just curious how that went down.
They were Blue-ing, not booing. :-)
At 12:20, the thing in the back of the field of cadets look like a crown logo.
Kelvin Chau The Cadets had a Christmas show that year. So the drumline formed a crown for retreat. Also the Cadets had a Crown design in their drill in the closer
“In the event of a tie...” Why two Visual winners?
For me the top 6 would be:
1st: The Cadets
2nd: Carolina Crown
3rd: Blue Devils
4th: Bluecoats
5th: Crossmen
6th: phantom regiment
I agree completely. I honestly have never liked their show concepts and plus I honestly think its time for a 7th member to be added to the list of world champions... idk, maybe Carolina Crown? I seriously thought Carolina should have won this last year.
i find it funny how the camera zoomed in on vanguard during simple gifts even though they werent even playing at all
ugh... i COULD NOT find kendra for simple gifts... I swear i looked everywhere and could not find her! This was still an awesome retreat! And the best brass mix up was a lot funnier live i promise.
Every award goes to the Blue Devils !!
That stadium was DEAD Silent after each award. Everyone was anticipating the final 2 scores... crown got the shaft. all i will say.
Carolina Crown
If you think they are overrated, then you don't know much about Drum Corps. You don't win 14 times and be overrated. The judges know who is the best.
didn't cry, but had alot of chills
What don't the judges see in Bluecoats..... the world may never know.... *shakes head and cries in corner...
this comment hasn't aged well
Brandt Crocker, trollin' hard. Crown wins. Suck it Devils, b/c you aren't stealing this one from them
what is the name of the background music in the beginning?
wait. did he just say "best brass ferpormance"!?!?
lol yeah i think so
I think it's funny how the Brandt Crocker was almost so confused that he read blue devils for brass that he said "ferpormance"
you can almost hear the disappointment when he announces Crown in 2nd.
I don't understand how they pick. They all sound great to me!
LOL look at how Carolina Crown Drumline decided to set there drums @18:10
Why didn't bluecoats win the high percussion award?
Why did the bluecoats get booed? when they announced their place
shout out to everyone else on the field who didnt have much time to learn simple gifts lol i winged that
Is this broadcast happening again this year?
Durring the interview of the BD Drum Major, i bet he was saying in his head "Your the bitch that beat us by .025 a few years ago"
My highschool instrcutor is going this season to play hell cats :)
Phantom Regiment should've won best guard and Crown should have won the entire night.
at 10:30 is the guy in front of the coats like 7 feet tall?
Why can't some of these corps members not stand still? Aren't they at attention? They just keep fidgeting...
DUDE. You done goofed on the brass award
Wait, is this a re-upload?
Honestly, I think Bluecoats should've been at around 4th. I think they did a top notch show this year.
I'm glad I marched this year
What Happen to The Academy Corps
Yes at first i hated BD back in like 2010. Started to look at more and more into them. Started to lighten up a little. Went to championships this year. I had allready studied the BD book. You know simple as it is. But looking at the other line books. I thought BD wasn't going to win. When they did win. I left the stadium and bought a "I
cavies should do frame works part 2
Always gives me the chills when I hear this 17:53
Sigh, ok, this has been on my mind since June.....What happen to Brad Pouncey? I like his Conducting Style more than Kendra's. Her wrist is bothersome...O-o.
First time I ever heard it I thought that too, but it's the Faithful giving the famous BLUUUUUEEEEEEEEE... Ya gotta be a Bluecoat fan to understand.
What's that beginning song
I wish BD trumpets didn't play in mics
