I love the shots of Carolina Crown's faces when they're getting announced as the winners... so much emotion there, fighting back the urge to jump for joy or cry tears of joy and stand at attention.
What a great show they put on. Definitely deserved the win.
Blue Devils learned a little something about humility after the 2008 results. Compare their reactions this year to the 2008 ceremony. They showed much more class this time and I personally respect them much more because of it.
wtf, you respect the fact that they werent as sad when they lost, yet the crown crowd cheered through giving blue devils the award thats disrespectful, they could at least let them get the award.
I hate how dci announces scores
lonnie register what does the crowd's reaction have to do with how BD behaves? Or how other people feel about them? It seems like you're getting worked up over nothing
@@Wantonlon I know you'll never read this but the fans of the winning corps always get loud when second place is announed because they know they won, and they get even louder when their own winning score is announced. I myself would prefer to just have the winner announced instead of second place but I understand why it's done that way.
C-Doug I think the Blue Knights were responsible for that incident in 2008
36:22 the realization you are now a world champion.
moving.
It was about more than just becoming World Champions. It was about fulfilling the dreams of everyone associated with Carolina Crown that one day a new name would go on the trophy.
This was the first finals I've attended.....still in awe three months later. Zooming into see Crowns' faces knowing they just won the title reminded me of the faces Phantom had in 2008.Crown and BD got along so well even after the scores were announced, now I call that pure class, well done to them, just my opinion but I thought Santa Clara shoulda got the silver but that just me being bias because they touched the life of my cousin who was in color guard in high school but was in an accident and now in a wheel chair. She'd never heard of drum corps but went with me to watch SCV practice and it just made her day.
Crown 2013- World's luckiest percussion section
Luckiest battery. Front ensemble was Sanford-caliber.
Battery he means
Crown's percussion now has increased in quality though. The 2018 book was a banger
@@Dannyhaleperc the OP meant that they managed to stay within a point of BD NOT to lose DCI. Ditto the 1984 Garfield Cadets.
The point guard that only scores 6 in the championship isn't the "Luckiest Point Guard" in the NCAA. Right? So why say that about Crown's Battery? This is a team sport and Crown proves it.
40:13 I didn't know batman was in the box lol
I'M BATMAN! 🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇
folks....we NEED to get coverage of this on ESPN...if they can cover BOWLING they can cover this....and more that....why not have its own network!!
Man BD sure is tough competition...Crown wins 3 captions and still only beats them by about .15 points. Sheesh.
Chuck Norris Don't forget, Crown did place 6th in drums, so that held them back
Great comment that no member of DCI loses.....I have always said that DCI is so tough that EVERY single member of EVERY single corps deserves Respect, I remember after we won in 90 that I got on a plane and flew back to my university to start marching camp for them. Tired HECK YEAH but loved every hour of it. Congrats to ALL THE CORPS
35:17 There's always that one guy xD
He wasn't the only one xD
LittleOrphans Didn't even see the other one xD
lol!!! so true
You hear people in the back “aaahh man” lol
I died when I heard the crowd, "aww man"
Crown deserved this year's gold :) I am incredibly proud to have seen them in person and amazed that they used our field and our facilities and have walked around on my school campus. And after this video, I'm extremely proud of having two of the visual instructors for the Blue Devils!
I've been following Crown since 1995 and had the pleasure of marching with them in 2002. This is definitely a great thing to see! I'm so excited for the organization and the Carolina Crown family, A Championship is Finally Here!!!
DCI is so amazing. If you look at everyone of those performer's faces, you can tell their enthusiasm and just how proud they are of themselves and the prowess and hard work that had gotten them THAT far. DCI is one of the only things i have seen that has shown that.
The looks on all of their faces... I can't even imagine what it must have felt like to stand on that field looking up into the crowd.
I love how most all of the members of the crown were trying to keep a straight face and failing to do so miserably! 😆
***** that's just a bd retreat tradition, they are very relaxed about retreat
***** fr doe
***** *Cough cough* the Blue Devils every year.
+KB.Richmo This is something we have been doing since 1976. And proud of it.
Is there anything the Blue Devils aren't proud about?
Every single time I watch this, I cry in honor of Carolina Crown's very first World Championship ! That crowd impact when Blue Devils got announced as Silver medal; it's just so touching and huge; phenomenal.
This was one of the most remarkable things I've ever seen in person.
41:59 "I love your hair by the way." Oh the color guard
To think that somewhere jdfuncorps is in there.
I'm the one vlogging haha.
Jdfuncorps
I actually came to this video to look for you, Lol
Jdfuncorps You were at the ceremony in person and you still watched the vide o of it haha. I think thats kinda funny
Crown deserved it all the way through, but props to the blue devils for the show of sportsmanship by congratulating crown after loosing, great season
37:00 i love the blue stars member to the right who's just vibing with their plume
36:13. when ever I need to cry tears of joy.
Would LOVE to pay and watch the FINALS at the theater like the semi's. Will this ever be a reality? Go CAROLINA CROWN !!!
No way. Crown's brass was superb. No question.
One of the best years of modern DCI
Linda Harvey actually went to my high school, where she was drum major as well.
Such a great year for all the corps!! Fantastic shows from everyone!
Wow! Great to be able to see this on You Tube. Glad to see the Bluecoats make the top five.
Today we had our first Winter Guard rehearsal and the coach belongs to the spirit of Atlanta! That was pretty cool! She is amazingly good!!!!
This makes me really happy. I did a clinic with the, in July and I loved with show.
The"scary witch doctor lady" from the blue stars is my colorguard instructor.
BLUE DEVILS AND CAVALIERS
Congrats Jim on your leadership award!
Congrats Carolina. :) Love seeing the emotional payoff at the end.
Hey I’m lost what’s going on everyone is congratulating Carolina crown what happened I’m late
@@a1jrsquad977 i think they had a baby, can't remember
@@a1jrsquad977 they got accepted into a good college i think
I like how people shake the plumes on their shakos when they're on the big screen lol
My friend was in that phantom 2012-2013 and is trying out agin for this year wish him the best of luck.
CAROLINA CROWNN♥♥♥♥♥
This and 2008 are the best!!
I feel bad for saying this but at 15:41, the guy's face tells me, "Well, there goes the gold."
My old band director marched for crown one of the first years they were around and our percussion instructor works with spirit of Atlanta
See I don't mind watching prelims in the theaters....but finals is where it's at. Imagine being in the movies with a bunch of people watching this as if in person....LIVE.
37:10 "oooooOOooh my goodness
I think the Phantom Regiment Drum Major should've helped conduct the national anthem
Awww, Crown is so happy!
Ahh so beautiful.
one of my teachers in marching band was in the madison scouts this year and two people from band and one from color gaurd were invloved in this years dci competition
BD got a bigger ovation when they were announced second than they did after their performance.
That's cause people weren't cheering for bd. They were cheering for crown cause they knew they won
i think thats such an asshole thing to do.
+lonnie register, it is and it isn't. How can people or cheer when the corp they wanted wins? That's jut how it is. Crown 100% deserved to win that year and people have every right in the world to be happy
lonnie register I wouldn't consider it an asshole thing at all. The fans were cheering because the corps they loved just won their first championship, and that's how it is every year. The moment we won was beyond amazing and I know I wouldn't want to think that my parents were standing out there lightly clapping after the BD announcement and waiting for our announcement before they celebrate. It just doesn't make sense quite frankly, and it's an amazing moment, there's nothing wrong with celebrating then, you can't contain it....
The plastic crowns are an ageout tradition for the guard.
Good crown!
Did Brandt Crocker have a cold or something?
37:00
Loving the hats.
Blue Devils have never placed under 5th, so everyone can get off their case lol. I am a huge fan of Crown as well, but the Devils have always been my number one pick. Blue Devils have every right to want to break formation to hug one another. I'd be proud as well.
+Miyala Petets They have.. but it was 1974....... :P
+Eric Lozaga You're right actually.
+Miyala Petets I know.. but thanks for the affirmation :) People might not like BD.. and for good reason. People might love BD.. and for good reason. but not matter your feelings you gotta give BD major props for that feat alone.. No other corps has been that consistent...
and even more amazing.. BD has only been out of the top 3 SEVEN YEARS.. and only out of the top 3 ONCE since 1993.
Miyala Peters Actually , BD have never placed under 5th since 1978 ; so please get off of your high horse.
Bluecoats show was under-rated that year imo.
they were so emotional
i love it
When you look back at this 8 years later the cheering was not from the Blue Devils getting second its from Crown finally getting gold
Those BD shakos were so fire
My winter guard and marching guard teaches carolina crown!
He's the commentator that DCI deserves, but not the one it needs.
"My goosebumps have goosebumps"
It's true, Cedar Park (Texas) sends many kids to corps every year. There were at least 6 of them in the 2011 Santa Clara Vanguard
Crown is a class act.
20:22 I HAVE DIABEETUS
SCV Colorguard Captain is our school's color guard instructor
I'm a Blue Devil fan but I must say congratulations to the Carolina Crown. Until they meet up at the end of 2014.
Christopher Quan this comment aged so well.
Just like in 08
I'm sure they are all happy with what they accomplished.
Great night.
wowwww,Thank's
9:53 Hoo boy, the bleachers are nothing compared to what future Bluecoats (and other corps) will have to assemble.
What are you guys called?
just like any other sport out whether MMA or something else. after the competition is over. you show respect to your opponents and shake there hand or hug
good job blue devils
one of madison scouts drum majors was my high school drum major, jaeyoon park
13:26..... Awesome. My face was on the jumbotron at Lucas Oil. Check that off of the bucket list.
39:00 Crown and Devils shaking hands....Oh my God...
Like, what school?
But don't they come in in the way they are ranked why is it a suprise
35:14 in the middle. I remember seeing that guy and feeling so sorry for him!
What is the name of the Chinese group? How come I didn't see it.
Mandarins. This is the finals awards show. Only the top 12 corps from the previous night make it to the finals. Mandarins placed 18th with a score of 79.750. They were at the competition, but they did not make it past the semi-finals and were not in the showcase.
I think I love you.
Madison rules!!!
32:50 what are the cavies doing?
Love when they play 'American the Beautiful'. I like how proud that girl at 20:48 looks, the one in the pink. Lovely.
32:53 Jus goofin lmao
2:00 summon the heroes!!! :D
So what's more important with regard to scoring the general effect or music category
Faith Thomas GE is generally the most important category as it holds the highest amount of points towards the total score. In addition, the general effect is based off the of the effects created by both the music and visual components of the show.
Well it depends honestly. Using this past results from this past year you can have a high GE but if one of the others is lacking then you can still lose.
I would ball my eyes out if I were on the field and getting 1st
How come its not on TV anymore?
Cadets
LMAO the Crown guy recording when they announce first place
Im curious as to how they chose which corps drum majors would conduct America the Beautiful.
Mark Tomassian it’s determined by the defending champion. So since BD won in 2012, their drum major conducted the fanfare in 2013
Cedar Park was like 6th in Grand Nats a few years ago
Noah Gomez needs the drum major award.
*gooooo crown!!
omgsh that gave me chills. 20:05
The other BD fans accept Crown's epicness
36:34 someone's got their phone out. I'd like to see that pic/vid
Madison should've placed higher that year.
they do it to see if its them on TV. I've done it before.
